  • The Foundation for Partnership Initiatives in the Niger Delta (PIND) collaborated with the U.S. Government-led Power Africa Health Electrification and Telecommunications Alliance (HETA) to facilitate access to renewable energy for healthcare centers in the Niger Delta.
HETA is an ambitious project by Power Africa geared at electrifying up to 10,000 healthcare centers in Africa through decentralized renewable energy resources. PIND joined the Alliance in 2022 and was subsequently chosen to implement the project in Nigeria, using its proven Access to Energy model of providing reliable, affordable solar power to last-mile communities.
In 2023, while contributing its financial and technical resources, PIND also leveraged a grant of over $200,000 from the Alliance and partnered with several private sector players to extend electricity to 12 primary healthcare centers (PHCs) across three Niger Delta states: Delta, Ondo, and Bayelsa the results and impact so far have been remarkable.
Not only does this initiative contribute to PIND’s overall goal to light up the Niger Delta one community at a time, but the phased approach also aligns with HETA’s five-year plan, offering reliable electricity for daily healthcare needs and community-wide use through private-sector participation.
