That is exactly what I thought when I first learned some simple words about 40 years ago, and you know what, it is the best way. Applying that thinking to those two words, in particular, has never let me down.
I am from Philippines, and thanks for this short vedio, through this short vedio I can learn basic Greek language in advance. Planning to work Greece, God bless
Appreciate that you keep it simple by not teaching too many words and your explanations make it easier to remember. I’m just arrived in Greece so now I’m trying to learn and practice .
I love this!! my step father's family is greek so I'm still learning english since my original language is spanish I think it will more easy to learn greek.
I'm going to a Greek festival with my family soon and i decided i wanted to learn the language just a few words but once i watched this video it made me want to learn more i know how to speak some french, some asl but know i really want to learn this thank you for making it simple it's so easy to understand
Thank you! That was really fun! I leave for Greece in two weeks. I will be looking at this and other videos everyday. I know, I know, I should have started months ago. Greek is so intimidating. I'll keep trying.
I'm Russian, but my relatives from my mum's side are Greek, so I've always dreamt of speaking Greek fluently. I'm fluent in English, almost fluent in Spanish and currently learning French at university, and sometimes it makes me so upset that I even understand Italian, but I'm still struggling with Greek. It's the most difficult language to me, but I'm not gonna give up, because among all the foreign languages I speak I consider Greek the most beautiful and rich, especially when it comes to vocabulary
Γεια σας! I'm from the central part of the USA and I'm learning modern Greek! I'm looking for language partners to practice since where I live there are no Greek speakers. I also have no Greek ancestry or family... I'm 25 years old and my interests include ice skating, rock climbing and playing the piano...
An old trust has now been dispersed. My first European trip started in France, then a 21 day sailing trip with Captain Panos first boat. Oretha. He now only does day trips so I’ll do three one day trips. Then go from island to island for 5 weeks and no Itinerary. After I will randomly meander from island to island. I want to go through that cave again in that cove where you see Panos’s boat is anchored in. Panos was described by the merchant boat as the best Captain in Greece. But, an older boat. Well that was three boats ago. And I tell you, I would go on Captain Panos’s old boat over any Captain in Greece. I cannot wait!
Meraki is a word that has an ultimate Arabic Origin. Filotimo is a Great Greek word. Literally to have a "Love of Honor", someone who is Honorable has it...👍
σας ευχαριστώ που διδάξατε την πιο όμορφη γλώσσα του κόσμου. Δεν είναι περίεργο ότι η παγκόσμια ιατρική υιοθέτησε την ελληνική γλώσσα ως καθολική ιατρική ορολογία
Γεια σου! Nice video with a small correction🥰 In "Γεια", "Γεια σου", or "Γεια σας", the word "γεια" doesn't need an accent mark as it is one syllable😉❤ Kisses from Crete!💋
My cousin is from Athens. A friendly Lebanese couple asked me if I was Armenian or Turkish. I'm mixed with Mediterranean which is where my passion comes from lol.
That is such a pity that the course is limited to only one video!🙄😒😔🥴because the lady looks like a very good teacher. I am honestly disappointed about this and wish it was a series of short courses. Anyway, as an Iranian living in Turkey, there were some interesting things here that might point out interactions between cultures. For instance, the last word "Meraki" might be rooted in Turkish as "merak" means interest in Turkish (in Azeri, it is Marax). For example, "meraklı" means interested or "merak ettim"; means I became curious/interested. Another word was "iyiya" (health in greak). İyi means good or fine in Turkish; for example "iyiyim" means I am fine (however; in Azeri, we say Yaxşı which is a completely different word). So, I am wondering if the word "iyi" has replaced "yaxshi" by time in the Turkish language spoken in Turkey 🤔

It doesn't need to be. Just like the dark L is not standard, but also allowed. Greeks can very a lot depending on local dialects, but almost all mainland Greek is mutually intelligible.
I should be studying for my cardiology final that’s tomorrow but instead I’m trying to learn Greek!
Good luck for the exam! Go hit those books 😁

I spent a week in Athens this year, and people were shocked I'd bothered to learn even the basics.
Good to know, I plan to visit in June. Did you have any problems with language barriers?
@metaldave08096 Not at all. Everyone seemed to speak English. It didn't stop me trying to impress them with my awful Greek though!
