I'm a New Zealand born Samoan, and I've been reading the bible cover to cover for the first time this year. I've learnt that the new testament was originally translated from Greek, so I was inspired by a pastor who spoke some Greek that translated the original text with certain scriptures. I searched and found a free Greek course online that I've been doing for the past 2 days, and also found this great video, and now have subscribed to your channel, and I've already learnt so much! Seeing that this is the first week I'm in quarantine with my family in Australia coming back from New Zealand, I'm only into my 2nd day learning, and I've spent hours learning phrases, and words, and how to speak the basics of the Greek language, while I'm writing out my own, go-to spread sheets so I can practice, and I'm hooked! What a beautiful language, and culture! God willing I hope I can hold a basic conversation by this time next year in Greek. Thank you for this highly informative video and teaching for us beginners!

Biblical Greek is very different from modern Greek. It is a dialect of ancient Greek called Koine (Κοινη). So if your ultimate objective is to be able to read the New Testament (or the Greek translation of the Old Testament known as the Septuagint), this might not be where you should start.

Hello there! It is great video, and I would love to learn how to speak Greek. I did study the ancient New Testament Greek, I see difference with pronunciation.
New Testimany is in Coine Greek. Modern Greek is more simple. For a native speaker is easy to understand. For example: modern greek: o γιος μου Coin greek: ο υιος μου Means my son Or Modern: κρασί Coine: οίνος Means wine

I want to read New Testament in Greek... I can't wait to learn this language! This seems challenging.. but still :D
Same man!
New Testimony is written in Coine Greek. Is similar to modern Greek but with changes. For me as a native speaker is easy. I do not know for sb who learns Greek.
Who else is here because they’re Greek and can’t speak their own language? (In my case, I was born and raised in Australia)
Me
Yeah, me and my son are studying together..to reclaim our heritage
You are doing great 👍 My kids are born in Australia but I taught them our Assyrian language.so perfect because I put them in our church and Assyrian school language every Assyrian we do that in my place and plus my husband Cuzen married a Greek last July I love Greek 🇬🇷 people so much

I'm Greek-American. And same. Trying to reconnect with my roots.
Thank you so much for these wonderful videos. I want to learn the language as my husband and his family are Greek. We've been married for 19 years and I feel that I am Greek, but want to be able to speak the language.
I don’t know any Greek but I really want to. I failed all my languages courses back in school and now that I’m out of school I’m trying to pick it up for my trip to Greece this summer I’m so excited
Hello there! It is great video, and I would love to learn how to speak Greek. I did study the ancient New Testament Greek, I see difference with pronunciation.
New Testimany is in Coine Greek. Modern Greek is more simple. For a native speaker is easy to understand.
For example: modern greek: o γιος μου
Coin greek: ο υιος μου
Means my son
Or
Modern: κρασί
Coine: οίνος
Means wine

Learn Greek with GreekPod101.com is this koine greek?
Koine Greek? are you an idiot or trying to be funny? You'd be pushed to find spoken Koine Greek anywhere in the past 1000+ years.
Να σου πω Χρηση μου εισαι ρομποτ , ξερεις ελληνικα, εισαι ελληνιδα?
this link goes to english classes... i don't want that
Is she a robot
I wish I was born in Greece just so I can speak Greek I always get demotivated and I think it's very hard!!!!
Wait till you learn chinese
It's just a lot for an English speaker to take in, so i advice you to not rush. Rushing it is impossible and that makes demotivation inevitable.
I learned more Greek here than my online Greek class! Thanks a lot!❤❤❤
I am a descendant of Greeks. It is quite interesting to take some Greek lessons. I want to try that, want to feel some connection to my far ancestors.
Greek is fascinating language.. I think will put it in my " languages to learn" list.. Greetings from Egypt
Absolutely beautiful! 💕
I’m learning this so when I go to Greece, I can kind of hold a conversation. I’m sick of staying in one nation, America, I want ro explore.
Excellent video
When saying Oxi(ohi) is it a pure 'h' sound or is a mix of 'h' and 'shh' the more accurate sound to aim for?
That’s what I’m wondering, like it sometimes sounds like “o cheeee” but not oh Chee. Like Chet sound in Hebrew not cha sound. It’s so confusing 😢
Poly = Greek influences in English such like these words
Orphanos = Orphan
Poly = Many (MonoPoly)
Nefra = Nephro (Kidneys)
This is amazing thank you!!
I studied Ancient Greek at school but modern Greek is pronounced so differently! I’m going to Corfu tomorrow so I thought I should know some basics
