A short trip on the Dartmouth Steam Railway 4K

Here we take a short trip on the Dartmouth Steam Railway from Paignton to Kingswear and on by ferry to Dartmouth. The line was bought from BR in the early 1970's and has always been a commercial operation rather than an enthusiast led heritage railway. Today the operating company owns the railway, a bus company and various boats allowing it to offer "Round Robin" tours featuring trains, boats and buses - possibly a unique heritage offering in the UK. The main passenger business is tourists and the trains and timetables are geared to this with carriages modified to take pushchairs and the like and a ticketing system that allocates you to a coach and seat, the only problem is the complete lack of any parking at any of the stations, and council car parks that aren't that conveniently located and that expect you to pay in advance - a bit difficult when you don't know how long you will be!
