It's a fair question. It could be that the area where they (the girls) do their job is all over the place. Combine this with a possible thinned out police force and it's easy to realise that's just an impossible task unless there is concrete reason to do so.
I mean, there are other tasks the police need to attend to.

Death row nowadays is a sentence of 10 yrs or more.
The justice system that has a death sentence for punishment is a joke.
The only thing different from a lifer is death row is solitary confinement, they have less privileges, and most, if not all are separated from the general population.
      Whoop dee do..

We need to stand up for facts and truth.
As a matter of a fact, I truly and honestly appreciate your argument.
There are, and if we have the time to cite every credited acclaim to every case we'll be very busy, but many executions have killed many innocent people.
We are humans with interest in, intelligence for, and create emotional duties that mold people into what they are.
It's a goddam tough job to be in law enforcement, it pays, it employs our friends, neighbors and some cases, family..
It is very unfair for people to serve sentences for crimes they truly did not commit.

I was upset and angry at first too, but you probably have heard of Stockholm syndrome...even if it's not completely similar, she knew 1 thing as long as he was concentration on others he wasn't abusing her. The terror is in every fibre of her being.
He by then knew everything about her, where she lived, her parents, her school even the colours of her favourite dress, the name of her pets, simply everything.
Which meant he threatened her about everything in case she thought of running...he made that impossible in her mind. In her mind he would always find her.
He became the embodiment of her nightmares for years still to come and already present.
There is just NO WAY she would run. Not even if she was threatened... that's how and why. I hope this gives you a bit of insight as to why she did what she did.
And she never really got away, I have no doubt that she is a mess. There aren't any doctors that can fix what he broke, he decimated her. Her psyche is totally beyond repair. We can only hope she ever had some form of normalcy in her life or something that resembles happiness. I don't pray nor belief but for that I would pray on my knees.

Also have you heard about the concentration camps in ww2? Or what the Spanish did during the inquisition? Or what the drug cartels do in South America? Or how some groups circumcise girls at the age when menses begin without anesthesia and sometimes with pieces of glass so that when they become women they will never feel pleasure from sex?
