Thank you. Just bought a 1995 Kawasaki Mule 2500 and I believe it needs to be rebuilt so thanks for taking the time to walk through this.

What year is that mule you are working on? I have a 94-95 and the primary clutch looks different.

I have a 2017 4010 and I have replaced the intank fuel filter and it ran great however the filter quickly became gummed up again so I need to clean the fuel tank. What is the best way to do this? I am very inexperienced but can do general maintenance.

I have a 2510 mule. I had to hard wire the fuel pump to the key. Do you have any ideas on why it would stop working

I believe they have a “fuel pump cutoff relay”. I’d start there and check fuses

Is there an adjustment for the governor on 620P ? I'd like to get it up to 30 mph if possible

I am in need of a mule bed side and a rear axel carrier. Do you know I could get one

Good stuff! I'm pulling one of these FD620's tomorrow and don't have a tractor to lift the bed or anyone available to help me get the bed off of the machine. Is this easy to do by myself by just sliding it off the back with the bottom of the tailgate area landing on some 2x6's so it doesn't damage the concrete that it will be on, then duck-walking it back and forth over to where I will be putting it? I searched around to try to find the weight of the bed but could not find any information. Great tutorial and thanks again!

You shouldn’t have a problem sliding it off the back. Everything is metal so you shouldn’t hurt it. Just watch the tail lights and the bed prop because they might get hung up. I usually slide them off I just happened to have my tractor in the video

Bed was in great shape so I didn't want it to get scratched up and did have to get a second set of hands and a moving blanket to slide it after removing. Not terribly heavy but just awkward for one person to move around without scratching it at all...but I didn't have a dolly or anything like that and was doing it at a barn with concrete floor.
Had to stop early, but did notice that the secondary clutch on the transmission came halfway off and then stopped, then did not want to go in or out, then finally came off. I read other people had problems getting it back on. Any advice regarding this?
Finally, watch the best way to retort the retention bolt on both clutches without having a special service tool? I'm always nervous about over torquing with an impact driver. Thanks so much for the info and please let me know if there is a link or email where I can send you a thank you donation.

@@PawPaw-yu7lw the bed is difficult to get on without help or something to pick it up for you. When torquing the clutches, I always use the impact. Just let it get a few good hits and it’s good. If you really want to torque it with a torque wrench, you can maybe put it in gear with the park brake on for the secondary. For the primary, you can maybe take the flywheel cover off and put a wrench on that to stop it from turning. You can also get the cylinder on top dead center with the valves closed and put some rope down the spark plug hole to keep the engine from spinning when torquing

What are good replacement engines for the mule and would a riding lawnmower engine work

    • @atvrepairsandmore2482

I would personally use a Honda v twin engine with a 1" shaft. You would have to buy a comet 780 clutch in order to complete the conversion. I would try to keep the factory engine if possible.

I have a Mule 3010 that had low compression and I put a rebuilt engine in it. The problem I'm having now is that while both the primary drive clutch and secondary driven clutch spin together with the engine idling or revving in neutral, as soon as you go to put it in any gear the secondary driven clutch completely stops moving and the primary drive clutch keeps turning so the belt makes a very loud squealing noise due to the friction of rubbing against the secondary driven pulley. I put a new secondary driven pulley and belt on it and the problem still exists. I inspected the two gear selector linkages on the transmission and they both operate freely. I even went out to look at a friend's Mule 3010 and took a video of the operation of the two gear selector positions in high gear, neutral, low gear, and reverse to compare and they look to be identical.
Does anyone have a clue what would be causing this? The only other thing I can think of is that when I first went to start the engine, the shifter cable bracket was still hanging loose since it is bolted to the engine and I had to move it around a bit to get it in neutral so it would crank. Not certain if this could have caused any issues, but again both of the gear selector levers appear to be operating properly. Transmission fluid is full and clean. Any ideas? Will gladly send a payment if a solution is given as I'm out of ideas. Great video by the way, thanks!

If the unit still drives fine and works properly, the primary clutch will need to be rebuilt. Very common problem I see as they age and it will eventually start to creep forward as you put it in gear. I would try to lower the idle first and see if that helps and put a new belt on before jumping to it being the clutch. I have a video on my page on how to do the clutch rebuild if your machine needs it

I would take all the plastic off around the tank and slide it out. There’s not really a good way to do it without removing it
