      Her name was Mary Mahoney. I lived in DC when this occurred. Mary worked in the White House and was going to testify in the Kenneth Star investigation dealing withe the Clintons. I remember taking a writers course at a community center when Bill ran against Dole. Right down the street from Comet Ping Pong on Wisconsin Avenue. I think that crime upset that community.

Anyway a pretty famous case of a female who went over seas to investigate Clintons war crimes of literally massacring villages, that reporter was found dead with 2 shots to the back of the head while the case was closed and deemed as a suicide.

    I was new in the U.S when this happened, I was working in a restaurant couple of blocks down the road on Wisconsin and N st in Georgetown, I remember I took a break that day and went to check it out, and later that day I saw myself on the 6 o'clock news along with the by standards looking at the flowers people put on the door step of the coffee house, I was so worried since I've been told that Georgetown is the safest place in DC at that time. Now for the first time I learned who committed this horrific crime after 24 years in the U.S, and through binge watching The FBI files. This world is indeed very small!

One evening, a man walked into the booth, held out a paper bag and demanded the takings for the evening. The very brave aunt did as she'd been taught: kept the man talking, meanwhile pressing down on the alarm under the desk, to alert the local police station. The the 'phone rang, the robber picked up said: 'Yes Sir' and put down the receiver. Laughing, he told the aunt that the local police station had called to tell her she was inadvertently pressing the alarm. She laughed, took and filled his bag to the brim and he left.

      Some of them feel no remorse some of them feel remorse, some of them do it for no reason others do it because they don't know how to get out of an already bad situation on the one side some people become criminals out of choice, others become criminals because they feel like they don't have a choice every criminal is different and with some of them you think, if there are enough negative things stacked against someone how many more would it take for someone who is relatively normal to make a bad decision, the worst part is that most of us are capable of doing really bad things to others if only enough bad things happen and when you fight someone the thing you should fear most is the damage you can do because without even realizing it the damage you can inflict is a lot more than you know when you are inflicting it and therefore you should avoid all fights possible, not for your own safety but just so you don't end up making someone disabled or worst.

      they should have turned Cooper's wife way earlier. They had her cold on weapons charges, and they knew she played an active role in the racketeering gang. They should have told her they were going to throw her old ass mother into federal prison on an Obstruction charge. That's how I'd have played it. I'd have gone and picked Cooper's wife up from work, driven her to her mother's house, and when we got there and she asked why are we at my mother's house I'd have told her flat out, so you can watch me go arrest your old ass mom and send her up on a five year federal stint. I'd have then asked her if she thought her mother was likely to survive the fights and violence inside, and told her that when she eventually got beaten to death, a couple inmates would go dig a grave in the cemetary, throw her old ass in the hole, and that'd be that. No wake, no funeral, no luxiorious casket, no church, family, no friends, no pastor. Just a couple of trustees shoveling dirt on top of her.

    I was born in Seattle in 1973, where I grew up. Japanese-American. WHY does a woman stay with a man, who she KNOWS is involved in these awful crimes? And WHY as a woman, do you HELP your bad character husband?

    • @unappealingundesirable2826
      @unappealingundesirable2826 3 роки тому

      @___________ I get what you mean. I know that growing up in Seattle (not saying everything was perfect here), and Japanese-American (yes, I did get to witness people of other backgrounds, so not even I was 100% sheltered), has me very jaded. At 48 in 2021, I STILL just can't fathom some of these "helpers" of the perp! Ok, if (I'm not condoning this) a fraternity boy "takes advantage" of a girl, I can totally see his "frat brothers" helping cover for him. On Cold Case Files, there was a 25-30 year old perp, and his GRANDMOTHER was helping him try to cover it up, by doctoring photos!! A GRANDMOTHER!! But, I will admit: My problem is that I compare her with MY grandmother, a "little old lady" who would never have helped me cover up for a crime. But, I do get what you're saying.

      The FBI didn't solve this. The Washington Post continuously embarassing the D.C. police regarding the case And America's Most Wanted covering the story 3-months after the fact drove in two tips that solved the case. Without the tips from AMW and the pressure from Starbuck's CEO pushing WaPo to cover it, like most D.C. murders, they'd have NEVER solved this. D.C. police didn't even have a suspect 3-months into the investigation! AMW gave them Cooper on a silver platter. And that was because Cooper was so sure it'd never be solved by D.C. police that he openly bragged about the killings to a handful of people. The FBI came in at the end once all the hard-work had been done and basically just surveilled Cooper, who was so emboldened by the ineptitude of D.C. police being unable to solve ANYTHING that by the time he realized they were investigating him he'd already incriminated himself beyond excuse.

    Cooper's attorneys examined the evidence and learned how many of Cooper's former associates had agreed to testify against him. One of them would describe precisely how Cooper had planned the Starbucks episode. Cooper was persuaded to accept a deal that spared his life and protected his wife and mother from prosecution as accomplices.
    On April 25, 2000, a week before his trial was to begin, Cooper came into court to plead guilty to the forty-seven counts against him, including the Starbucks murders. As he admitted to each charge, one after the other, he wept, but he never expressed remorse to the relatives of the victims who packed the courtroom. He received a sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole. Prosecutors also agreed not to pursue charges against his wife or mother, both of whom had assisted him in some manner.
    The mother of one of Cooper's victims said, "You could just detect the demon inside this young man's body."

    Barber should have been given some consideration that he didn’t go with Cooper. Yes he did some wrong but he didn’t participate & he probably just forgot about it.

    Love this show from SOUTH AFRICA, just wish more forensic ballistic could be followed and stay on the trail of murders for as long as US officials do. The dedication they put to their work is amazing.
    I know proffesional soccer goalkeeper who was shot at girlfriends house while they were having a simple get together situation of drinks and braai. To this day the case is still dragging for the past 8 years, his father even died 4 years later from a heart attack cos he loved his son dearly and was goalkeeper of the national team. Was even part of the soccer world cup squad in 2010 when we hosted. In my country the law favours the criminals sad reality😢

      Ask yourself,…. Why? Do you need to see a psychiatrist? Have you ever killed a small animal? Have you set fire to buildings or cars? Have you ever stabbed a baby! Do you hate your mother and father? ❤
