I am a huge collector of receivers ... not a ham operator..just am into receivers. icom ic-r85 alnico sr-8 yeasu frg7,7700,8800 kenwood 1000,2000,5000..drake a and b...both.. this is hands down the best receiver you can buy on the market today. yes! it is is expensive! but as a collector of receivers this is the crowning jewel of my collection. if you want to avoid all the cost of of finding "the one" get this one. Icom nailed it with this one big time!!!

Not even P25 Phase II, for that price ? ridiculous. Why implement UHF in 2021 without all digital modes ?

I and many people have no need for P25 II. As lots of people have said, it’s not a scanner. It’s the best general coverage receiver for the price. Selectivity and sensitivity is incredible. BTW, this receiver came out 4 years ago.

Yes, as long as you intend to use all the features and can make use of scanning more than just on or two bands.

Try to go up to the FM broadcast band (65 mHz - 108 mhz)
