Kudos to that light weight crest model AC for bossing the heavy weight mirage AC, despite losing an arm and a head.
Well light weights are good for 1v1 but not for group fights, and its amazing how.you noticed the diff companies

@@kamidesu6414 I've been in love with this franchise since I was 12 haha, I always loved the CGI cutscenes and wished they'd make an actual show or anime about it as well.
That's going to leave a huge hole in his paycheck though.

If you're wondering how the first Crest AC can continue minus the arm and head, the head is only for scouting. The core contains the cockpit and fire control unit.

Dude, this takes me back. There were four of us, my brothers and sister. And we all played the hell out of this game.
This was my first Armored Core back in the day and I can't help but love this intro the most. AC4 is probably my favorite because of the AALIYAH, but man I love the duo combat of this one. So rich in story.
god after playing AC6 I went back to play this and AC3SL on my emulator and instantly reminded me how none of the newer generation AC games could even come close to the 3rd gens. The entire 3rd gen AC line of games were just in a league of their own but AC3 and AC3SL were absolute masterpieces. Hands down the two best games in the entire franchise

Man, Armored Core series on the PS2 was the way to go. Nowadays all I ever keep hearing is either Armored Core 4 or 5. Plus I like the mech designs on AC2 and 3 far more than later titles.

I love all of the AC games but after playing AC2, I gotta say, I would've loved it if they had kept building on what the older gen AC games did, I would die to play a modern old-gen AC game.
Played all the way up through Silent Line (I think I played Nexus? Hard to remember honestly).
I really wish they'd go back to the feel of those games where your AC had more weight to them (I mean, unless you specc'd *hard* into being a lightweight build)
The whole line of AC3 is the pinnacle of classic AC. I still like 4 despite being basically different games at that point.
I am yet to encounter anyone who likes V. V and VD are so bad they killed armored core. It's also why I'm not optimistic at all about the allegedly upcoming armored core game, since V/VD are the last AC games From made, and they are pretty bad.

One of the very best intro in the series
Best armored core ever made. The story, the perfected gameplay, so many customisation options, the variety in the missions, the music, the graphics, the stages, everything. It just has a heart and soul that no other Armored Core game that came before or after, ever managed to capture.
Im with you, i started with AC4 and i like 6 a lot but yeah 3rd gen was the best
I love this intro because it perfectly highlights how you'd see combat between real mechs go. No fancy shit, actual tactics and no over-the-top reactions or monologues, just the pure grit of urban combat and the dogma of "Kill or be killed." If it's one thing that From Soft does well with its mech games that many Japanese studios botch it's making sure the fights are realistic and not flashy. A rarity within the genre.
The size would be smaller though, likely smaller than a tank because mechs are not as good as tanks at taking damage.
Something like the Wolverine from C&C would be more realistic.

Oh yeah, and there's literal dialogue and monologue in the AC games during boss battles and encounter with enemy aces. Dumbass

As far as the game itself goes, there's very little dialogue beyond what is practical to say in the middle of fights.
Monologues are almost nonexistent. Only ones I can think of that come close to it are the part leading up to fighting Nineball in MoA and the final faceoff with Leos Klein at Phobos.
Exposition inside missions is kept to a minimum (too much so at times) on top of that.
This is the AC game that got me into all the other AC and I think this opening is way better than AC5

its the greatest intro in the 3rd generation of AC games in my opinion and the first armored core I've played
I love how you can actually make these Armored Cores your ACs in-game and they might actually similarly.
There isn't exactly any Armored Core games where you couldn't remake the "poster-boy". It just so happens that, with the exception of the heavyweight red AC, none of the ones featured here are all that viable because they all suffer from Overweight issues due to the weapons they use and don't move nearly as quick as they do in-game

I can already see it teasing Bloodborne two and it's just a combined remake of 1-3 with all spin offs between them.
I remember telling kids in my class about this game during lunch. And they responded to me saying, oh do you mean that incredibles video game with frozone and mr incredibles? What!?!
I don't usually notice any difference in these upscales, that could just be because my eyes are bad, but this time i noticed a few times where ACs recoiled a bit from taking machine gun fire.

That's pretty much always been the case with cover ACs up until 4. They were either overweight and unusable (Moa and AC 2 cover ACs) or usable, but total pieces of trash (AC1 and Project Phantasma cover ACs)

if your core can't scoot around like this you need a better generator or more efficient boosters. Besides if it was really 'like the game' everyone would just be short booster hopping everywhere. And you don't need the busted cheat parts to do it.
I tried building the blue Crest AC in game, the one with the 1000 round machine gun, small missiles, grenade launcher, and anti-missile extension, but discovered that it's actually overweight. I dunno where I can cut weight to make it work, maybe just leave the left arm empty? I dunno.
We can finally play a mouse and keyboard supported AC! I just need that fancy keyboard the ac pilot is using.

I was always dissapointed that the gun in that particular chest/torso piece wasn't functional...
It is functional, as long as you devote ANY stats to it. It's the anti-missile system, which shoots bullets or lasers to intercept enemy missiles. Thing is, it's hard to see because you'd otherwise be dazzled by your own defensive fire, and nobody devoted any equipment to that because it's a waste of space and energy you could use to dodge. Missiles aren't that hard to evade, especially with Overboost and OB-Cancel.
@@arcdecibel9986 Indeed! It took me a WHILE to figure out it was an anti-ballistic system. When I realized that's what it was, I devoted even harder into crest cores over mirage. Oh the hp was nice and all, but OB and anti-missile that... I remember being weirdly competent? Oh yeah, I ate that up. Helps that I loved using the hover "Legs", so any extra defensive boost helped.
@@tybirous3417 Oh, I bet it did, but under the Common Mech Conventions of 1995, Article 1, Section A, 1.2 - Rule of Cool, you would be forced to endure insults from other players about your machine effectively being a car. For example, they're well within their rights to call you a soccer mom taking the safe route in your minivan.
Harsh, but trust me, I've been on the other end of that as a Battletech bubba who has used lots of tanks in the past. Tactically, it was the right move at those times, but you can win a battle and lose the war. CMC 95 merely formalized the unspoken convention that mechs ONLY exist because they're so cool. With that in mind, using something other than a mech obviates the game. I was forced to admit that they had a point.
That said, no sincere personal judgement is actually in effect during these disputes. It's merely trash-talk if someone compliments you on being so "handi-capable" with your Hover-round."

its irritating in the intro they show all this fun shooting, but you dont get to shoot anything because there is never enough ammo to kill the bad guys unless your perfect. its one of the dumber parts of the game, that whole "everything costs money" crap they like to do, so if your even mediocre at playing video games you cant play this one at all, like you cant win ever , or even upgrade your equipment unless your pretty good out of the box.
Bro the machine the guy at the end uses has like a 1000 rounds of ammunition. You have to actively TRY to use all that up in a mission
Dawg the machine gun the poster boy is using has like 1000 ammo. you gotta be blind to use all of those up and STILL not have killed the enemy.

That seems to be the case with these types of franchises. Most everything in the game itself is heavily recycled content with some new things thrown in. More like expansions rather than true sequels. FS started doing this after AC2 and didn't stop until AC4.
@@vXArchonXv they STARTED that with AC2? AC, PP, and MoA were all essentially the same game with different story and some new parts... the franchise copied itself from day one

Just realized after all these years you don't actually see the conclusion of the duel between the Mirage heavy AC and the Crest armless AC. It's implied the Crest AC wins, but you never know. The second Crest AC might have to deal with the heavy Mirage on his own.
Man, crest makes some of the best-looking ACs
