Cheap Covacure Hammock camp in an old woodland | First camp of '22 🌲

- I was invited to spend a Saturday and Sunday morning at an old woodland with two other Toobers and a fella I hadn't met before.
It was my first camp of '22 and it was great to get out into the cheap Covacure hammock again.
I spent my sleeping time in a Covacure Hammock with a Subito Under Quilt.
I draped a British Army Wool Blanket over my inner ridgeline to retain some heat during the night. This worked very well and I got this idea from a Dave Canterbury video.
My tarp of choice was the reliable DD 3x3 multicam tarp from DD Hammocks.
I met up with;
Jim-Bob’s Adventures and Kit - / frogmaster83
Also Roy.
Roy has a FB group called Scarecrow Outdoors.
Roy is another good bloke who I look forward to chatting around a campfire with in the not too distant future!

Hello that man there! It was a fun night for sure. Cold, but fun!
Actually, it wasn't too cold in the morning when we got up and the wool blanket draped over the ridgeline helped a lot.
Definitely having my wool socks to hand in the hammock this time of year. Stupid me left them in my bag so had to get out to put them on 🙄

JB bought it direct from Russia. It is a good hammock tent. JB has done a couple of vids on it.
It was a good camp and we did indeed have a good time. Camp fire chats are the best!

MDM and myself were sure Jerry was in the bushes disguised as a big old deer. Scared us like Billy'O when we moved near it into camp and it ran!

JB's hammock was alright. He set it up a lot better than Bex BO's vid. No disrespect to him whatsoever.
Don't think of buying one as I don't think you'd get in it. It is quite short in length and I imagine you are over 6ft.

I don't really do Sadbook so I won't be on his group unfortunately.

Awesome setup. I love the Covacure Hammock's, I have two of them now. With a good under quilt winter camping is cozy toasty warm..

Yeah, it was quite a thing to see four hammocks. It looked good, especially Allan's (JB) Russian Mountain Hammock.
I was toasty you know. But, my feet felt a little cold in the early hours. When I got up for a wee I put on my wool socks and that was it. Warm as!!! 🔥

For an overnighter I shall be my new Onewind 11ft hammock. Plenty of room and can get a good diagonal lay.

Looks like you guys had a good outing. Allen's jungle hammock looked pretty neat, haven't seen one fully set up, other than just pics. Woulda been a bit tight for me though as I am at 6' 2". Agree with ya. I like the Flecktarn pattern quite a bit too. It's different.

Hello Craig. The Karrimor Predator is a lovely comfy pack to wear, even when carrying a good weight. I am looking at getting a Highlander ProForce 66lt pack to try too.
I thought the wool blanket over a secondary inner ridgeline worked quiet well. What I will do next time is peg off the foot end, as I left head and foot end open. Still wasn't too bad, but if one end is closed off it will generated more heated area. Give it a whirl 👍

The wool blanket did help you know. I will make sure to peg off the foot end next time though just to see if that helps even more.
Gotta say though, the Alpkit Pipedream 400 sleeping bag is a fine bag to be under. In the hammock, I don't get in the bag and zip it. I just open it up, tuck my feet in the foot end and use it like a quilt... lovely and toasty!
