he was actually 12 when he played it in the competition, in the anime 2 years later he's 14 and in 8th grade. It's weird how he looked like 4 but just 2 years he look exactly like his age.

The difference between 12 and 14 years is the difference between a newborn and a member of the society.
Even though you're not quite an adult with 14 years, your maturing a lot between 12 and 14, psychically and physically.
As the person him/herself it's not recognizable, but lucky me was able to observe this through my young chess-students.
      It's miraculous.

this anime made me realize that I couldn't leave my past years of piano behind. even if my family doesn't care that I play. I picked up lessons again, and just today while I was at my piano lesson, he asked me to slow down the song I was playing. his words after that request were "enjoy the journey". I paused internally and looked at him. without saying anything I thought " you are the teacher I've been looking for". I'm still not very good, but I can already see progress from these few weeks. funny how an anime can give you inspiration 🙂

I can't believe I actually managed to play this in front of an audience, albeit under tempo by a notch. I remember starting this piece the June I turned 13 and finally performing it in January. Im so proud bc I worked on it for at least half a year and I have extreme stage freight. This isn't to brag, I'm just so happy that I managed to do it at last...
I wish I was as good as Kousei, I have been playing for 6 years at that point and I felt like I was 2 years behind, and all my friends playing piano since they were 4-5 didn't help either. They were so surprised when I played this, I felt so happy that I actually made someone happy and surprised from my musical ability (since my violin skills suck Im not even joking LOL)

I don't know why but I can really relate to this anime. I started playing the piano when I was 11, I had a private teacher (former Yamaha teacher) who would come to my house once a week as back then, we couldn't really afford formal teachings from accredited piano teachers. This man was a also taxi driver but secretly taught kids music as a side job (originally he wanted to establish a music school in Middle East but failed to do so). He was by far one of the best teachers I've ever had and inspired me to passionately pursue classical piano. Sadly 4 years later, I received a tragic news on a Monday morning from my mom, telling me that he died of a heart attack. Sudden death on a casual Monday morning. I was in sorrow... Since then, I have stopped playing the piano. I gave up and I saw no point in continuing learning the piano. I lost a mentor who was dear to me. For a solid 3 years, I haven't played the piano despite its constant presence in my living room. Then, I saw The Pianist out of curiosity as most people said it was an astounding movie...That triggered my passion for piano again...Then came Your Lie In April...at that point, I was craving for piano.
