First AC game I ever played. Used a mobility loadout with lock-on missiles and Assault Rifles as a focus. Don't think I was very good (was 11), but still enjoyed the hell out of it, and was actually stunned when Huntress revealed her true colours. A small moment, but it really taught me to think about the situation more seriously and was still remembered by me years later.
I was 14 when this game came into my possession. Quit playing final fantasy 11 for it. I started out with energy weapons and watched my energy gauge more than my health bar. About halfway through the game a build like this won’t complete a sortie, but by then I was so rich from not having to pay for ammunition that whole time that I could buy whatever mech I wanted. 8500 ap, an energy tank that never quit twin lock-on missiles max 2x12 and cannons in both arms. I was unstoppable even with a slow ac. From what I’ve seen AC6 is better in every way but I can’t play it because I don’t have a PC.
Just new to tha AC franchise and Armored Core 3 (portable)was my first game. Its supposed to be my bro who's playing this as he requested me to look for this game but I ended up enjoying it. And as time passed by being a Raven, I too was surprised when I realised they betrayed us. Poor them, they didn't stood a chance against a tank with loads of weapons with strong firepower.
What if FROM SOFTWARE put all of the PS1 and PS2 AC Games on Steam with multiplayer support and modding? Just imagine what could come of it: New parts, new levels, music mods, overhauls, new multiplayer maps and more. I'd like to see each game released individually, but if they had a bundle deal for $80, I'd buy it in a heart beat.
I love the opening trailer and the music to go along with it fits perfectly. I can't help but say " Oh Crap!" everytime the second raven gets it's arm shot off by that heavy AC and the camera zooms in slow motion and at 1:00 the music builds and stops while the light AC lands all cool style. Seen it a hundred times and still get goosebumps with the awesome entrances.
Might be an old comment, but after having just seen the opening cutscene, the theme really felt like what I wanted peak Armored Core to feel like, with its desperation and doom that one side can definitely wipe the other and both engage each other in a violent aggression that merges with cold calculation, hunters being the hunted, roles changing in mere seconds then flipping back moments later, always on the verge of teetering off the edge losing control as death awaits them.
Currently playing through Armored Core 3 Portable on the PPSSPP Emulator to hype myself up for Armored Core VI. I'll see you fellow Ravens soon. Whether it's on the battlefield, in the Arena, as allies or as adversaries, we Ravens shall fly once more.
Do me a solid, and go fight Royal Mist with a set up involving Hover legs, Crow stealth extension, no OP-I, Energy Shotgun, Flamethrower, and MX/002 EO Core. You can also use Moonlight with heavy Shotgun and Rockets. Crow gets you in and keeps his missile locks off of ya if you get out of position. Mak hover legs are agile enough without boosting you can out counter turn Royal Mist in figure 8 strafe's, stay out missile range, and with either set up you can get into optimal position to melt with the EO+E Shot+Flame combo or pelt away with shotty and rockets between Moonlight strikes. Control distance and range and you can "tank" potential missile salvos by letting yourself stay in his AI lock range to get in good shots by popping Crow, and moving in before the effect wears off. Bonus points if you can get a 25 s kill on him with it.
I bought armored core 3 portable on my psp from Japan for $10...even though I can’t read Japanese. Still, every time I hear the music, I get chills down my spine and get a large dose of nostalgia. So I tried to play it. Got to the third mission, but it had been so long that I forgot what I was supposed to do and couldn’t get any further.
Most computers and mobile phones are capable of running PPSSPP (a PSP emulator), which can run the AC3, SL, and LR ports very well, with only a few issues popin up that I remember (Submarine mission from SL had some weird lighting bugs to name one). Emulation isnt for everyone, and theres an argument to be made against it, but there are options out there
Closest we've got to this is Titanfall / Apex Legends... Damn, I wish this game series had taken off. AC II and III were the first games I actually bought for myself - played AC2 repeatedly as a new save since I didn't have a memory card at the time hahaha

Best Armored Core ever made. The story, the perfected gameplay, so many customisation options, the music, the graphics, everything. There's just something about it that i feel will never be replicated by any other titles, aside from its expansions.
And im new to armored core i got into it in 2006 but I play the early 2000 ones and the ones today but I got into it fast and now it is one of my all time favorite games now I wish it did know about it sooner, I want a real armored core...

As a massive nerd of the game; the OB cores, one of which you see in this picture, have in-built missile interceptors which will automatically, and rather feebly, attempt to shoot down incoming missile projectiles. The alternate versions, EO (Exceed-Orbit) cores lose the ability to intercept missiles without an extension, but can fire a recharging energy-based laser at enemy mechs. In AC: Silent Line, they introduced solid-based EO cores which had more damage, but could not regenerate.
armored core 3 man good game and hack and slah hardcore game some mission are though as balls to complete and some missions are one life oportunity you die you need to start all over again that mission over and over for me i never finisned the game am still trying to finish
Last Raven will destroy you. The game imo is the hardest in the entire AC series by far. Once you get a hang of the controls though, you'll pretty much just bunny hop your way to victory.

Axel Shinoda I wouldn't say "awesome" until you've achieved some of the feats other players have in AC. AC had this wonderful habit of busting you down every time you got cocky and said "I'm awesome"
actually ive built many great AC`s and my best was the Tank one ive made which by far has a high attack and defense and its health well its at the limit and i know it may be slow but its power is magnificant

I can take down giant MT's in three shots with some of my AC's and have also in armored core 5 and verdict been forced to solo some of the strongest teams and have won with a light weight which I might add is one of the hardest most nope filled experiences I've had but still managed. The fact is despite all my experience as a pilot in these I still find that those who get cocky die very fast. I've had it happen to me some and I learned to keep a cool head and low ego. I also will add that without the weapons I use to kill it in three shots I've also taken down giant MTS in roughly a minute with a light weight with things like handguns and stuff. Arms Forts as well...

AC3 is proof that gamers have gotten weak and complacent. Gamers always saying: dark souls is hard. AC6 rage quit on tutorial boss. From software games are too hard. Meanwhile AC3 will punish you with prejudice for every tiny little mistake you make. You can have the best mech in the game and bosses will still force feed you L’s and make you so dead you’ll be reincarnated as an abortion. Todays gamers would not survive against a real raven.
@@Vross_MKII Honestly, to me the early gens felt harder out of the gate than they probably should be mainly because King's Field's controls don't work or feel very good in a 3rd person action game- compared to them being fairly standard from past generations for the 1st person dungeon crawlers the Verdite trilogy games were. The moment you can rebind the controls so all movement is done on the d-pad and all camera is on the shoulder buttons, things feel way easier to control and you aren't getting torn to shreds while you fumble with just trying to move. Not to downplay how many genuine threats the games presented, just when you can comfortably control your movement, a lot of that is mitigated. But I'm old and grew up on those old controls and remember when dual analog stick controls were billed a gimmick rather than the standard interface people take for granted now. Seeing self proclaimed "hardcore fromsoftware fans" (who despite such claims did not seem to know the company existed before 2012 and was one of 3D developers for the PSX) going back to the old AC gens only to be incapable of wrapping their heads around a camera linked to the movement is pretty entertaining.

It's an alterative to the overboost. You just press the right analog stick when using a core that has them.

@@Vross_MKII Honestly, to me the early gens felt harder out of the gate than they probably should be mainly because King's Field's controls don't work or feel very good in a 3rd person action game- compared to them being fairly standard from past generations for the 1st person dungeon crawlers the Verdite trilogy games were. The moment you can rebind the controls so all movement is done on the d-pad and all camera is on the shoulder buttons, things feel way easier to control and you aren't getting torn to shreds while you fumble with just trying to move. Not to downplay how many genuine threats the games presented, just when you can comfortably control your movement, a lot of that is mitigated.
But I'm old and grew up on those old controls and remember when dual analog stick controls were billed a gimmick rather than the standard interface people take for granted now. Seeing self proclaimed "hardcore fromsoftware fans" (who despite such claims did not seem to know the company existed before 2012 and was one of 3D developers for the PSX) going back to the old AC gens only to be incapable of wrapping their heads around a camera linked to the movement is pretty entertaining.
