Actually Agurin, the guy who consistently hits rank 1 on EUW and this year he hit rank 1 in Korea in like 2 weeks said the exact same thing about his strategy for solo q, i mean to always do a "correct" play and even if it doesn't work out once or even many times it doesn't mean it's incorrect play, because over hundreds of games it's gonna pay off, to minimalize the risk and go only for plays with high propability to succeed etc.
It's funny how they both don't concider themselves exeptional players in terms of mechanics and it's true that although they're both really good there are many more mechanically gifted players who can't climb so fast and so consistently as those two, it's like they just see the game in the broader way, they see the climb as a whole, they understand what to do to have win rate ;p
They also have a strong mental. I feel like we all can adopt some of this way of thinking, maybe not everyone can be rank 1, but i think everyone can increase their rank by adopting some of this attitude.

    • @lsw99bricks
      @lsw99bricks 9 місяців тому +11

I dont think agurin has a mental strength above average. I realized he is more calm since he started streaming in english tho. Maybe because it takes enough brain capacity to speak in your second language or because of the proven fact that you might switch personality as well when switching between languages. But in german he tended to be quickly distracted by his team making wrong decisions and complained a lot (mostly without insults tho). He does what was mentioned in the video: if enemy bot lane is inting, even their mid is gonna be distracted by it. I agree that agurin might not let this attitude influence his decisions but it def takes some if his capacity for the game

It's almost like league is like chess. If you're having fun while playing chess, you're not playing optimally. Similarly, even if you make a blunder or mistake in chess but your opponent doesn't see it and punish it, that doesn't make your blunder a good thing, it was still bad. You just got lucky.

Good video but one thing I disagree with is that its more impressive to hit rank 1 on the super server because even bronze players are diamond. That stuff doesnt matter to the high challenger level players anyways. The top of the ladder players like beifeng/dopa/chovy/showmaker are competing against each other, they dont care about which bronze players are actually diamond because they never get into game with them anyways.
For that reason the Korean server is not easier to get rank 1 than the superserver.
The superserver is better top down because the silver players on the superserver are way better, but Korean challenger and superserver challenger are comparable.
But once again, it doesnt matter which bronze players are better when assessing rank 1. It just matters who the top 10 are.

Dopa was, and probably is, the hottest thing to ever hit league of legends. He was the greatest of his time but his calculated symmetry and dissection of the game was years ahead of his competition.
Even if Faker out classes Dopa in a 1v1, it's not without taking pages from Dopa's handbook on how to play the game from a objective and subjective standpoint. Dopa will remain number 1 in many opinions because he revolutionized the entire solo Q experience and that's something no one can claim to this day.

I think it isn't a debate over who the greatest is. I think that easily goes to Faker. As for the BEST? There are two categories in my mind.
Pro play: Faker isn't just mechanically gifted, he has the gamesense to work with a full team and find victory
Solo queue: Dopa just has more accolades and was historically just a better player than Faker in solo queue.

I would say that this guy is the best player in the game, no doubt. Being able to reach rank 1 challenger almost every single season, and reaching rank 1 on the chinese super server is not something one does for breakfast. But apparently this guy just did.

Great video, I actually learned some new things about Dopa. I just wished you adressed his performance on other lanes and champions more. He was truly a monster. And compared to Faker, I'd have mentioned the difference in champpool. While Dopa could play any lane to Rank 1, his champion pool still pales in comparison to Faker, who can play any champion in this game, which you've never seen him play, and outshine challenger one tricks on said champs both mechanically and macrowise. He truly is an anti Faker. Both of those players inspired me so much, while Faker is Riots golden child and Dopa is banned until the heat death of the universe. My god, they even unbanned Tyler1, who truly didn't deserve it, but Dopa stays banned, not because of toxicity, but because of monetary reasons, which is earning money with the game from boosting. It really is sad.

Dopa will not survive today's Pro scene. On top of clubs making you stream, you're gonna put hours into practicing multiple champions instead of your mains. You're also gonna go through multiple scrimmage and prepare yourself in weekend matches. That is why Faker and TheShy gets injured in today's pro scene. In 2014-2017 maybe Dopa can make it work but not today.

In terms of achievements, He is the best soloQ player of all time. In terms of skill, Chovy is the king of soloQ right now and macro wise the best soloQ player because he has all of Dopa's macro and 100x more mechanics. His lane mechanics are simply perfect.

It's understandable that the best player has the best fundamentals. Nowadays you see silvers and golds who have same mechanics if not better than those who are in diamond, but they are still hard stuck. Since season 10 onwards, like Dopa said, you can't just master the fundamentals and win games anymore, you have to be as skilled as Chovy or Showmaker as well, which is a natural progression for the game.

Yep Agurin one of the most passive junglers out there because we will gank only if he can't farm or the enemy is making a huge mistake but the thing is for a jungle macro decision are the most important thing but as a midlaner specially back then was all about the mechanics Dopa was one of the first player who have " average micro " but they macro its just something else.
