A conventional camera with lens and gimbal is around 2 kg, the Osmo 3 is less than 200 g. Easy choice. I see some real estate photographers have already started using it for walkthroughs. This is the real digital revolution. There are many things the Osmo 3 cannot do, but what it does, it does with style.

Hi Matt, I’m a huge fan of Japan - one of my favourite countries…. I’ve photographed it using a Nikon D300, D500, Z6 I have thousands of shots all over the country. Recently I’ve upgraded to the Z8 and can’t wait to get back, to use my new Z8. We have travelled extensively on cruise ship, Shinkazen, road and air …I have the DJI Pocket 1 ..take it easy regards Kevin

Yes to DJI Osmo Pocket 3.
    Yes to Nikkor Plena 135mm.
    Yes to Nikon Zf.
Kudos & TY for the great sample and travel photos. Kudos and TY also for the pleasant tour of Japan while demonstrating how travel and photography share the ability to give us different perspectives. Lovely thought process and visuals. Well done.
    Thank you!

Hi Matt. This is the first video of yours I have watched, as it came up because I have been viewing a lot of DJI Pocket 3 videos. I really appreciate how much work you have put into this so I've suscrobed! I will probably buy the Pocket 3 as it looks really good and I have a trip to Japan coming up in 2024. Keep up the good work!

One thing in your 'comfort zone', just as in Melbourne, all the cars drive on the 'wrong' side of the road, This takes some adjustment for us North Americans. Kyoto is one of my favourite places on earth.

Thank you for adding the DJI stills at the end of the video. All the reviews make reference to its vlogging capabilities but I am considering it as a small travel stills camera to use instead a phone or a point and shoot camera.

While searching for some videos about DJI Osmo Pocket 3 your video pop up and to be honest I loved more to see all your photos with the Nikon, wow amazing photos. I enjoyed the video in general for sure but those photos are amazing. I never been in Japan but is on my list to go, I have travelled to so many other countries but still a lot more to explore. Great video and thanks for sharing.

Het Matt! The DJI Pocket 3 looks like a great travel companion. Travel definitely inspires and invigorates. Great shots from the Zf and Z8 too, not to mention Chloe's excellent rendering of Mt. Fuji -- a budding Hokusai! Happy trails!

A sensitive and creative soul using photography and video to portray life and scenery in well trodden tourist attractions of Japan. Thank you for sharing your work. Nothing technical about the DJI Osmo Pocket 3. Just the end results speaks volume of its capability. The likes of Nikon and Canon are facing an existential threat from this little known Chinese drone maker who now makes gimbal cameras that can shoot decent videos. So, gone are the heavy and bulky cameras which requires both hands to hold the camera. Pocket 3 is light.

Great Matt. Just returned from Tuscany myself and it was so nice being out in the world again. My 24-120 f4 and 70-180 2.8 worked great and were easy to carry. I don't do enough video but probably should start!

Hello Matt, Thank you for shiring part of your family holiday. I know what you mean going the new place dose open your eyes and mind to new ways of seeing. Some stuning images and who says f4 lenses are not fast enough for low light. You have some super still images. Great to see the 135mm inaction to. Keep well, keep safe and just enjoy Japan.

I've been to Japan during the cherry blossom in 2008 and it was quite the experience. So many unexpected and overwhelming things to see... back then I had the D80, an 18-135mm Kit lens and a 50mm prime.
    I love the country.
Thanks for bringing back the memories.

Good day Matt, Japan ,Tokyo and Kyoto are favorite travel destinations for us when we are not visiting Australia. We will be in Noosa next week and Melbourne on the following Monday. I'm taking my Z8, Zf and Z6 mk2 bodies with 400/4.5 S, 24-120/4 S, 24-70 /4 S and 50/1.8 S lenses. I'm getting too old to include the heavier glass in my backpack. I have included the Z6 not because I need it, but because I like it. Our home town is Ottawa.

    Hi Matt
I had my first trip to Japan last month and, like you, found it fascinating.
I love to travel, have visited 10 countries this year, all in Europe except Japan. I travel with a Lumix G9 and Olympus 12-40 zoom. I also have the original Osmo Pocket but will be upgrading to a v3 for a trip to Antarctica in early 2024.
Have subscribed to your channel; keep up the good work 👍.

Great video Matt. I guess you came up on my feed due to your DJI Pocket 3 tag. I have the original DJI Pocket, but haven't used it as much as I thought I would. This new one looks great and I think that I'm going to spring for it. I have traveled all over the world, and been to Japan a half a dozen times, loved it there. I'm a Canon and iPhone shooter and have tens of thousands of pictures. I'm going to subscribe and follow you around!

Thank you so much Matt for sharing your travel experiences in Japan. Amazing footage with the DJI Pocket 3. One would expect a bit of rolling shutter at 320 kph.
After having shot for a couple of decades with a Nikon FE2 and F2, I find the Zf appealing enough to sway me into the mirrorless world. Though not quite yet. My Nikon D780 is fulfilling all my needs at the moment. Low light and low temperature performance with the D780 still beats MILC. The battery life is phenomenal. Of course there are tradeoffs, but, as you say, it depends on your use case.

    • @MattIrwinPhotography

Japan was wonderful. The D780 is very capable. Love the Pocket for this sort of thing. Indeed travel is a great usecase for it. 📷👍😀

Great video. I also like to travel . I thought I 'retired' as a teacher almost five years ago. Since then I have worked as an expedition guide on expedition ships mainly in Tasmania and the Kimberley coast. I am about to fly to Rio de Janeiro onto Antarctica for five month season. I have used a variety of cameras to capture where I have been. Sony A7r III and Lumix TZ90 have been the main ones, and three weeks ago Sony ZV-E1 for the upcoming season. But last week I purchased the Osmo pocket 3 as it will be a lot easier than ZV E-1 as I also will be driving a Zodiac.Keep up the great work!!

How is the image quality compared to the Nikon Z30? I have a Z30 with a Zihiyun Weebill S, would this be a good replacement without sacrificing image quality?

    • @petersuvara
      @petersuvara 10 місяців тому +1

It’s not as good as the Z30. I have the Z30 and two gimbals.
You can get far better quality.
But if you just want phone quality footage like the Pocket 3, you can just use your phone.
The stabilisation of the pocket 3 is also off putting when vlogging/walking.
I am not going to get the pocket 3 because the Z30 is just better, though a little bigger.

    • @whatthefitt

My channels are just about a year old now… we just travelled to Brisbane with a Z30 and Z9 and 4 lenses. Ha… vlogging on the Z30 with a gimbal is a little conspicuous . 😅
But quality wise, the Z30 beats the pocket 3, also easier to do a far wider range of things on the Z30.
I have the DJI RS3 Mini for low light (with attached light) and also the Zhuyun Crane M2S, which is far lighter for day time vlogging without an additional light.
Quality of the pocket 3 and walking with it is pretty yucky compared tot the Z30, so not going for the DJI pocket 3.
