At this point I just see mirror dwellers as NPCs, they are located in preset locations, Have a fixed dialog with other npcs and ignore players. That is unless the developers have added one or 2 voice triggers for that character, these activate rare dialog options but they are usually pretty basic or based on scripted events and usually only last a few seconds.
Being in vr sometimes makes you feel like a therapist. So many people need help. They're starved for love, affection, and someone to care for them. I try my best to help as many as i can, but alot of them need actual therapy.
Somebody told me he will commit suicide tight after he's done with the game today. We had a very deep conversation and spoke about everything but mainly relationships and life. It has been a week since that encounter and now I don't know if he actually did it or not since he's never online now
@@underlinetruth9745 im so sorry to hear that.. that's gotta be truly upsetting to get that close to someone like that, and to face the possibility that they're really just... gone after it. Definitely. That "upgrade" they made to fbt calibrating is complete garbage. Who thought it was a good idea to have your complete avatar follow your head? That just obscures the legs and makes them harder to align. If they ever get rid of the --legacy-fbt-calibrate switch, I'm going to be pissed.
Neither of those things has anything to do with mirror dwellers. Thos are actions that require a mirror, mirror dwelling is characterized by a lack of action.
I've always thought of the lone mirror dwellers as being people desperate for a temporary mental vacation, and seeing their virtual self in the mirror anchors them as that entity in the virtual space. There are also a lot of mutes, as the familiarity of their own voice might be enough to break the immersion of being completely separate from oneself. There's a wealth of untapped opportunities for VR cognitive therapy & research.
Main reason for mirror dwelling is since you can be whatever you want in vrc, changing into avatars of what you want to be, people use it as a confidence booster when they get to see themselves. I went out bought full body basically just sit at mirrors in ambient worlds to relax, its stress relief from other problems.
@@sleeve9097 No point to play a vr game if your avatar uses straight up plank movement. If cant move joints and all parts then it's not immersive enough to be considered VR
I feel like in a lot of cases it's not "what you want to be" but "what you want to see". For example, guys change into anime girl avatars then sit in front of a mirror to stare at their waifu.
It's therapy. Especially for the last year and half when everybody was in lockdown, we couldn't go out and do stuff, hang out in crowded places to be within vicinity of other people. VR helped that. Actually, it also helps people with any kind of social anxiety. If you were to walk up to a couple of random people on the street and start listening in, they'd look at you and probably get in your face about eavesdropping. For a person who's already fairly anti-social, that sort of thing is just a real blow to confidence. In VRchat though, you can stand next to people, hear people as though they're right next to you, maintain confidence without being worried about being judged on your looks or behaviors. And other people in VRchat being confident in their anonymity are more willing to discuss their personal issues, life problems, ask for advice they wouldn't normally feel comfortable asking face to face. Most of the "mirror dwellers" I see are chatting it up with other people, either in VRchat or in their own discord channels. Being able to discuss things through anonymity is a great confidence booster, sorta like how people loosen their inhibitions on halloween when they can pretend to be somebody else for a night.
i almost got sucked inside the mirror the first time i saw my "Virtual" body in vr.. it was a tough battle, we lost most of our comrades.. but we were lucky enough to escape, poor bastards, i cant forget the look of shock, amazement, and fear, in their faces. i will never forget that look on their faces, but i guess thats my punishment for all what i did to survive that place..
I always thought about making a world where a player can make a free appointment with a therapist type player that'll listen and give them real helpful advice. A place where a VR chat player can let out what's been bothering them in the outside world without the issue of them being made fun of. I was always my school's "back alley therapist" and even personally studied psychology, so once I get a VR headset, I might just try to make that a reality, so that those in need don't feel quite lonely.
THIS needs more Likes. You don't need a therapy license to be able to listen and hear people's problems out. Sometimes even just giving them a place to vent and actually have someone to listen to can make all the difference for someone. And the fact that VR chat gives you a place to actually be yourself, in the comfort of your own home, but also allows you to go out and explore and talk to others in an almost person to person fasion.
I can’t lie I do have FBT and I sometimes go just poke around in the mirror like “whoa bro” but I don’t stand in front of mirrors by myself, most of the time I go to music worlds and dance or sometimes cuddle with ppl and give headpats :)
Good stuff, probably the best video I've seen covering the mirrors most people are just straight up bashing. IMO who cares though we literally have no idea what anyone's individual motivations are and if they are having a good time just let them have it. I also think there are far more toxic things going on than people chilling in front of a mirror, for example ur cousin turning a sleep room into a cod lobby 😆
Mirror dwellers are a waste of space in public game world lobbies, + these people usually have really badly optimized avatars which causes everyone to experience more lags, lower fps.
@@brock7405 Idk man, I meet a love of people through just walking up to mirror dwellers and striking up a conversation, although I agree with how fucking annoying they are with fps drops, which is weird cause for me I don't get lag from players usually I just get weird lag spots from a certain area of the room. I met my best friend through someone in an asl world mirror dwelling, and I feel it's very fun to stare at how my fbt interacts with my avatar when I move certain ways, but I do know a lot of other people use it just to stare at the avatar. I do absolutely despise the elitism that a lot of fbt mirror dwellers have, I've noticed if you are on desktop or quest they will just straight up ignore you. Hell, last night I was in a world and a group of mirror dwellers were just talking about sex work and nudes and all this nsfw stuff in a public world and some desktop guy came up and one of them started screaming at them, like the rest and sleep section of this video. He acted like he was better than the desktop and kept assuming the worst about him.. Shit makes me depressed every time I see these kind of people
If all they do is sit in front of mirrors all day and block players who try to make contact with them, the least they can do is stay off the public servers so us real humans can have a good time.
I think mirror is an unconscious manner to see what your doing since fov is not as big as your own eyes. For me i cant really just lay down its a waste of time, but as a fbt enthousiast I like to calibrate with the mirror cause im picky about it!
This 100%. The limited FOV & voice volume distance ratio being the way it is makes simulating irl "talking circles" being really small. At mirrors, people can "stack by height" with small avis at the front, keeping within close voice range while also being able to see each other's expressions.
oh wow. what a coincidence, I made a vid with the exact same name a while ago, it's good to see more vrchat creators speaking out about one of the most common things in the game and their perspectives/personal experiences, sick vid as always!!💛
A little while back, I left a vrc rave to wind down by visiting some friends hanging out by a mirror, when this character came up to me, playing music, pointed at my feet and challenged me to a dance off. I obliged and went at it. It was a surreal experience.
For PC players it's hard to have a good overview of all the ppl around you, and what is happening in the world. I sit with a mirror not to look at myself! But to see everyone around me.... I hope i can buy VR soon so i can get away from the mirror XD.
I've tried saying the same thing. Amongst a sea of users who've never considered other reasons. As an OG Second Life user, your camera is third person and you can see everyone. You want to see who's talking too. If it wasn't necessary to be in first person for VR, I'm confident a lot less people would dwell at mirrors. If there's somehow a way to solve this, you would get some people upset about ruining popular congregation locations as they are a good excuse to join other groups. A moot point, but I've seen things play out that way. 🙂
I use the mirrors when I chat with friends, so I can use the correct facial emotes. Otherwise, we play games together. I don’t understand people who sit in silence or by themselves in front of a mirror with no intent of talking with others.
Yeah I get that. From my experience if there is only 1-3 people in front of mirror, and they don't talk much, you better avoid them. I don't know why they are in public rooms though if they just want to be alone/with few friends.
I was one of the mirror dwellers in the tavern clips with music and I can say the main reason we decide to look in the mirrors for so long is because it makes it easier for us to use the right facial expressions and make sure our full body isn’t going all over the place. Of course I do enjoy playing games with friends but being a dancer, the mirror makes it easier to practice moves :) 💖
my theory is this: when talking whit people in a world you want to create something like a vibe zone where you feel good whit the people you talk to. it also allows you to chill in the poses you want whitout constandly needing to turn left or right just to look at your friend. you cant relax this much in the middle of a free space and straring at a boing wall is also not the way to go so you rather chill infront of an mirror. the mirror also gives you the overview over everything near you so that feels good too. except if your actively talking and interacting whit people, in that case such a vibe zone would maybe interfear whit the fun your having whit the people infront of you. you rather care where your standing. these people are the people randomly standing around in worlds. also, if your alone and you are to shy to speak to people you want to look bussy or look like you know what your doing and a mirror is a very good place for that.
I just got my VR set up like 2 weeks ago and because I didn’t know there were mirrors there I didn’t know why people were gathering around certain places haha. So I just sat down snd would chat with them. I definitely enjoy exploring and drawing more in worlds but I’ve had some great conversations in front of mirrors I didn’t even know were there!
I would love to see VRChat disabling mirrors for a day on April fools 😂 it would be pure chaos and would probably send the VRChat community into a mass panic
i just like mirrors cause i can walk up to them for a couple of minutes and pose. its not every day you can throw on a Megaman avatar and recreate some cool original box art poses.
i just bought myself full body tracking, can't wait till they come in!!! i spend most of the time looking at an irl mirror than a vrchat one, i use the vrchat mirrors to see if im in the correct avatar then go into murder 4 or somewhere else im still a visitor on vrchat which is probably gonna stop me from talking to a known user to a trusted user because they'll probably have my avatar or me entirely blocked because they might assume im a crasher, but that aint gonna stop me from talking to people i'll try to update yall on my fully body tracking experience when they come in!
let me explain why i love mirrors… OK so basically why I love them is because sometimes I wonder what I look like whenever I’m talking to somebody or I’m going out in public into a public game and I don’t want to look stupid so that’s why I either always have a camera right next to me or a mirror so that I can see everything that’s happening to them but mostly me. so that’s basically why we all love mirrors
3:43 caught me off guard haha. Seriously though. I can feel that you're gonna be a bigger channel in the future. Well not guaranteed, but the quality is definitely present.
I played VRChat every day for hours around 2018 and just getting back into it. There were mirror people then but not like now. It feels harder to approach new people than back then.
Another banger bro keep em coming! 🔥 also I’ve never realized I was a mirror dweller too cause I would usually just look at the emotes and facial expressions of my avatar then later on when around a lot of friends I would just sit there talking to em in the mirror for hours but whenever I would see someone alone I would try to get them in the conversation and be friendly with em cause idk what they’re going through so I try to make em happy and not just block them for doing a backflip lmao
That really freaking explains why the basement of Midnight Rooftop is so dang popular, I thought it was the vibe of the place but _it's the goddang mirror_
I always hang around a mirror by myself when I get on vrchat, I even join lots of avatar worlds just to give myself the excuse of looking at new avatars in the mirror. I only do this because I'm not good at social situations but at least I'm approachable lol
The mirror is the most important thing because it gives you your virtual "self". In most other VR-games you are only head and hands and you'll never see your self - thats kind of hollow. Experiencing your self in a mirror especially with FBT is way more immersive than just beeing head and hands. Beeing the person which you choose to be can be quite a good feeling. But as soon as i have that new self-image i want to go to new places and i don't just want to sit around. (except after many hours of dancing in a club - having a good chillout-talk with some people in front of a mirror can be very comfy)
I've been saying mirrors are the greatest drug for years. A good mirror sit every once-in-a-while is great and all, but talking to people face-to-face in VR is an experience that I think most people that stare at mirrors all day are missing out on.
Reading some of these comments and watching videos like this seems like a wake-up call for me. As a world + avatar creator I spend way too much time infront of mirrors testing out avatars, making it a habit for me to seek mirrors in worlds I go to/create.
At this point you've really nailed the videoessay style for your vids, they always feel so professional, yet don't get you tired in 2 min. Ironically, it feels like eavesdropping/talking with someone next to a mirror xD Strong message near the end too about people with depression
For a sec I thought you'll go all Rambo on why you hate mirror dwellers or smth but I'm really glad you're actually pretty neutral about them. They actually don't do anything bothersome, they just vibing. I wish more people were as chill as you, dude!
As someone who makes avatars, (as in from a cube in blender, all the animations, the whole shebang) I spend an exorbitant amount of time in front of the VRChat mirrors, just making sure everything looks and full body moves like it's supposed to, spending my whole session in front of the mirror, but obviously fulfilled with that, I work very hard on my avatars and seeing them in action is the reward. I guess that technically makes me a "mirror dweller" but I'm having a great time!
I feel like people just want an escape from real life, even if they're not doing anything in VR they still feel more comfortable. They'll do anything they can to not be in reality, that's why they'll just sit in a virtual world for hours
I make a personal mission to inform new players of "Mirror Dwellers" and I explain why they do it, and who they are, why they block people etc. But I agree with NixVR's comment, I also find myself as a therapist in this game, I am not complaining, I actually am educated in this. I have met many amazing people which just go VR and they love the game, I bring them away from the mirrors, I stand intentionally in spots where there are no mirrors. People join on me, I make a circle of people talking, and we have a great time.
For me it's an identity thing. I'm trans and being that I haven't had my surgeries and, thanks to covid ruining my lungs, I can't wear binders long. Being able to look in a mirror and see how I wanna look and be able to go "Hey, that's me! It's really me!" Is something special
I know I've wanted one for ages. Can be whoever and whatever I please. It's most of the reason I'm getting the headset, aside from being able to go on virtual dates with my long distance girlfriend. Hoping to have a Christmas party with her if I get a headset ^^
As for sitting like a rock, even though I'm on quest, I move my hands around constantly, look at people directly (not through the mirror) I try to do my part to be animated and expressive, even if it's a little exaggerated 💛
i love making silly moves and DANCEEEE in my fullbody but having a toaster strapped to your face and dance for hours makes for a sweat shower so if im not in the mood to be silly or dance sure i just sit or lay or stand around but i feel like theres a lot more dancers than people know. theres whole stripclubs with stage dancers, lap dancers, hell even pole dancers with real poles in their room and a lot of other different dancers such as hip hop and shuffling. i guess if youre just hanging out in a chaotic public lobby thats made for mostly talking you usually wont ever see those dancers dancing there. i also tend to stray away from the mirror when im in half body because i know my entire body wont go boonk or fly away lmaoo
I've been looking for worlds to play in!! I'm still new and people have invited me to just chill by the mirror..... the people are usually cool...... I get pretty bored quq luckily sometimes there are pens to doodle with, but I much prefer playing games! Thanks for recommending some cool worlds!
i sorta count as a mirror dweller but my vrchat mates ARE. while there playing w/ avatar hair and all that, i just dance around and shadow box em'. they like 16-18 but i the 'child' (youngest). im not much of a vrchat player. im more of a B&S and pavlov, bonelab/works guy. occasionally ill come on and hang out with them. as one of them put it, "i just find it relaxing hanging out in a rainy room watching someone play with my hair". she says to have phantom sense which i can understand how its relaxing. Edit: this is probably the longest comment i have ever written. i normally just type the most random shiii
When I am sitting in front of a mirror for hours i finally can feel like I like "myself", I can be myself, or just look for affection, cuddle and feel loved.
When i play vrchat i go to mirror people who sit by themselves because most of the time they are people who dont have many friends or who are going through something and im only 14 but i have helped soo many people from depression, suicide, and anxiety, so being a "therapist" to people who i can help is what keeps me going and if i have to help people on vrchat as much as possible for the rest of my life then im ok with that, cause there are places in the world that i can reach or go to and just ask a random stranger if they are ok and if they need help cause to me thats akward and i have bad social anxiety, i wish i could be helped myself but i like to help others and there is a little more to people who look at mirrors than what you said but that is a great explanation, also i love all your videos so please dont ever stop making them till you retire! ^v^
even though I am a mirror dweller, I once had a group of friends to chill with online, but now after a year everyone's gone which leaves me to chill alone with my thoughts, I've never wanted to ever "off" myself ever, I usually crave attention because I don't have a friend group anymore, or its because I wear a small blue neko avatar. I just wish I had friends to talk to with just about anything
Damn, I didn’t enjoy the game too much but that Final Fantasy 15 music made me feel so chill when I heard it. Didn’t realise just how iconic the soundtrack was.
i think the reason people use the mirror mainly is because seeing themself move in a game is so impresive. I mean after i got my full body tracking, looking myself in a mirror ACTUALLY being inside the game amazes me.
Hello! I was the person named “Azya_Foxx” at 4:24 and I’m laughing so hard because I didn’t even realize that you were a UA-camr until today! Normally I don’t sit in front of mirrors all the time, either-I’ll normally be playing games like Freeze Tag or Murder with many close friends if mine, but it was still cool to be included in this video haha!
That’s awesome that YT recommended my video to you! Yea when I was there in The Black Cat, I didn’t speak to anyone. I just went there to get some footage and I dipped ☺️
whenever me and my friends are just chilling and talking we sit infront of a mirror because most of us have full body so it's helpful if our tracking gets wonky and tbh it's really cool to see yourself move in vr. but i never really sat infront of mirrors before i had full body tracking. (also hard asf to calibrate without a mirror)
Me and my cousin just joined VRchat (me on VR and her on her computer) and we were really fascinated by our avatars and the mirrors. We have a lot of fun hanging out so we would join worlds to good around at the mirrors, but we usually joined a lot of avatar worlds if we were gonna do that. We also mostly did it at the beginning and it's not only what we do.
How have I only just discovered this channel? These videos are awesome! Although I think you should have a bit more of an up tempo background tune, they keep audiences a bit more engaged. Otherwise quality editing dude👌
is there a thing called pool dwellers, people that spend all their time playing pool in vr because ive done nothing but pool for 9 hours and i have gained nothing from it. Also i like listening to people talk about things in that game, its just calming idk why. i am a natural born eavesdropper.
Something you didn't bring up and I've said this to so many peoples strangers and friends alike, the reason we ultimately do - or at least for myself - is to fill in that lack of 'sense'. We can't feel if someone is necessarily behind us, or head patting us. We can't feel our friend is hugging us from the side of behind. That's where the mirror is helpful.
These videos and comment sections as well as some others I've been watching recently really showcase the detriments of vrchat, and why it has such a small following to begin with. The youtube highlights that only consist of the 1% of actually funny moments really paint a far funner picture of vrchat than what it really is. A application that mainly houses extraordinarily awkward extroverts looking for interaction, weird cringelords who use it for ERP sessions, or people who are actually broken with an unhealthy obession with getting a different body which vrchat helps to enable. A community in which the most active hide themselves away in private worlds that one must seek out via other discord servers or friends of friends, leaving the public worlds comprised of children, a tad bit of people, and hackers, who all primarily use the same worlds as they have back in 2017. It's no wonder VRchat content has diminished off of youtube, and what it looks like in general.
Pends many hours of my life learning how to use unity and blender so I can look the way I want. When im all finished all I want to do is look at what iv made and feel happy about that. Honestly I have yet to play a game or be on a platform where someone was not trying to tell other people how to play/Use it. I say let people do what they want if they are not harming anyone. Just enjoy your self and have fun.
The mirrors of VRChat helped me crack my trans egg shell. Seeing myself as a woman was so freaking comfortable that people around me knew I was trans before I did. The mirrors of VRC are like the mirror of Erised for me. A pleasant sight, but completely incapable of giving me that body. Also, mirrors are boring. As nice as it is to look at my dream self, VRChat is more fun doing stuff with friends. Like drinking.
I plan on buying vr one day and I have really bad social anxiety, and rarely look in the mirror myself. I'm scared I would get sucked into it, seeing myself as someone else. I've always wanted to be someone else. You're in a world where you can be anyone. Also I rarely go anywhere I'm somewhat of a neet. Just sitting there and hearing real human conversations would be a game changer, I probably wouldn't even speak just listen. Even in games I am too scared to open a mic, even text. can kind of empathize with those people to some degree, those people probably have those same issues.
as a person who sits and mirror dwells for like a few minutes until my friends join , people usually dont disturb me much , especially since people read bios mor often and ive clearly stated that im autistic and such its really nice to just look at your avatars and test them all out , see how they work and what yuou can change with them! so far ive made a few friends while sitting by a mirror in worlds like popcorn palace and the black cat! i have yet to try out at action filled game with my friends since most of them just try on avatars and scare full body tracking players at times!
I’ve encountered a lot of depressed people and people that just wanna end themselves but all I can do is sit frown and be speechless. Honestly I feel bad that people go thru this and I’m happy virtual reality exists and some people just play vr because they honestly hate how they look or just need friends if anything I’m happy that I have a vr I’ve met lots of underage people on vrchat I understand vrchat isn’t for kids but I still except them who knows kids might go thru stuff to SO I EXCEPT EVERYONE understand you might not like someone but you don’t hate them I get vrchat is 13+ but everyone needs an exception!💕
I've gotten fullbody myself. I have to admit u can find me in front of mirrors a lot since I like to meet new people, and well... Most of them r there. Whenever there's people online, who I know enjoy to dance, I immediately try taking them to a just dance world. Or when there's music playing in general I usually get up and vibe a little. It does happen that I just sit there but that's on days I'm honestly to tired to do anything physically active. Whenever someone proposes a fun world or game I'm always down tho. So I don't concider myself a mirror dweller even tho I'm there a lot. (ps love ur channel, keep it up❤️)
I’m pretty new to VRChat but I’ve used VR quite a bit in the past. VR chat is the first time having a mirror in VR and I will admit I absolutely love looking in the mirror and seeing my avatar smiling back at me. I do sometimes spend a few minutes looking in a mirror watching my avatar move with me but I tend to move away after that and find some people that are talking. The only thing is I’d love to be able to see the back and sides of my avatar better.
The only times I've fallen asleep in VR were in front of a mirror for the single reason that I can then see whoever's coming into the world that I'm in. Utility is the king of reasons
I typically am the person of the group to attempt to pry my friends away from a mirror and do a activity like visiting The Great Pug which is not centered around mirrors. Sometime it works other times it doesn't but I atleast understand looking at a mirror once you have done a activity for the day.
I have fbt but mainly use mirrors for calibration and when a bunch of friends are around, makes it easier to talk to them weirdly enough. Very nice vid 👏
I sit at mirrors for hours if it's with a group of people I like. A lot of the time its easier to see everyone at once and its nice to see your own avatar too while you are all hanging out talking.
I am a mirror dweller. I definitely gravitate toward mirrors. It makes social situations feel more relaxed. And I like seeing myself from that angle. I love cuddling in front of a mirror to make sure everything looks okay from that angle. To make sure my avatar doesn’t look like it is inside another persons as I am cuddling. I like the mirror for all sorts of reasons.
Lollll I just realized I’ve seen this guy in VR a few times and haven’t even noticed!! Like a few times, I run into some of the people he has friended too!
I'm late but I encountered this mini disco set up in the black cat. Everyone was just staring at this one area while they had the most npc conversation ever.
I think it's got a lot to do with the fact that it's so mesmerising to look at yourself but have it be someone completely different who looks back at you.
Primary reason I feel most of us flock to mirrors is because of sense. In real life we can use all of our senses to know and feel someone is in a room with us. But in VR we have only limited vision and even more limited hearing, we can't hear someone breathing, we can't hear them shift position on a couch. We loose all of these senses and can't feel like someone is there, so having a mirror helps you fill in those gaps of where the person's out of your vision are
when im at a mirror im always with friends, and its not too look at myself, but instead to get the best view of the whole group, which is a lot harder of your all just huddled up away from a mirror, you have to turn your head over and over and for a long time it aches. Sitting by yourself infront of a mirror or sitting in silence with friends is weird, but if your in a talking group it just makes it easier to see whos talking and what everyone is doing
as a player of 4 years in VRCHAT this is an issue long over due addressing and this video encompasses it perfectly. I love you and hope I find you one day LMAO
I would kinda consider myself a mirror dweller. But the thing about the mirror that makes it so special for me is the magic that is being able to see everyone all at once and have it be as a basic meeting point for people to come together and just have a good time. Mirrors usually serve as a great social spot and I have met most of my friends through this. There's nothing wrong with sitting in front of a mirror for fun and social interactions as it just kinda clicks for some better than it does for others and that's okay. I do be hittin the moves on the dance floor tho...
at the same time,, I do understand people who just enjoy the environment of being around people. even as a kid I remember falling asleep next to bonfires at family gatherings. it could be something like that. they just want to be around people and observe
My grandparents neighborhood use to have a peacock and it loved looking at its self in a mirror. When I see people doing it in VR its all I can think of.
I'm only 2 minutes in but after 2 years of zoom uni I can confidently say: not just a vr thing. 80% of my lectures are spent staring at myself in the lil zoom square. And I'm having a great time.
This is why I always wanted a VR headset. I just want to experience so many things that I can’t experience out of my home. Sadly I don’t have to money to buy an Oculus Quest nor a PC They are just dreams and I glad I have them!
From what I've seen in VRChat, it seems really nice. It also looks like it supports all sorts of technical stuff like GLSL and probably almost everything in Blender. I'm really excited to get into VR, and I'm making my own model for it with a simple orbit animation. Hopefully, it'll work! I actually just want to make a model of myself with various additions.
Second Life is 25 years old and STILL does not have working mirrors! However they’ve always had 3rd person view baked into the controls, so you could still stare at yourself if that’s what you’re into.
At this point I just see mirror dwellers as NPCs, they are located in preset locations, Have a fixed dialog with other npcs and ignore players. That is unless the developers have added one or 2 voice triggers for that character, these activate rare dialog options but they are usually pretty basic or based on scripted events and usually only last a few seconds.
yup. all thats missing is a car to hit them with like in GTA.

As an avatar creator mirrors are an absolute blessing, and as an FBT user I can say the same, its complicated to calibrate without a mirror lol

I went out bought full body basically just sit at mirrors in ambient worlds to relax, its stress relief from other problems.
why do you need full body for that?
@@sleeve9097 No point to play a vr game if your avatar uses straight up plank movement. If cant move joints and all parts then it's not immersive enough to be considered VR
@@ownagemods no point? 99% of vr games don’t have that
@@ownagemods are you saying there’s only 2 VR games worth playing? because only VRC and blade and sorcery support FBT

Ay, can I book an appointment?

THIS needs more Likes. You don't need a therapy license to be able to listen and hear people's problems out. Sometimes even just giving them a place to vent and actually have someone to listen to can make all the difference for someone. And the fact that VR chat gives you a place to actually be yourself, in the comfort of your own home, but also allows you to go out and explore and talk to others in an almost person to person fasion.
Hmu when you've made this world, I'd totally give people some advice
I can’t lie I do have FBT and I sometimes go just poke around in the mirror like “whoa bro” but I don’t stand in front of mirrors by myself, most of the time I go to music worlds and dance or sometimes cuddle with ppl and give headpats :)

I think thats exactly what I did after playing the devouring. Went to the Black Cat and sat at the mirror. Man needed some recovery time
Good stuff, probably the best video I've seen covering the mirrors most people are just straight up bashing. IMO who cares though we literally have no idea what anyone's individual motivations are and if they are having a good time just let them have it. I also think there are far more toxic things going on than people chilling in front of a mirror, for example ur cousin turning a sleep room into a cod lobby 😆
Yo Twice you got Chris watching you bro that's a huge step.
Honestly though. Who cares. The game has something for everyone.
You should post sometime
oh snap I didn't mean to copy 😶
@@TwiceVR Dont worry about it lol, im just glad more content around something that's become commonplace in vrchat is being talked about more :))
It’s ok if a bunch of friends but as alone that’s no good.
i don't mind mirror dwellers. but there's a select toxic few that i despise.
This tbh.
I don't know why they are in public rooms though if they just want to be alone/with few friends.
they could be talking on discord
I was one of the mirror dwellers in the tavern clips with music and I can say the main reason we decide to look in the mirrors for so long is because it makes it easier for us to use the right facial expressions and make sure our full body isn’t going all over the place. Of course I do enjoy playing games with friends but being a dancer, the mirror makes it easier to practice moves :) 💖
We NEED video fully dedicated to your cousin. When he aproach random person and start yeeling at them I can't stop laughing
my theory is this: when talking whit people in a world you want to create something like a vibe zone where you feel good whit the people you talk to. it also allows you to chill in the poses you want whitout constandly needing to turn left or right just to look at your friend. you cant relax this much in the middle of a free space and straring at a boing wall is also not the way to go so you rather chill infront of an mirror. the mirror also gives you the overview over everything near you so that feels good too.
except if your actively talking and interacting whit people, in that case such a vibe zone would maybe interfear whit the fun your having whit the people infront of you. you rather care where your standing. these people are the people randomly standing around in worlds.
also, if your alone and you are to shy to speak to people you want to look bussy or look like you know what your doing and a mirror is a very good place for that.
The intro is immaculate ✨
thx
@@TwiceVR nu problemo
I just got my VR set up like 2 weeks ago and because I didn’t know there were mirrors there I didn’t know why people were gathering around certain places haha. So I just sat down snd would chat with them. I definitely enjoy exploring and drawing more in worlds but I’ve had some great conversations in front of mirrors I didn’t even know were there!
I would love to see VRChat disabling mirrors for a day on April fools 😂 it would be pure chaos and would probably send the VRChat community into a mass panic
i just like mirrors cause i can walk up to them for a couple of minutes and pose. its not every day you can throw on a Megaman avatar and recreate some cool original box art poses.
i just bought myself full body tracking, can't wait till they come in!!!
i spend most of the time looking at an irl mirror than a vrchat one, i use the vrchat mirrors to see if im in the correct avatar then go into murder 4 or somewhere else
im still a visitor on vrchat which is probably gonna stop me from talking to a known user to a trusted user because they'll probably have my avatar or me entirely blocked because they might assume im a crasher, but that aint gonna stop me from talking to people
i'll try to update yall on my fully body tracking experience when they come in!
You and your friends look like you’re having so much fun playing and hanging out together. Makes me feel smile 💕
let me explain why i love mirrors…
OK so basically why I love them is because sometimes I wonder what I look like whenever I’m talking to somebody or I’m going out in public into a public game and I don’t want to look stupid so that’s why I either always have a camera right next to me or a mirror so that I can see everything that’s happening to them but mostly me.
so that’s basically why we all love mirrors
This was one of the truest and funniest videos. Props
gotta love how the reward or end goal for alot of the adventure maps/horror maps is a room with a mirror in it.
Most of my time in vrc has been dealing with people screaming over each other, or just being flat out rude
Ironically, it feels like eavesdropping/talking with someone next to a mirror xD
Strong message near the end too about people with depression
For a sec I thought you'll go all Rambo on why you hate mirror dwellers or smth but I'm really glad you're actually pretty neutral about them. They actually don't do anything bothersome, they just vibing.
I wish more people were as chill as you, dude!
I find the mirror helps with being more expressive in fbt. I sure do love to little dances in front of it.
This is what I'm looking forward to when I get my vr tomorrow, it sounds like it'll help my dysphoria a bit
That is literally why I'm getting a headset
@@mi-vanyan9092 I got mine and it was the best thing ever. I'm still a bit to shy to speak tho because of my voice
I know I've wanted one for ages. Can be whoever and whatever I please. It's most of the reason I'm getting the headset, aside from being able to go on virtual dates with my long distance girlfriend. Hoping to have a Christmas party with her if I get a headset ^^
bro 7:36 - 8:32 LITTERALLY and I mean LITTERALLY made me cry, finally someone understands 😭

We also mostly did it at the beginning and it's not only what we do.

is there a thing called pool dwellers, people that spend all their time playing pool in vr because ive done nothing but pool for 9 hours and i have gained nothing from it.
VRC is the realm of ETERNAL CHILL AND CHAOS
I'd rather play pool then sitting in front of a mirror all day long.

How tf you so talented 😭 this deserves more love
I have fbt but mainly use mirrors for calibration and when a bunch of friends are around, makes it easier to talk to them weirdly enough. Very nice vid 👏
Thanks for watching! 😄
I sit at mirrors for hours if it's with a group of people I like. A lot of the time its easier to see everyone at once and its nice to see your own avatar too while you are all hanging out talking.
wow. amazed to see how far VR chat has comed since 2018. i might try it again
Nice Your Name Poster in your background at 7:16 ! I have the one from the movie theaters when they released the movie in the US
Sleeping in vr is pretty cool minus how uncomfortable it us over a long period, but for naps its perfect
Lollll I just realized I’ve seen this guy in VR a few times and haven’t even noticed!! Like a few times, I run into some of the people he has friended too!
1:37 lol. The pop cat in sunglasses surrounded by anime avatars. Literally me all the times I’ve been in VRChat.
Posing with the muscle Pikachu avatar while listening to Onegai Muscle in the background is the only valid reason to look at yourself in the mirror.
BUT THE ANXIETY I GOT FROM THE 1 SECOND OF THE ALARM SOUND IS INSANE i need therapy
This is why I always wanted a VR headset. I just want to experience so many things that I can’t experience out of my home. Sadly I don’t have to money to buy an Oculus Quest nor a PC
They are just dreams and I glad I have them!
