  • CAPE TOWN is an amazing city, there is so much to see, it's relatively safe and won't disappoint. The cruise port is mainly an industrial commercial port with a passenger building for immigration, with free WIFI, shops with drinks/snacks and excursion booths. You can catch the hop on hop off bus right at the port. Once you walk out the door of the port the RED hop on hop off bus is to the right of the parking lot. The bus has its own designated parking spot. This bus will bring you to the aquarium where you can catch the red line or blue line bus. Each line brings you to different areas of the city and to a third line, the purple line. The purple line is a loop to various South African vineyards. It's safe, a good value and you can see everything at your own pace. THE WIFI DOES NOT WORK ON ANY OF THE BUSES! We have other Cape Town videos linked below.
We purchased the 2-Day, Premium Hop-on-Hop-off tickets that includes all three bus routes. Today we are just going to do the Red Route. The tour includes wired earphones that give you history of the many buildings you see along the route as well as the history of Cape Town.
We picked up the bus right in front of the cruise terminal and it took us to the first stop on the Red Route, the Two Oceans Aquarium at the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront. From here we passed the Clock Tower and a few other stops on our way to Table Mountain. At this point we got off the bus and took the Cable Car to the top of Table Mountain. You can see our Table Mountain video here:

After leaving Table Mountain and jumping back on the HOHO Bus we took the scenic route along the water and saw Camps Bay, the Clifton Beaches & Lookout, Twelve Apostle Mountains, Queens Beach, the Sea Point Pavilion, Green Point Lighthouse, Cape Town Stadium and of course Table Mountain from many different perspectives.
Once back at Two Oceans Aquarium we did the Harbor Cruise that was included in our Premium Ticket. See our Harbor Cruise video here:

After our Harbor Cruise we did a walking tour of the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront (which is also referred to as the V&A) on the way back to the cruise ship. You can see our V&A Waterfront video here:

Please consider watching our entire Cunard Playlist to see more of this magnificient oceanliner as well as some of the adventures we had at each of the ports of call. This journey started in NY in January 2024 when we boarded the Queen Mary 2 and sailed to Southampton, England - Tenerife, Spain - Walvis Bay, Namibia - Port Elizabeth, Capetown & Durban, South Africa - Reunion Island - Mauritius Island and then finally Perth, Australia. We stayed in an inside cabin (check out our cabin tour & review video) for 45 days that included a Transatlantic Crosssing and 2 Segments of her World Cruise. With many interesting changes in weather, sickness, safety protocols, breaking-news LIVE updates, as well as amazing ports of call with two overnight stops we hope you find our videos both informative and fun to watch.
And as always... Thanks for coming along on our journey!
All the best, Michael & Andrea
