as someone who was bullied when i was that age? screw that guy. "oh woe is me im the victim because i have to feel guilty about it for the rest of my life" screw that. as a teen my treatment of others was treat them how you want to be treated, that is common sense. anyone whos soul cant do that by DEFAULT isn't someone who has a good soul. this guy would sell you out for a packet of mints if you werent in his personal friend group i guarantee it. notice how he explicitly makes the story about his own struggle. how he shifts the tone to how all of his group then abandoned him, how he tries to portray himself as the victim in the story?
the only reason he even feels remorseful in the first place is because everyone else blamed him. i bet no one else who was involved even remembers that event as anything other than "god remember when so and so used to bully this kid and the kid committed suicide?"

Yeah, it hits way too close to home... Literally every friend I've had in my 17 years of living has abandoned me. And two of them were my own fault for being possessive because of my abandonment issues... The rest just stopped talking to me, some I don't even know why.

@@ssr8555 The issue I think is that in my experience, after school, I didn´t want to talk anymore to 90% of the people I knew, so I chose to spend some of my very small social energy to those I really wanted to.
It´s great, I talk with my high school friends on discord (I'm a kind of a recluse on college), and I have plenty of gaming sessions with them.
It´s a mutual effort to keep friendships going. Can you say to yourself that you spent a lot of energy to keep the friendship?
What I see most of the times on people who say "people ghost me after school" but they didn´t as much send one message saying hi. You can´t really expect someone to send you a message without you sending one.
P.S: When i mean "you", i meant in like a 3rd person, please don´t confuse yourself
@@boargod4511 that's true. A lot of the time people expect that their friends would text them rather than them having to text that friend themselves. We expect it because "well, they're my friend, why wouldn't they text me?" without even realizing they could be thinking the same we do. Like you said, friendship and really all relationships are a mutual effort-you can't expect one person to be able to keep them up while you do practically nothing and then blame them for what happened. More people need to realize this, I believe it's the biggest reasons why so many friendships tend to fail l, especially after school when you don't see each other as often in person.
I will admit that that's the reason I lost my only middle school friend, so I'll add +1 to the friends I lost because of my own actions. There might have been a mix of this and that in my other relationships too, I won't deny.
But in the case of the rest, I did put in effort. For example, with my latest loss, even after I noticed she was losing interested (not starting conversations, texting slower and shorter messages, not showing as much emotion etc.) I kept texting her nearly everyday. I did my best to come up with things to talk about, to be funny and everything even when she wasn't putting in any effort because I really really liked talking to her-she made me happy and feel like I can trust people again. Eventually though, she stopped answering me. To this day I still don't know the reason she stopped talking to me and that's the worst feeling ever. Not knowing if you did something wrong or if something happened in their life... Or if you really just turned out really boring after the "honeymoon phase" for a lack of better term.
But yeah, friendship can sometimes be a bit of work to keep up, especially in the beginning times or when the distance between you changes (ex. Going from irl to internet friends or vice versa). But it's definitely worth it when things really work out :)

Some people don't have the confidence to walk up to people and tell them that. It can be a really hard thing to do. Would you do it? Knowing that you're part of the reason that the person killed himself? Do you have the bravery that it would take to confess that to his parents? That you bullied him, was harmful to him, and was also a part of the reason that he finally could not take anything anymore and decided that the best thing to do was to kill himself? I, personally, would most likely be unable to do that. It takes a lot to be able to knock on the kids parents door and confess what you had done to him.

@Cyanide I hate that notion with a passion. It isn't punishment enough for the people involved, and nothing will ever be. Fucking someones life up to the degree where they are ready to end it, regardless of reason, is not something that can be redeemed by just regretting it. Having said that, I really do hope he can find peace. What's done is done, and however horrible it was I will always believe a person can improve. I have faith that he has learned from his mistakes.
My point though is that saying regret should lead to redemption diminishes the weight of his actions, which is disrespectful towards the people who were hurt by them. Someone can change, and there is forgiveness to be found. But forgiveness does not come from something as stupid as regret. He can only ever be forgiven by talking to the ones he wronged.

That's actually really accurate, a lot of people who play vrchat like myself don't know how to talk to people. In real life I don't know how to hold conversation that easily. Playing vrchat helps some people at least make friends, and it's actually kinda heartwarming. When they hop off they feel a big wave of loneliness sometimes from my understanding though.

I feel like a lot of people dislike videos for (what I would consider) the wrong reasons. For example, if there is a documentary that is about something controversial or upsetting, maybe they will dislike based on that - regardless of whether it's just a well done and neutral documentation of the upsetting subject matter.
The last one was ironic and yet kind of like poetic justice in a morbid way. Either way, RIP Curtis and I hope the guy talking finds a friend and some semblance of peace and acceptance within himself.

The last story reminded me of the movie "A Silent Voice"
If he actually feels remorse for what he did, the only thing you can really do in a situation like that is find some way to make other peoples lives better.
You can't bring that kid back, but you can at least try to help other people who are in need and try to make up for what he's done. Maybe someday he can tell himself he's done more good than bad. Just like Shoya.

I find that the outrageousness of someone's appearance is usually proportional to how much they've gone through, like they usually have thick skin when it comes to unsolicited judgement.

I'm no one to judge him, I don't know his whole history, but I'm telling you that usually, people don't change (it's sad, but it is what it is, there's always people who change and become a better person, but that's rare my dude).

If he had meant to kill the kid yeah he probably wouldn't change but since something worse happened that he wasn't prepared for he almost definitely changed as a result.

I mean, if he bullied a kid, and the kid just killed himself, without saying something like "I'm killing myself because I can't stand how bad you treat me every day!" I don't think he would feel guilty because of the death of the guy, just because of the social pressure around him, isn't that just him "reacting" to the people around him instead of a deep change inside that person? I mean, that's what I was trying to say, he didn't change, just reacted to the people around him, I think that if you put him in a similar spot, nowadays he would react in the exact same way, if he knew there wasn't any punishment that all the "good" things he got from that would repeat. That last story got me on a personal level. Someone very close to me almost ended it due to bullies and his life at home, sometimes these things can really heavily way on a person where they see no end to it and it's terrible. Even when the bullying can seem like nothing to the bully, it can mean so much to the person it's happening to.

No matter how bad things get, you cannot resort to making people feel bad when you are the one going through the pain. If you are the one bullying someone or constantly making insults, sly remarks to others. Get help for your problems, don't pass over that negative energy to others who may not be as strong as you, they might not be able to cope with it, even if they seem not affected you don't know how they feel. You don't want to live with those thoughts this person has had to, regrets and sorrow for a life they affected negatively in some way. Be kind to others.
Bullying is a very interesting topic in the way that, you can see why people do it. Most of the time, bullies don't want to be what they are, but situations at home, school, or elsewhere have created a sum of pent up anger. When that anger has nowhere to go, the person looks for the first thing to release it to, and sometimes that will be the quiet, shy kid in class.
Now I am not condoning bullying in any way. It is a terrible act, with sometimes great consequences. Knowing that you were a cause for someone's death weighs heavy on the mind. It is an inescapable truth that you basically KILLED someone. That you could have been the last nail in the coffin. The one thing to push someone over the edge. It's the form of the ultimate punishment. Regret that can never be cleared, because the chance to say sorry will never come. You're too late to change your ways and save them, you caused this, it's YOUR fault.
Ex-bullies like the one in the video are an example of this. They did something unforgivable, and they have to live with that regret for the rest of their lives, with no chance for forgiveness. People are always too quick to judge others for their past. The past is a record of what one has done, but in no way can fully determine how a person will be. The guy in the video learned his lesson, albeit too late. He acknowledges his wrongs, and he hopes to never do something like it ever again. When it comes to these situations, both sides of the story need to be seen. The bully did his thing, and what did it cause? Regret.
@@Itsamakho I'm and Ex-bullie, when i was little i kind of was popular in school and i dont remember why but i hated one guy of my class. I remember bullying him over nothing and it was not like i had problems in life or whatever i think i just kinda liked feeling superior i dont know really. As a kid i didn't really have the self-awareness or the morality to know what i was doing was wrong the world was simple to me i was probably self-centered so if something wasnt hurting to me it didnt matter.
Few years later i came aware of the fact that what i was doing was wrong and to this day i feel like shit about being that kid, it changed my personality too i was more confident and extroverted but them i became more anxious about everything and started doubting every small thing i did like i felt guilty. When i realized i searched for the kid who had left school and begged for forgiveness but hehad moved on and was totally a different person too, i think it made him stronger, he probably had good parenting that "saved" him, it really seemed like he didn't care about what i did and that we were just kids that didnt know better but i still feel guilty, like my nature is evil and if it wasnt for logical reasoning to understand why it is wrong i would totally be a bad guy.
PS: sorry for my bad english i guess im not really good at writing in it.
The problem with bullying and billies, is that they have no control over their life, remember, they are kids, as the dude in the video, he had family problems, so he couldn't resort to that to get help for his problem, he didn't had money and he probably didn't have knowledge about mental issues or understanding about his feelings, so it's very, very complex and you can't expect the bullie to get the help they need, it gotta come from the school, the gov, the parents or organizations.

Some of my "friends" were some complete assholes though, I'm surprised I had the patience to just laugh it off and be that goof ball when they have no idea what I've been going through. I used to have really bad social anxiety, it got as bad as if I said one word incorrectly, I would just stop speaking in general and awkwardly walk away. Playing VRChat has taught me how to start a good conversation with people like the basics such as "How are you" "Where are you from" "How are things going in in your life" and what I didn't realise is that little things like that could spark up such interesting conversations with people. Nowadays I am hanging out with the most amazing people I could ever find on VRChat and I have never felt better!!
I wish i could hang out with people like that, like on vr, but i feel i would be way too scared and insecure to speak to people on vr

There is group of girls in my class who I was was really close to years ago but we found new friends and moved on. Now they act so nice to me but when they think I’m not listening they talk shit about me. I feel like everyone is talking bad about me. One of the girls will literally be so kind to me one day and then the next she stares at me with a pissed off face and calls me disgusting words behind my back. I’ve never done anything mean to them. I’ve tried so hard to be kind and understanding to everyone because you don’t know what people are going through... maybe they are hurting inside and this is the only way to feel better like coping but it isn’t right that they bully me all the time I get messages from random numbers saying the most disgusting shit to me..I’m really depressed and I always feel like killing myself because of everyone around me. My family, friends and everyone at school treat me like shit. They all think I’m a loser. I really don’t know what to do with my life.

That last story made me reflect about this friend I had we were basically friends since grade 2 and later in our friendship once the other guy left school I started hitting him even though at that point in my life I didn't have anything to be mad about and eventually he broke and stole something from a kid during a camp sort of field trip and I have not seen him since and I feel terrible about it. I can't remember it in detail still to this day.
