The one thing I’m so jealous about is the relationship you have with your boys. How blessed you must feel to have such a bond with them. The build is coming along great you guys
@On Hawaii Time I can appreciate that... my dad and I had a terrible relationship. I didn't speak to him for over 20 years then found out he had Alzheimers. Didn't want any regrets so I reached out... he'd stopped drinking due to the illness and in the last several years before he passed we became really close friends... it was great, but it also made me realize what we could've had all along. @ everyone that still has their parents....go give them a hug.
I’m not even a Jeep guy, but you, Brad and your sons make this channel one of my all time favorites on UA-cam. The content is amazing and it’s awesome to see the bond you and your sons share, which is off roading and wrenching on your Jeeps. Can’t wait to see what’s next for the TJ. Keep up the great work, Trail Recon!!
The way he said I’ve wanted this box forever reminded me of when I was a kid and got excited to play with the boxes especially a huge one from like a fridge or washer and dryer
Brad, your son is very lucky to have a father like you and is so nice to see both building together that beautiful Jeep. Great video as usual and thanks for sharing.
Absolutely inspiring to see father and son working together with genuine passion. I hope my daughters will share the same enthusiasm and passion as they get older and help me with the jeep projects.
My daughter will soon be driving and this is exactly what shes looking at. I have a 93 jeep XJ with long arms for camping so little bear wants to be like papa bear. Awesome video series guys.
Love this. Something about father son projects that always make these better. My dad wasn't around when I grew up but I love doing things with my son. I feel these are really important memories for when he grows up and thinks back to when we did stuff together. Awesome stuff guy's. The TJ looks great. Can't wait for the lift kit video
Love the rack! Wish there was a way to enjoy the soft-top with it but those are the choices we make to enjoy the things we love. At least he can still pull the half windows.
4 minutes in, and realized I can't buy this rack now. Fenders are chopped in the back and won't allow for the mount. Thank you for posting this! I almost ordered this this morning, definitely glad I saw how it's installed! Awesome content as always
Thank You for this video, I have been waiting 2 months for someone installing a gobi for my LJ... This video made my decision of buying it easier. I was also curious about the wind noise. Great Job!
I'm closer to my dad than my mom, but we're both socially awkward. He was my den leader through cub scouts, and continued to be a leader through boy scouts,, so he was there for me about 15 years as a leader, and continues to be there as I made eagle scouth, and still live at home, using my leadership skills he helped teach me to get through various jobs. I really think its awesome to see you do the ame with you son, but with active service, and overlanding. Great job, man,
Been following the channel for what feels like years now and this is awesome to see. My 3 boys are 5, 3, and 2 and I'll be in your shoes some day out here in Arizona. Currently have a 96 XJ and looking at a '07 Commander for a more 'family' friendly ride. Keep up the great videos, Brad!
Found your channel a couple months ago. Since this quarantine started, I think I’ve watched every video you have made in the past 3 years. Big fan of your channel, I like how knowledgeable you are about off-roading, and your enthusiasm for the nice views you get to see during your travels. I also like how good the camera work has gotten. Great work!
What I'm wondering about: how much of a pain is it to open the soft top? I always thought one of the best features of a Wrangler is the possibility to remove the top. With a rack like this, I guess you have to undo the front bolts and then you can flip back the rack, open the top and flip the rack back forward to secure the bolts. Pretty much impossible with a rooftop tent on it. So by the end of the day you might as well buy a hard top and glue that in place because the reason to have a soft top is pretty much eliminated by the rack. Personally I would never do that, but of course that's a matter of personal preference. I tow a small camping trailer and therefor don't use a rack which allows me to tow the trailer topless - and that's my very much preferred offroad configuration.
I just got mine put on last week too. If you did not know just in case they give you $100 off or a free accessory of your choice (even the 265$ ladder) for being military make sure you claim yours if not. I got the free ladder and my backpack came in a separate box haha.
Great video guys! It's really fun to watch you guys tackle projects together and I know it's fun for you guys as well as a father son team! Eager to see where this Jeep build goes in the future!
Looks like alot of work! But a quality product. I love the simple look hes going for. Its going to be a practical off roader! Its awesome you and your son are that close. I hope I maintain a similar relationship with my daughter and can build projects with her when she gets older! She is currently 8 months, I have a ways to go!
Put the socket into the A-pillar bolts, and gently tap with a hammer to bottom them out in the bolt just before breaking each one loose. This will push any paint out of the way, and allow the socket to do it's job without slipping out and messing up the bolt.
Looks good. I like the low profile, no drill install. I have a bone stock 97 TJ Sport and many racks look silly without a lift and bigger tires, I don’t think this one would.
Brad enjoy these times working with Jordan (sons) I remember all the good times helping my son restore his 72 Chevelle. Tha'ts a great looking rack but I thought they took a long time to get them or that only for the LC 80's. Thanks for the videos, I have a wheeler but its 30 years old and very capable can't wait to start some Overlanding!
Lol! I rebuilt every thing to factory spec, everything in regards to a prep for this!!!!! So expensive except what you have there is quailty! I could weld, just so much time would be required! We need this product within Canada! Getting those a piler bolts lose would be time enough!!! If this fits as good as the video shows, this would be an awesome buy! The vehical was! Lol kind of
Nice rack, I'm talking about the Jeep. Looks like great quality and nice looking, good choice. It must be nice to not have to use step tools and have a helper. Great video. Good luck with your build. Thanks
As I tell my girlfriend, "Nice rack!" A few years ago I stepped out of a Japanese restaurant in Boulder and spotted a Gobi rack on an LJ. I complimented the owner who said her dad or uncle was a Gobi co-owner, so I hope they're USA-made. Also, you may find that hitch receiver greatly reduces your departure angle, a disadvantage with rock crawling. Ask me how I know. Good job, guys!
My dad always used to tell me the wrong way to put brackets on, and now I always tell my son the wrong way to put brackets on...so it’s ok, Jordan, it’s a dad thing you’ll be able to do with your kids too! 😂😂. Good job fellas.
The soft top is so loud. Best mod I ever made was adding a brand new aftermarket hard top made by Jeep king / camper king made in Chula Vista CA highly recommend has held up great after three years
That was really cool. Glad it was easier than the tire carrier. I'm enjoying this. I have a two door jk and have wondered if two doors can have a tent. I'm glad to see this.
TrailRecon I fully understand. Just wanted to say that I appreciate your videos and they have given me confidence to work on my truck (and start making videos). Stay safe!
I've had a Gobi rack on my H3 for about 4 years now and it's still as solid as the day I got it. They really make a solid product. Only problem I have is the ratchets turned to crap and the paint on the adjustable bars started to peel
The one thing I’m so jealous about is the relationship you have with your boys. How blessed you must feel to have such a bond with them. The build is coming along great you guys

these videos really make the quarantine less awful
love the TJ vids
What a great dad. You also raised a great son. 👍🏼

Father and son time 👍! Always enjoy your positive videos !
Very cool! love seeing this 2 door TJ over-landing build! Nothing better than wrench time in the garage with your son!
So glad Jordan has been able to spend more time at home with you working on these projects! Keep 'em coming!
It's been nice, but he may not be home for a bit now.
HAD TO CLICK RIGHT AWAY LOVE TRAILRECON!
Right on!
Daddies boy
Good stuff! Father/Son wrenching time is a gift. Looking forward to the next video! Thanks for sharing Brad and Jordan.
I’m really happy that you guys got TJ in your Jeep family..
What a fine young man. I’m sure you’re very proud of him . You two look like twins born 30 years apart rather than father and son.
Love the father son projects! Great build too. I’m a 2dr guy so I love watching this come together.
..only real Jeep...two door!
Absolutely inspiring to see father and son working together with genuine passion. I hope my daughters will share the same enthusiasm and passion as they get older and help me with the jeep projects.
Gotta start em early!
My daughter will soon be driving and this is exactly what shes looking at. I have a 93 jeep XJ with long arms for camping so little bear wants to be like papa bear. Awesome video series guys.
I love the way is turning out! I can't wait to see Jordan and his TJ out in the trails!
Us too!
@@TrailRecon -- Brad, is he still able to put the soft top down with that roof rack? Thanks in advance. Long time viewer here =]
Good to see the family build! My daughter is 17 and looking for her first jeep!
Love this. Something about father son projects that always make these better.
My dad wasn't around when I grew up but I love doing things with my son. I feel these are really important memories for when he grows up and thinks back to when we did stuff together. Awesome stuff guy's. The TJ looks great. Can't wait for the lift kit video
So good to see the family coming to together as a team. Heartwarming.
I love the stance of his TJ as it sits right now. Its crazy capable without 35s and a lift.
He looks sooo happy! Enjoy the hell out of TrailRecon! Thanks for sharing your passion!
Love the rack! Wish there was a way to enjoy the soft-top with it but those are the choices we make to enjoy the things we love. At least he can still pull the half windows.

What a well thought-out, well built, nice piece of equipment !! I love the look of that rack !
Nice addition to the build. Def enjoying this TJ series. And I cracked up when you mentioned that your son was laser focused on the ‘free’ backpack.
Smiling;
Nothing like a father son project. I have had many with my son over the years. Last was putting a 2.5 inch lift on his 2015 Rubicon 4 door.
Thank You for this video, I have been waiting 2 months for someone installing a gobi for my LJ... This video made my decision of buying it easier. I was also curious about the wind noise. Great Job!
There is a bar that goes across the inside of soft tops....it does help to keep the noise down.
It’s looks really good. My son just made it through boot camp yesterday from the Navy.
I Love the looks of the Gobi rack I’m super happy with mine!!
I'm closer to my dad than my mom, but we're both socially awkward. So I'm trying to decide between a 2Dr Bronco and an LJ and you and Jordan are really helping me understand what is out there for the TJ. Thank you!
So great to see father + son + TJ = ☺
Am I the only one who thought: “WHAT’S IN THE BOOOOOOOOOOX?!”
This is the best channel on UA-cam!!

Thanks for the lesson on Anti-seize. Will be adding that to my toolkit. Hahahah with the RTT, you're OVERLAND OFFICIAL!!
You bet!
Father and son working together on the Jeep. Love it.

That looks fantastic! Well done guys! And yes thank you for sharing your builds!
Love the father and son building/bonding! Overlanding to come!
GREAT video - GREAT to see the relationship between you two - PLEASE more more more videos - how bout one per day?????
I just got mine put on last week too. If you did not know just in case they give you $100 off or a free accessory of your choice (even the 265$ ladder) for being military make sure you claim yours if not. I got the free ladder and my backpack came in a separate box haha.
You’ll like the Gobi rack. Had one on my previous JK ... no issues & quality welds.
Just put a rack on my TJ and this video helped a ton. Thanks!
Great video guys! It's really fun to watch you guys tackle projects together and I know it's fun for you guys as well as a father son team! Eager to see where this Jeep build goes in the future!
What a great video, I'm literally looking through roof rack options, this was very helpful to see the skeleton

I always look forward to projects like this with my sons!
Using a heat gun to heat up the A-pillar bolts, and the paint around them, helps get them out easier.
Awesome video man the Jeep is lookin more beautiful every time we see it
Cool to see you and Son working together. I've done some work my father also and it was great bonding!
Love the posts and great everyday wrangler advice. Please keep them coming.
Twins.. Great family function.
Looks good. I like the low profile, no drill install. I have a bone stock 97 TJ Sport and many racks look silly without a lift and bigger tires, I don’t think this one would.
Looks like we all have to stay on base atm. Tempted to camp in my driveway. 😂Coming together guys. Nice
Loving the TJ build videos. Excellent roof rack. Stay safe and well.
Jordan's rig is really starting to take shape - thank you both for the great, informative content.
Brad enjoy these times working with Jordan (sons) I remember all the good times helping my son restore his 72 Chevelle. Good father son video love your wife's yellow jeep!
It’s coming along really well. Looks great. I can’t wait to see what kind of lift kit and tires he has already.
Looking good. Great job with the options being added.
Great Job you guys this build is really been fun to watch.
Really enjoying this build series!! You and Jordan seem to be having a lot of fun with this project! Keep the videos coming.
Thanks! Will do!
You guys are very lucky. You have some beautiful jeeps.
The backpack will see daily use.
pretty nice
Very nice setup, that all seemed to go together really well too.
Nice to see.
I had to use a sawz all to cut a couple of my A pillar bolts. But I have a 78 CJ, so I guess I can't complain.
Lol! I rebuilt every thing to factory spec, everything in regards to a prep for this!!!!! So expensive except what you have there is quailty! I could weld, just so much time would be required! Another great video. I myself have been looking into the Gobi Ranger Rack and a Goose Gear plate system as future projects for my 2-door jk.
Love the build. Planning on getting a gobi rack next on my build
I love the little TJ videos, awesome build
i love how wholesome mormons are
It will look awesome at the end
We can't wait!
When you said “that should be enough for you and maybe a girlfriend” he blushed and I laughed so hard 💀😂
Love the do not crush sticker
That looks so good on it!!
Nice rack, I'm talking about the Jeep. Looks like great quality and nice looking, good choice. It must be nice to not have to use step tools and have a helper. Great video. Good luck with your build. Thanks
As I tell my girlfriend, "Nice rack!"
A few years ago I stepped out of a Japanese restaurant in Boulder and spotted a Gobi rack on an LJ. I complimented the owner who said her dad or uncle was a Gobi co-owner, so I hope they're USA-made.
Also, you may find that hitch receiver greatly reduces your departure angle, a disadvantage with rock crawling. Ask me how I know.
Good job, guys!
As they were unwrapping there was a Made in USA sticker on the box.
@@willb3018 Perhaps the box was made in the USA?
They’re built in Colorado.
My dad always used to tell me the wrong way to put brackets on, and now I always tell my son the wrong way to put brackets on...so it’s ok, Jordan, it’s a dad thing you’ll be able to do with your kids too! 😂😂. Good job fellas.
The jokes and laughs told around the garage are lifes best moments.
Nice looking mods.... again I appreciate the mistakes being left in...integrity... and makes me feel better when I do my own projects! lol
The soft top is so loud. Best mod I ever made was adding a brand new aftermarket hard top made by Jeep king / camper king made in Chula Vista CA highly recommend has held up great after three years

Brad swoop in with the dad jokes "You been wanting a box?!"
That was really cool. Glad it was easier than the tire carrier. I'm enjoying this. I have a two door jk and have wondered if two doors can have a tent. I'm glad to see this.
Another great add on you guys are having to much fun 😂😂 awesome stuff guys as always be safe
Great video, now I get to figure out which rack to put on the 2016 4 door we have.
Can't wait to see the wheel and tire combo he goes with. It's gonna look awesome!
Nice! Can’t wait to watch this. I hope Jordan is doing okay away from home. Have a good, Easter from Australia.
Thank you! Looking forward to having him home more once world events calm down.
TrailRecon I fully understand. Just wanted to say that I appreciate your videos and they have given me confidence to work on my truck (and start making videos). Stay safe!
Congratulations. It looks really good!
the tent mounting gave me an idea how to re mount my rtt this year! thanks
Its always nice to see quality racks! Wish I could run one, probably wouldn't last long through the trails over here in the southeast though... 😒
Garvin looks like the better design for the TJ, despite the minor drilling required.
I've had a Gobi rack on my H3 for about 4 years now and it's still as solid as the day I got it. They really make a solid product. Only problem I have is the ratchets turned to crap and the paint on the adjustable bars started to peel
Once those 35's go on with the lift and rock, it'll be a tight fit in that garage.
