One really nice part to Lysithea’s supports is that if she gets the paired ending with Hanneman, she becomes his successor/protégé and they’re able to find a cure to remove her artificial crest and restore her lifespan.

Marianne to me feels like the pinnacle of modern FE writing and hearing her being able to say things such as "Thank you for giving me the world" (her S support) brings untold joy to my heart
The Marianne segment just the Marianne segment I have no words just a heartbeat. This is the one video I've seen looking forward to since the Golden Deer was the first route and house I picked on my first playthrough. Seeing this just brings me joy and content hearing your thoughts on the Deers and highlighting them and their strengths. Even things I didn't consider such as Leonies wisdom and Claudes early academy days. I watched through the entire video from my lunch period to the bus ride home. I consider Azure Moon to be the best route for a linear end straight forward experience. The Verdant Wind route is probably my favorite not the best but it answers most questions the game sets up in white clouds. The students feel like they have a role in the story. The final map is legendary. Why God Shattering Star. I wish you the best of times for you BlazingKnight. Thank You for entertaining us all even with the rough upload schedule. If it weren't for you I wouldn't find myself returning to Awakening and beating which would later make a FE playing other games. Also Lysithea best Girl.
At first I wasn't big on the Deer with only about half of it's members catching my interest, but after playing it through I think it's probably my fave overall, I just love these dorks

Personally I think lorenz still has a punch able face even after the time skip. But in all seriousness, with my current financial situation right now here at home, I do resonate with Marianne easily when it comes to depression. There have been many times just through this year alone I was ready to give up, there are still times I’m depressed enough to give up. But the one thing that makes me so unique compared to others is not just the people who’ve got my back at this point, but my unyielding perseverance that many people seem to notice I have. So even though I’m going through hell right now, there is no way in hell I’ll give up on what needs to be done. And that’s how I relate to Marianne and her struggles.
This was a great list that was worth the wait and the Golden Deer is my favorite group of characters in FE and one of my favorite group of characters in Fiction so I am glad that each of them was done justice here (also the Holst and Seteth sections made me laugh hard) As the Marianne section was sweet about how you felt about her, however there was a different Golden Deer that affected me on a VERY personal level and that is now my favorite character in all of Fantasy; Lysithea Von Ordelia As for why, her backstory and Unit utility you’ve already covered, her Having a “Sworn sister” relationship with Edelgard, Her sweet Supports with most characters in Houses, and in Hopes all of her Supports are fantastic especially Hubert’s, Ferdinands and Mercedes, but what makes her my favorite character ever is because of my first experience with 3H for VERY Personal reasons. 2019 was a tough year for me because of my real life struggles at home and at college with my grades dropping, and as such I was very depressed and just didn’t know if I could go on. Then I saw the first proper trailer of Three Houses thinking it was going to be a bad FE game for me because of how I was sick of school, but after seeing more trailers, I decided to give the game a chance and after starting, I knew I was picking GD first because of how cheerful Claude is, but when I first met the other students, I then met Lysthea herself and she stood out to me the most with her white hair and how adorable she looked, later in the game after she got Dark Spikes T, she nuked the Death Knight in Chapter 6 which shocked me and I got her B Support right afterwards with Byleth and how she was very happy to get genuine praise from someone rather than “you have talent” or “your crest supports you” not Byleth, he said “you’re determined and always pushing yourself” which really touched me because that’s exactly how I felt about praise from others being EARNED rather than giving credit to something else. However there was one pre time skip Support that touched me more than anything else and that was her Marianne B Support (unpopular opinion I know) because of What Lysithea said that saved me from depression; Lysithea: “I can see that you have some deep-seated turmoil you struggle with. I’ll have you know I have quite a few issues of my own. Perhaps more grave than yours, if you can imagine. But I’m not the only one who has such troubles to contend with. Everyone does. That’s why it’s so important to maintain a positive outlook and do what we can. Each time we find the light in the dark, We grow, bit by bit. And without growth, what’s the point in carrying on?” Marianne: “I envy your confidence and strength” Lysithea: “Don’t envy me. Instead, just choose to find the positive, won’t you?” Marianne: “Yes, well maybe someday…” Lysithea: “The time is now! This is your moment!” Marianne: “Oh! Ok!” Lysithea: “That’s more like it” while some people will find Marianne more relatable in this Support and I can understand why, however what Lysithea said touched me deeply and I took her words to heart and it has remained in my memory since and like Marianne, I Needed to hear them, and between this and the Byleth B Support, she’s been on my mind for the entire game and the most shocking thing in my first Playthrough was that even though I did NOT speak to the gatekeeper in December for the Goddess tower scene once, by pure chance, she showed up at the tower with me. And after the tragedy that happened the next day, the following month Lysithea said “I…I don’t want to lose you too Professor” at that point My heart knew that she was someone who I had to protect and after getting the keepsake ring as a memento from my parents, I already knew who I would pick in the end. 5 years later I saw Lysithea all grown up in the “Hunting by Daybreak” chapter and she really grew up from a cute 15 year old girl to a beautiful 21 year old lady, and seeing all my students all grown up made me teary eyed, and then I saw all of her A Supports with everyone and I was so glad that she’s matured so much 5 years after graduation. Then after the “Blood of the Eagle and Lion” Lysithea told Claude and Byleth the truth about her past, and I felt so bad that all of her siblings have died and her crests was because of a curse implanted on by Solon and his Lackeys back when she was only 8 years old, and learned that the hair color was a side effect because of it, but what terrified me the most emotionally was that, as revealed in her A Support with Byleth, she only has 5 more years left in her life span (which explains why she didn’t want to get too close to people) when Byleth said, “It’s too soon to give up, We’ll find a way” I never related to a character so hard in my life then Byleth telling Lysithea to not give up and that she WILL be saved. (especially since she told Marianne the same thing in her B Support 5 years ago) then during the final battle against Edelgard, I found out that El and Lysithea are the same (and why they are Sworn Sisters to me personally with their outstanding support in CF) and felt even more bad to defeat El in the end. Finally after the war and Nemesis was put back into his grave, it was the easiest choice for my S Support ever, and her S Support reveals that Byleth actually successfully cured Lysithea from her curse for good, however she still refuses to Claim her title and still wants her family to be living their lives as simple commoners and after she said that, Byleth with a smile on his face gives Lysithea the ring and said that he will be waiting for her and this diologue was the final catalyst for making Lysithea my favorite Fictional character; Lysithea: “For the longest time, I didn’t think I’d be part of the future that you and everyone were creating……That I had no place in it. But now, I cannot fight it any longer… I DO care. And I do not wish to give up on Chasing that Future. I Do not wish to die! I refuse to give up… On myself, or on our future. And So… I promise to come back to you. No matter what! Once I am back…” Byleth: “We will chase that future, Together” Lysithea: “Yes, I Quite like the sound of that. Together! It is decided. We will be together forever. Living long, full lives! Count on it, My Love” I am going to honest, I actually Cried after Lysithea said all of that because it was so beautiful and the S Support CG was the most beautiful picture I’ve ever seen in my life. And of course the ending card was beautiful with them living long and peaceful lives with their children. And because of how Lysithea (and Three Houses as a whole) was written, my depression was finally gone because I took Lysithea’s words to heart and it made me realize to always find the “Light In the darkness” and grow bit by bit and always find the positive even the darkest of times, and thanks to that advice, I was eventually able to get my grades at College back up and things were finally getting better at home and finally I was able to graduate from College for good and get myself a job that I enjoy a lot to this day, and all this is because I experienced both a fantastic game I originally had low expectations for and a character that impacted me on a very personal level. Thank you FE Three Houses and Thank You Lysithea Von Ordelia for being a part of my life, and thank you Intelligent Systems for making the game and finally, thank you Janice Kawaye for Voicing those lines and making me more impacted by the delivery of ms Ordelia. And that is why both FE Three Houses is my favorite game in existence as well as Lysithea Von Ordelia is my favorite character not only in FE but in all of fiction. Sorry that this ended up being so long, but I wanted to share that like everyone else, there’s a character that impacted me on a personal level and why she did.
During my blue lions playthrough, I recruited Marianne. The reason for this is because, one, her support with Dimitri. Two, her personality. And three, She committed suicide if she's not in your party. If I met Marianne and real life, I would so Want to cuddle her due to her personality.

@@hajimemochizuki3799 Tbf I believe she mentions in one of her supports (I think it might be Byleth’s) that she admits that she prays for “the goddess to take her” , granted there’s always a possibility that the phrasing of that could mean something else but it is stated in-game that the faith that Marianne follows believes that an individual will return to the goddess’s side once he/she dies. Given that she is oftentimes seen praying at the chapel in the monastery (presumably praying for the same “goddess take her” wish I mentioned earlier), how often she belittles herself, the amount of times she readily apologizes for being a burden to others, her survivor’s guilt and the struggles she faces with the crest she inherited it’s easy to assume that she struggles with suicidal thoughts since she finds it hard to cope with the guilt and has problems seeing her own self-worth in a positive light. It’s not that hard to presume that even though the game doesn’t explicitly mention that she commits suicide it’s still easy to presume that it is a legitimate reason for why she never makes any appearances during the War Phase of the storylines unless she’s in your army beforehand. Also this is just my personal speculation but if you choose Marianne for the Goddess Tower event then you’ll find her trying to make a wish with a male bird as a substitute for a human boy, my assumption was that she was hoping to make her “goddess take her” wish come true but after everything that plays out and Byleth offers to take the bird’s place she ultimately doesn’t make the wish she initially came to the tower for and instead decides to pray for whatever Byleth’s wish is. If you choose the “to see you smile” option (obviously the correct choice) she is initially taken aback by the choice but ultimately she smiles and says she is glad that she ran into Byleth before leaving. Again it’s just a speculation but for me it fits too well with her character and her struggles.

Hearing how you been through struggles in the past makes me relate to that, and listening about how there's always Hope in our hearts and how there is always people out there to support us, it makes me feel genuinely emotional, as I too have been through some dark times, and even now I have my fair share of struggles. But with Videos like these, and the help from my friends and Family, I am able to look at the positives and see the light side of the world I live in. Finally!!!! I have been waiting for more than a year for this. I really like all the golden deer cast aside from Raphael and Lorenz(pre-timeskip).I especially love Marianne,Claude and Lysithea as characters. Really happy with the list.

Finally got around to watching this video, and it gave me a bigger appreciation for the Golden Deer. While they aren't my favorite group, your video made me realize some of the things I missed with certain characters and grew to like them more such as Hilda, Lysithea and Lorenz, and appreciate the characters I already loved even more being Leonie and Marianne. Also the skits were hilarious, the Leonie one especially got a big laugh from me when Celica showed up. Great video as always.
Even just seeing the thumbnail, I just knew Marianne would be #1. I actually love Ignatz the most (just personal preference), and he and Marianne are my personal OTP for this game. They just seem like the kind of couple who like a simple, quiet life. Ignatz is also quite the romantic; I imagine he would know a variety of ways to set the mood and surprise Marianne with something new for every date (being a painter with an artist's eye would especially help in that regard).
@@BLAZINGKNIGHT50 Oh yeah, I forgot to mention something someone else pointed out. Of all the characters pre time skip, Ignatz is one of the few characters that makes Marianne smile (and on a C support, too!). I know it's not a bad thing that the other characters try to help her out of her shell (sometimes you need a good push from a comrade or friend), but Ignatz takes a more patient approach when he talks with her. He plants a seed in her mind of how she can look at things around her, but he doesn't push further than that. I know he's shy and awkward, I guess I just personally relate to him in that regard, but at his core he really is sweet, patient, approachable, and can provide you with a safe space if you need a break (which in my opinion are the perfect qualities in a partner if you deal with depression or suicidal thoughts).
Personally my favorite house. There isn’t a single character I dislike here. Claude became my favorite lord in the series and of all the characters, the Golden deer dominate my top 10. Part of that has to do with how the class is structured. Everyone (except Lorenz) has a strategic attack that makes them stand out more than any other class. Plus, they’re just quirky and fun. Half of them don’t have a dark past that’s following them. It even gets to a point where I think they shine on other paths as well. I can see a good reason for most of them to join Edelgard or not. Three Hopes capitalized on their quirks and toned down the more annoying ones to better explore the positive. All-in-all my favorite of the routes simply because of character and gameplay.

What are you talking about? Claude determines who wins and who loses in Three Hopes. In AG, Claude is the one that makes up the final campaign strategy and in SB, Claude provides the resources and necessary for Edelgard to basically win and if he betrays her, Edelgard can’t win anymore. And in GW, he has to rescue Edelgard from certain defeat and takes out Rhea by himself.
@@rieganel7781Three Hopes shows Claude’s flaws that were kinda unnoticeable for me in Three Houses. He felt too perfect there. Three Hopes for me showed his weaknesses and how things don’t always go right which is more realistic in war.
@@rieganel7781 You do have a point, but I still can't shake off the feeling that he doesn't matter as much as the other lords, and the ways you said he's integrated doesn't do him any favors in my eyes. I think this is how I can explain it Rhea - Is responsible for Fodlan being what it is which leads to war Edelgard - Starts the war Dimitri - Most against Edelgard's reforms Claude - Determinates who wins His important part only happens during the war, which makes him stick out like a sore thumb compared to the other main characters. Also, I think his plans in other routes (except the non-Byleth one in SB) makes him look smarter in them than what he is in his own route.

He's meant to stick out because he's an outsider so you're getting the perspective from someone who doesn't have a history here because he comes from a different country. @@rieganel7781 I get it, I shouldn't debate this because I don't like Hopes and found out recently I never liked Houses as well, but I'm gonna do so anyway. So they shouldn't give me an apple that wasn't clean when they could've given me an apple that was clean, because just because I understand it, doesn't mean I have to like it. I get that Three Houses' story relies more on its concepts rather than writing to be good, but this was one of the moments where it didn't work so well. I've heard argument after argument against what I've said about Hopes Claude, but they just make my problems with him more apparent. He's still too morally white.

47:44 YES!! 100X YES!!! Marianne was the reason I chose the Golden Deers first and she has been my best girl since. Of course, the competition was fierce with Dorothea, Constance, and Ingrid in the cast but Marianne had my heart from the moment I laid eyes on her. Even as a unit she was awesome as a healer and just as good when given the dancer class. Out of all the girls for the goddess tower event, Marianne's is the best solely because of how hers went. The smile she gave when Byleth wished for it was so genuine and sweet. Her being the one to propose and give a ring to Byleth just shows how courageous she became. Marianne is BEST GIRL.
I think you exaggerated a little. Marianne being shy and sad and then becoming more confident and smiling is touchibg and all, but honestly, kinda bland. Her character is too one note and they put way too much accent on her sadness it just feels cartoonish and unrealistic. I get that some people are weak as her so that's why they relate to her, but she is near the bottom character wise.
Marianne is so beautiful and that smile on her face during the S support is so genuine and from the heart, which is why she looks so beautiful and happy.

40:35-I wonder if Cordelia and Sumia would join Leone and Princess Celica’s club of characters who are hated when people first meet them. I mean these two knights from Awakening get a lot of flack for their obsession with Prince Chrom without getting to know about them in their support conversations. Hell, both Cordelia and Sumia’s support conversation with Robin doesn’t involve Chrom that much as it focuses on their characters.
I'm not sure where you're getting that information from but while Sumia is somewhat overlooked neither peg knights get a lot of flack, heck Cordelia is one of the most loved and popular FE characters of all time. Sure their might be one of two people who go off about their love for chrom but those are a very minor exception rather than the rule.

@@BLAZINGKNIGHT50 well there are some fans who put Cordelia at the bottom of their waifu tier lists because of her Chrom obsession and they often compare her to Faye, a character who is worse than Tharja, Camilla and Leone with their unhealthy obsessions with a certain character. Sumia gets a lot of flack from a lot of fan girls for standing in the way of their precious Chrom x Robin. Sure Chrom and Sumia’s support conversation was bad with the whole pie thing, but Chrom and Robin isn’t much better is it starts out as sexual harassment. I mean they do the whole looking at each other nude with bathing trope you’ve seen a million times in anime. Trust me, there are a lot of fanfics where Sumia is written as the bad guy and Robin is the Mary Sue. I guess some people don’t have the time and patience to fully read a character’s support and just assume that their quirks are their defining characteristics.
Marianne is genuinely not only my favorite character in three houses. She is genuinely my favorite character in all of fiction. Her story genuinely resonates with me to such a great level (especially due to when I picked the game up. It also helps how fun she is to play around with (ive made her a dark flier, swordmaster, falco knight, gremory, and dancer). I love Marianne so much that i literally played as male byleth JUST for the S support.
The Deer was my first and still fav, Lorenz is definitely the least interesting take on "stereotypical" noble but has his moments especially post time skip, Leonie is a beast on the field, Raph is the best big brother in the world, Ignatz is there, Lysithea is a butcher with a really interesting backstory, Hilda is just funny, Marianne is perfect, and Claude is probably my favorite character in the game.
While I've never had any thought of suicide myself because I think it's the most cowardly way to go out due to leaving so many who love you behind since it's bad enough when someone dies from old age like my grandpa this December, I miss the man so having Marianne wanting to go early was just something I couldn't let happen, whenever I do a playthrough of Three Houses I always recruit her. Mercedes is my favorite girl for Blue Lions and Petra is the same for Black Eagles, between Mercedes's sweet old sister vibes I get from her, and Petra's lack of literate knowledges are just fun. I will always go for Blue Lions first.
One of the biggest reasons why the Deer is my favorite house is because I feel that they have the most character growth overall compared to the other houses (not that the other houses don’t have it too, but the Golden Deer is the most noticeable of them all)
On the topic of Claude, I really think he’s characterized *much* better in Three Hopes, seeing as he’s actually allowed to follow through on the schemes he always talks about, rather than copying Seteth’s actions from Silver Snow. He ends up not really doing much different from Seteth in Houses, other than dialogue being more goofy and Claude-like, but the end result is the same as when Seteth does it in SS. Only really the final boss being different, which, I’ll admit, was pretty awesome for Claude’s character, especially with that little speech during the cutscene. Although I think it would’ve been more fitting to swap the final bosses of SS and VW, so we could have Seteth and Rhea fight Nemesis again, but alas. Anyway, I’m looking forward to what you think about Claude when you do the Hopes video :) I think they made him way more interesting there, making him more morally-grey like everyone else, rather than just goofy scheme man
I agree with Hopes Claude Being really interesting since we get to actually see his underhanded side and it makes sense that he would do these things without Byleth’s guidance which is a really good contrast to his Houses side where he clearly still doesn’t like Rhea and wants her gone but Byleth reminds him that they need the truth from her and he actually trusts his friends much more rather than being a loner (like in “the Golden Scheme” chapter he actually takes advice from Hilda and uses her plan which shows how much he’s grown) However I have to disagree about Claude being SS Seteth in terms of story, because looking at the little details, the Golden Scheme Chapter only makes sense with Claude and not Seteth, Seteth never does the Gronder chapter, and in VW it’s actually explained very well about the Javelins of light where in SS it’s never brought up again, and the ending of both routes is completely different besides just the finale, while in SS Rhea somehow goes haywire after getting fatally injured and the ending is when all three nations cease to be and Byleth is just a wonderer, VW on the other hand, Thales, with the last of his power, brings Nemesis back to life, and Rhea while dying tells Claude and Byleth the truth about the past and after Nemesis is defeated, Thales, Rhea, and Nemesis are all now dead (since unlike Silver Snow, Rhea dies in VW no matter what) making the past buried and allowing Claude and Byleth to look towards the future and most importantly unlike every other route in the game, Claude’s dream of ending Racism for good becomes a reality and Byleth becomes the new ruler of Fodlan which is very different from Silver Snow’s Ending
I'm still astonished at how much Lorenz grew on me. Personally, I think he has one of, if not the best character development out of any FE character. Plus he's funny to meme. Me and my friends always refer to him as The Squidward/Squilliam of fire emblem xD.
I mean, in defense of Raphael, the thing about him that works both for and against him depending on the scenario, is that he is someone who already had his character development. It just… all happened to have happened before the events of the game. Hot take: to me, Marianne was Bernadetta done right. Which path is correct? Might be bias here, but any path other than Black Eagles. Blue Lions and Golden Deer simultaneously stop Edelgard from taking over Folden and remove Rhea from power.
2:13 #8 great with fists and axes but not much else. 8:42 #7 talented in almost all aspects and has incredible accuracy but can't hit hard enough. 14:18 #6 proof that people can change for the better when the chance presents itself. 20:38 #5 don't let the spoiled princess persona fool you. She's the absolute best female axe user EVER. 28:21 #4 the Death Knight runs FROM her dark spikes. An absolute magical nuke. She's got no time to waste but warms up considerably once she DOES has time. 34:52 #3 Paladin, Bow Knight, or Falcon Knight, she does her mentor proud. Doesn't hurt that she's fun to be around too. Also her ending with Felix is canon for me because he actually respects her and you can't un-read Mr. Edgelord going dancer due to their pairing. 40:42 #2 his title of master tactican is well earned. Such an orthodox lord is what makes him so great. 47:49 #1 she is simply just the BEST GIRL. You can't help but want to hug her and never let go.
At long last the conclusion of this quintology has arrived. Favorites from three houses as a whole? BE:Petra, BL:Ingrid, GD: a tie between Marianne & Lysithea, CoS:Shamir, AW:Constance.
Am I the only one who found Claude better on 3hopes? Personally I felt Verdant Wind does him no favors as he is shoved into generic hero role with very little to stand him out not helped by Verdant wind being SS with the serial numbers changed. Three hopes mad him the dangerous wild card Three Houses tried to convince us he was and in my opinion fell short off except when he was against us. I know it wasn’t what everyone wanted but I feel giving Claude some texture was badly needed, though I can understand if some people felt it went to far. Actually is it weird that Golden Wildfire jumped up to being one of my favorite outcomes for Fodlan just because all three lords and all of the students are still alive at the end? We also have a balance of powers and a more mellow Edelgard who will probably have to accept the peace deal Claude is likely going to put forwards and will instead focus her full attention on the Agarthans and her reforms.
I love both versions of Claude and I won't begrudge anyone who personally didn't like Hopes Claude, but people have such rancid takes about him based on...well, nothing. Hopes just amplified what was already there and what he could have been if he'd never met Byleth.
You're not the only one who likes Hopes Claude better. I think UA-camr Mamodxx likes Hopes Claude more, and some people in BlazingKnight's Twitch chat also. I also like Hopes Claude better due to him being more complex and vulnerable this time around. And yeah, I agree he comes off more as a Wild Card, primarily in Scarlet Blaze and Golden Wildfire. And interestingly enough, like in Three Houses for me, the Golden Deer outcome in Three Hopes is one of the top two outcomes for Fodlan alongside the Byleth-recruited Black Eagles outcome in that game. With Rhea out of the picture, reforms can come to all nations way more easily. I even feel fine with the Kingdom standing since reforms can come presumably at a gradual pace since Rhea can't intervene.
@@sjk8495 Same, tbh. I LOVE the Blue Lions and their routes, but Faerghus is so shackled to the Church of Seiros it would be hard to make the sweeping changes it needs. Even in AM where Rhea steps down, Dimitri knows too well how Faerghus reacts to reforms. :(
@@Lynn17 I know on my side, my main issue with the BL Houses ending is that TWSITD is still out there, whereas in other routes the group is mostly wiped out (or eliminated completely in Crimson Flower). The Golden Wildfire ending doesn't bother me as much since presumably the Federation and Empire can hunt the group down. Also, for the BL Houses ending, while the game makes it clear reforms do come, I prefer if the Crest system is burned to the ground. And the GD Houses ending in my eyes can potentially allow the system to be removed since the truth about Crests and Relics was revealed, thus delegitimizing the system. And as for the BL Hopes ending, well I can simply point to what happened to Edelgard and the Empire, plus Rhea's survival and possibility of not changing, as possible evidence of why the BL Hopes ending isn't ideal for Fodlan.
@@sjk8495 I too like Hopes Claude because it shows what kind of person he is without Byleth’s guidance and we actually SEE his underhanded and scheming side rather than being told about it and his decision to get rid of Rhea actually falls in line with his character in Houses, since he mentioned subtlety that He would like a world without Rhea but Byleth kept reminding him that they needed the truth from her, furthermore after Claude is reunited with Rhea, he’s clearly not happy to see her but still needs the truth regardless. Also interesting to note how in both Fodlan games in both Claude and El routes, Rhea dies no matter what, and in Dimitri routes, Rhea lives. So I am very glad that Hopes Claude exists because it shows us what type of person Claude would be WITHOUT Byleth’s guidance (Much like how Edelgard and Dimitri have shown how they are without Byleth’s guidance in Houses)

Hello there. I appreciate your suggestion however I stopped playing heroes around 6 months ago and even before I stopped I never payed attention to the weapon refines but it was an aspect of the game I didn't care for. Therefore I must apologize but a video concerning the strongest weapon refines in heroes is something I have no desire to make.

39:52 Not only the C Support, but also the B Support, which comes off as basically the same as the C Support, but so much worse timed (if you catch my drift). Sorry, but despite of the many great Supports that she has with others, the Byleth Support is the one that prevents me from truly liking her (I wish that was not the case though), especially since that Support Chain depicts her as a petty and jealous jerk. At least there is an understandable context to Ingrid's animosity towards Dedue, since her fiancé was a victim in the Tragedy of Duscur, and obviously the Duscurians were publicly blamed for that. On the contrary, Leonie berates on Byleth *TWICE* merely because Byleth doesn't act like the president of "Captain Jeralt's fanclub".
Sadly I agree, I want to like Leonie because she’s a fellow Deer and she does have some good Supports, but as someone who self inserts as Byleth more than most Avatars, Her B Support timing couldn’t be at a worse time in the game and sadly she still snapped at Byleth in their Paralogue in Hopes and even criticized Jeralt when he tried to correct her (Her unjustified anger at Byleth is as bad as Hana’s to Corrin in Fates) and her Support with Byleth is my Least favorite Support in all of Houses (I still think Leonie is a good character overall, it’s just impossible to ignore how atrocious Her Byleth Support is)

Nice video. I love it so much but i have one minor gripe and that is Lysithea. Is she not a member of the Golden Deer as well? I understand that this is a Top 8 characters video but still. Marianne being numher 1 makes up for that though.
For unit utility, I'm surprised you didn't mention the Sacred Weapons. The Axe of Ukonvasara for Lorenz and Claude's Sword of Begalta. Sure, they have no exclusive combat arts but the chosen users always bothered me. I felt the sword and axe should have been reversed since a sword wielding Lorenz would have made for an excellent Mortal Savant and Claude using an axe while still riding a wyvern is a no brainer. Just don't give the axe to Lysithea unless you're playing Three Hopes. And the Tathlum Bow is not an ideal weapon for Mercedes but her brother slaughters everything in his path with it.
They did admittedly skip my mind and that was a blunder on my end, though in most case the sacred weapons for claude and lorenz don't usually end up being used.

Rankings aside, I personally found the blue lions to be the cream of the crop when it comes to three houses and for one reason: There tone and how they set it for each section of the game. Let me explain: The blue lions felt to me more like they were balancing the happy-go lucky feel of games like birthright where they make it CLEAR your the good guys that must strike down the evil empire of Norh, and the dark serious, and very political tone of older games like the Telious saga. They strike this balance by having the pre-time skip section start off very light for the group, but over time it grows darker and darker, until eventually....The boar comes charging fourth, lance ready to kill. however!!!...don't take this as me hating on the golden deer. Well Raphael and Ignatz may not have the best convos with other people, together they have a lot to bear, as it was, though unintentional, Ignatz's parents who gave a job to Raphael's parents that was assigned to them but the latter were unfortunate enough to get ambushed and perished. Ignatz felt guilty about it but Raph bears no grudge and tells him not to carry that on his shoulders. With his bulk Raph might scare children but he has a heart the same color as his house. Shame you never covered Three hopes because Lorenz looked like James from Team Rocket, rose and all. Plus Mr. Diskin pulled double duty, and 3Hopes we get to meet his dad. Same goes for Hilda as we are humbled by her big bro, though he can be overbearing. Like if Hilda let out a small sneeze Holst would barge in, wrap her up in more blankets than a mummy with bandages, put a block of ice as big as a dictionary on her head and run off getting her off the battlefield. Though Hilda was uncomfortable with Seteth, who basically saw through her act, was rather surprised when she gave her input on a children's story he was working on as implying death in a story for children is a no-no. And I bet Hilda would go full Rath if anyone got mud on her face. like... Hilda after her hair got messed up by a thunder spell: Okay Thales, leader of the Agarthans. I beat up everyone one of your guys. We can fight or you can surrender. I find it very surprising Lysithea was voiced by Gui from Captain Planet, though her magic is never anything to scoff at. But at least we saw what color Edelgard's hair was before she was experimented on. Here, nothing. was it red? crimson? teal? obsidian? What was your old hair color girl? WHAT WAS YOUR OLD HAIR COLOR?! Leonie is the standard jack of all trades, though she could be a master of all, and I prefer her Three Hopes look though it was nice to have her and Jeralt on the same team. I imagine Leonie doing to Kronya's corpse what Seiros did to Nemesis. Claude is awesome. Enough said. And finally, Marianne, just wow. It was only yesterday Xanthe Hyunh was a princess who was only interested in alchemy... They grow up so fast. Where was she when we lost Etika? We need more Marianne's in the world. In fact, she actually did face her demons and won in her paralogue. The premise: A scholar confronts Marianne about her history, we tell him to leave and she opens up about her crest, The Crest of Maurice later known as the Crest of the Beast. We help her get some closure on this as Marianne confronts the corrupted form of Maurice and after helping her defeat him, he bestows upon us his Heroes Relic. When the scholar returns we confront him again and present him with Blutgang, and he is shocked to see the real Blutgang, the relic of Maurice as legends claim that Maurice never let go of the sword, even after his death. After which he leaves willingly and thanks to us, Marianne's view of the world suddenly becomes brighter. This was well worth the wait, and now they need a football team: Fear the Deer!
I agree with all this Especially the fact that even in Hopes we STILL DON’T KNOW WHAT LYSITHEA’S HAIR COLOR WAS (only hint in Hopes we got was in one of her tea lines mentioned that “My hair color used to be darker than it is now”)
Before watching video: Welp, time to rank the Golden Deer. I'm sure Lysithea's probably number one just like every other list I've seen. *Sees Lysithea at #4* After watching video: So your placings make a lot of sense. Especially Marianne. She and Leonie are my two personal favorites of the Golden Deer. None of the guys really peak my interest. Raphael is too one-note, Lorenz is a pompous whelp, Ignatz is alright I guess, and Claude really just doesn't suit me. Hilda is essentially just there to be Caspar's girlfriend and that's it (I'm glad someone appreciates it as much as me even tho Caspar's a dense buffoon). Finally, Lysithea. Boy, do I not like Lysithea for all the reasons you mentioned. And how I wish she wasn't a good enough combat unit to the point where everyone would stop using her. Unfortunately that'll never happen. That, however, doesn't really dissuade me from the fact she's a walking powder keg. Her character is often, though it makes sense psychologically, very abrasive, more often than Felix or Hubert, and that's saying something. Can't stand the fact she can't take the whole age thing without it being misinterpreted as, "Oh I guess I'm too stupid to figure this out because I'm too young." I can understand why people like her for her combat. The fact that she's practically most people's number 1 non-lord pick (and sometimes even the lord of their route can't stop them) for character reasons is something I'll never understand, period. Luckily 3 Hopes rectifies this with Shez calling out Lysithea for how dumb her logic is.
Honestly lysithea should be above marianne and Leonie. Being rude doesn't mean bad characters, even if hmshe was flawed and rude and naive before time skip. She was tortured, desperate to be treated as an adult because of her short life spam, and overall didn't mean to act rude but she never knew how to communicate. It's part of her flaws and trauma, which are more dimensional than marianne. Especially lysithea's development în The tine skip which wasn't as forced as marianne's
I guess you can't get over her rudeness, but she îs a great character even if you can't see it. She îs better than marianne, I guess marianne gets excused for not acting rude, even if she îs kinda bland
Sorry but I have to heavily disagree on the Lysithea bit because she has some fantastic character growth and While I can understand why she’s not for everyone (the same way Lorenz, Leonie, Hubert and Felix aren’t for everyone) I still Personally found her character growth to be some of the best in the game especially considering that after 5 years she really matured and her A Supports shows how much she’s grown and is no longer as quick tempered as before (if you want my full reasoning why Lysithea is my absolute favorite character in all of FE, my earlier comment explains it best)
@@JackstonCry That really depends on what you think is more rude. Felix is someone who picks apart people's belief and harshly criticizes most people who don't have the same opinion as him on the moral level. Lysithea is someone who retorts back at someone who makes any sort of remark, statement, or comment regarding her youth, age, or otherwise, even if whatever they're doing has nothing insulting attached to it. I still think Felix is less aggravating since his retorts stem from his father treating his brother as if his death was inevitable and he died for the sake of a higher cause. His comments to Dimitri, Dedue and Ingrid (yes even his sexist comments to Ingrid) all suggest that he wants his allies to survive and be focused on what's in front of them. As far as I could tell, Lysithea's supports do little to actually explain her situation and in the case of characters like Marianne and Ignatz, mainly just paint her as a bully since she not only refuses help, she outright goes out of her way to ensure that the person feels bad for offering aid in the first place. That's way worse than Felix imo. And no, the whole "I had trauma when I was younger" doesn't cut it for me. This behavior is unacceptable for someone with said trauma. Even before 3H you had Katarina in FE12 who was sold as a slave in Knorda Market, then trained to be an assassin by someone who lost their soul to Gharnef and then proceeded to lose their only friend in said assassin group to Marth's Army. And when she was recruited, she never berated anyone like that. Some people react differently with different experiences of trauma, but Lysithea's is by far the worst. Easily the worst character in the Golden Deer for me, and quite frankly one of the worst in all FE.
One really nice part to Lysithea’s supports is that if she gets the paired ending with Hanneman, she becomes his successor/protégé and they’re able to find a cure to remove her artificial crest and restore her lifespan.
I am glad that certain character endings do allow her to have her crest removed and live a full life.

The Marianne segment just the Marianne segment I have no words just a heartbeat.
This is the one video I've seen looking forward to since the Golden Deer was the first route and house I picked on my first playthrough. Seeing this just brings me joy and content hearing your thoughts on the Deers and highlighting them and their strengths. Even things I didn't consider such as Leonies wisdom and Claudes early academy days.
I watched through the entire video from my lunch period to the bus ride home.
I consider Azure Moon to be the best route for a linear end straight forward experience. The Verdant Wind route is probably my favorite not the best but it answers most questions the game sets up in white clouds. The students feel like they have a role in the story. The final map is legendary. Why God Shattering Star.
I wish you the best of times for you BlazingKnight. Thank You for entertaining us all even with the rough upload schedule. If it weren't for you I wouldn't find myself returning to Awakening and beating which would later make a FE playing other games.

Personally I think lorenz still has a punch able face even after the time skip. But in all seriousness, with my current financial situation right now here at home, I do resonate with Marianne easily when it comes to depression. There have been many times just through this year alone I was ready to give up, there are still times I’m depressed enough to give up. But the one thing that makes me so unique compared to others is not just the people who’ve got my back at this point, but my unyielding perseverance that many people seem to notice I have. So even though I’m going through hell right now, there is no way in hell I’ll give up on what needs to be done. And that’s how I relate to Marianne and her struggles.
This was a great list that was worth the wait and the Golden Deer is my favorite group of characters in FE and one of my favorite group of characters in Fiction so I am glad that each of them was done justice here (also the Holst and Seteth sections made me laugh hard)
As the Marianne section was sweet about how you felt about her, however there was a different Golden Deer that affected me on a VERY personal level and that is now my favorite character in all of Fantasy; Lysithea Von Ordelia
As for why, her backstory and Unit utility you’ve already covered, her Having a “Sworn sister” relationship with Edelgard, Her sweet Supports with most characters in Houses, and in Hopes all of her Supports are fantastic especially Hubert’s, Ferdinands and Mercedes, but what makes her my favorite character ever is because of my first experience with 3H for VERY Personal reasons. 2019 was a tough year for me because of my real life struggles at home and at college with my grades dropping, and as such I was very depressed and just didn’t know if I could go on. Then I saw the first proper trailer of Three Houses thinking it was going to be a bad FE game for me because of how I was sick of school, but after seeing more trailers, I decided to give the game a chance and after starting, I knew I was picking GD first because of how cheerful Claude is, but when I first met the other students, I then met Lysthea herself and she stood out to me the most with her white hair and how adorable she looked, later in the game after she got Dark Spikes T, she nuked the Death Knight in Chapter 6 which shocked me and I got her B Support right afterwards with Byleth and how she was very happy to get genuine praise from someone rather than “you have talent” or “your crest supports you” not Byleth, he said “you’re determined and always pushing yourself” which really touched me because that’s exactly how I felt about praise from others being EARNED rather than giving credit to something else. However there was one pre time skip Support that touched me more than anything else and that was her Marianne B Support (unpopular opinion I know) because of What Lysithea said that saved me from depression; Lysithea: “I can see that you have some deep-seated turmoil you struggle with. I’ll have you know I have quite a few issues of my own. Perhaps more grave than yours, if you can imagine. But I’m not the only one who has such troubles to contend with. Everyone does. That’s why it’s so important to maintain a positive outlook and do what we can. Each time we find the light in the dark, We grow, bit by bit. And without growth, what’s the point in carrying on?” Marianne: “I envy your confidence and strength” Lysithea: “Don’t envy me. Instead, just choose to find the positive, won’t you?” Marianne: “Yes, well maybe someday…” Lysithea: “The time is now! This is your moment!” Marianne: “Oh! Ok!” Lysithea: “That’s more like it” while some people will find Marianne more relatable in this Support and I can understand why, however what Lysithea said touched me deeply and I took her words to heart and it has remained in my memory since and like Marianne, I Needed to hear them, and between this and the Byleth B Support, she’s been on my mind for the entire game and the most shocking thing in my first Playthrough was that even though I did NOT speak to the gatekeeper in December for the Goddess tower scene once, by pure chance, she showed up at the tower with me. And after the tragedy that happened the next day, the following month Lysithea said “I…I don’t want to lose you too Professor” at that point My heart knew that she was someone who I had to protect and after getting the keepsake ring as a memento from my parents, I already knew who I would pick in the end. 5 years later I saw Lysithea all grown up in the “Hunting by Daybreak” chapter and she really grew up from a cute 15 year old girl to a beautiful 21 year old lady, and seeing all my students all grown up made me teary eyed, and then I saw all of her A Supports with everyone and I was so glad that she’s matured so much 5 years after graduation. Then after the “Blood of the Eagle and Lion” Lysithea told Claude and Byleth the truth about her past, and I felt so bad that all of her siblings have died and her crests was because of a curse implanted on by Solon and his Lackeys back when she was only 8 years old, and learned that the hair color was a side effect because of it, but what terrified me the most emotionally was that, as revealed in her A Support with Byleth, she only has 5 more years left in her life span (which explains why she didn’t want to get too close to people) when Byleth said, “It’s too soon to give up, We’ll find a way” I never related to a character so hard in my life then Byleth telling Lysithea to not give up and that she WILL be saved. (especially since she told Marianne the same thing in her B Support 5 years ago) then during the final battle against Edelgard, I found out that El and Lysithea are the same (and why they are Sworn Sisters to me personally with their outstanding support in CF) and felt even more bad to defeat El in the end. Finally after the war and Nemesis was put back into his grave, it was the easiest choice for my S Support ever, and her S Support reveals that Byleth actually successfully cured Lysithea from her curse for good, however she still refuses to Claim her title and still wants her family to be living their lives as simple commoners and after she said that, Byleth with a smile on his face gives Lysithea the ring and said that he will be waiting for her and this diologue was the final catalyst for making Lysithea my favorite Fictional character; Lysithea: “For the longest time, I didn’t think I’d be part of the future that you and everyone were creating……That I had no place in it. But now, I cannot fight it any longer… I DO care. And I do not wish to give up on Chasing that Future. I Do not wish to die! I refuse to give up… On myself, or on our future. And So… I promise to come back to you. No matter what! Once I am back…” Byleth: “We will chase that future, Together” Lysithea: “Yes, I Quite like the sound of that. Together! It is decided. We will be together forever. Living long, full lives! Count on it, My Love” I am going to honest, I actually Cried after Lysithea said all of that because it was so beautiful and the S Support CG was the most beautiful picture I’ve ever seen in my life. And of course the ending card was beautiful with them living long and peaceful lives with their children. And because of how Lysithea (and Three Houses as a whole) was written, my depression was finally gone because I took Lysithea’s words to heart and it made me realize to always find the “Light In the darkness” and grow bit by bit and always find the positive even the darkest of times, and thanks to that advice, I was eventually able to get my grades at College back up and things were finally getting better at home and finally I was able to graduate from College for good and get myself a job that I enjoy a lot to this day, and all this is because I experienced both a fantastic game I originally had low expectations for and a character that impacted me on a very personal level. Thank you FE Three Houses and Thank You Lysithea Von Ordelia for being a part of my life, and thank you Intelligent Systems for making the game and finally, thank you Janice Kawaye for Voicing those lines and making me more impacted by the delivery of ms Ordelia. And that is why both FE Three Houses is my favorite game in existence as well as Lysithea Von Ordelia is my favorite character not only in FE but in all of fiction.
Sorry that this ended up being so long, but I wanted to share that like everyone else, there’s a character that impacted me on a personal level and why she did.
During my blue lions playthrough, I recruited Marianne. The reason for this is because, one, her support with Dimitri. Two, her personality. And three, She committed suicide if she's not in your party. If I met Marianne and real life, I would so Want to cuddle her due to her personality.
Everyone keep saying that but, I don't think her killing herself is ever mentioned.

@@hajimemochizuki3799 Tbf I believe she mentions in one of her supports (I think it might be Byleth’s) that she admits that she prays for “the goddess to take her” , granted there’s always a possibility that the phrasing of that could mean something else but it is stated in-game that the faith that Marianne follows believes that an individual will return to the goddess’s side once he/she dies. Given that she is oftentimes seen praying at the chapel in the monastery (presumably praying for the same “goddess take her” wish I mentioned earlier), how often she belittles herself, the amount of times she readily apologizes for being a burden to others, her survivor’s guilt and the struggles she faces with the crest she inherited it’s easy to assume that she struggles with suicidal thoughts since she finds it hard to cope with the guilt and has problems seeing her own self-worth in a positive light. It’s not that hard to presume that even though the game doesn’t explicitly mention that she commits suicide it’s still easy to presume that it is a legitimate reason for why she never makes any appearances during the War Phase of the storylines unless she’s in your army beforehand.
Also this is just my personal speculation but if you choose Marianne for the Goddess Tower event then you’ll find her trying to make a wish with a male bird as a substitute for a human boy, my assumption was that she was hoping to make her “goddess take her” wish come true but after everything that plays out and Byleth offers to take the bird’s place she ultimately doesn’t make the wish she initially came to the tower for and instead decides to pray for whatever Byleth’s wish is. If you choose the “to see you smile” option (obviously the correct choice) she is initially taken aback by the choice but ultimately she smiles and says she is glad that she ran into Byleth before leaving. Again it’s just a speculation but for me it fits too well with her character and her struggles.

Hearing how you been through struggles in the past makes me relate to that, and listening about how there's always Hope in our hearts and how there is always people out there to support us, it makes me feel genuinely emotional, as I too have been through some dark times, and even now I have my fair share of struggles. Finally got around to watching this video, and it gave me a bigger appreciation for the Golden Deer. While they aren't my favorite group, your video made me realize some of the things I missed with certain characters and grew to like them more such as Hilda, Lysithea and Lorenz, and appreciate the characters I already loved even more being Leonie and Marianne. Also the skits were hilarious, the Leonie one especially got a big laugh from me when Celica showed up. Great video as always.

Even just seeing the thumbnail, I just knew Marianne would be #1. I actually love Ignatz the most (just personal preference), and he and Marianne are my personal OTP for this game. They just seem like the kind of couple who like a simple, quiet life. Ignatz is also quite the romantic; I imagine he would know a variety of ways to set the mood and surprise Marianne with something new for every date (being a painter with an artist's eye would especially help in that regard).
I can defo see that, he would express his love to her in very unconventional ways but that sounds perfect for Marianne.
@@BLAZINGKNIGHT50 Oh yeah, I forgot to mention something someone else pointed out. Of all the characters pre time skip, Ignatz is one of the few characters that makes Marianne smile (and on a C support, too!). I know it's not a bad thing that the other characters try to help her out of her shell (sometimes you need a good push from a comrade or friend), but Ignatz takes a more patient approach when he talks with her. He plants a seed in her mind of how she can look at things around her, but he doesn't push further than that. I know he's shy and awkward, I guess I just personally relate to him in that regard, but at his core he really is sweet, patient, approachable, and can provide you with a safe space if you need a break (which in my opinion are the perfect qualities in a partner if you deal with depression or suicidal thoughts).
The Golden Deer was my 1st & favorite house! Glad I get to see the final part of this before i hit my 20s.

Personally my favorite house. There isn’t a single character I dislike here. Claude became my favorite lord in the series and of all the characters, the Golden deer dominate my top 10.
Part of that has to do with how the class is structured. Everyone (except Lorenz) has a strategic attack that makes them stand out more than any other class. Plus, they’re just quirky and fun. Half of them don’t have a dark past that’s following them.
It even gets to a point where I think they shine on other paths as well. I can see a good reason for most of them to join Edelgard or not. Three Hopes capitalized on their quirks and toned down the more annoying ones to better explore the positive.
All-in-all my favorite of the routes simply because of character and gameplay.
A big reason why I call him Douchebag Almondhead Gloucester.

It's funny, and also kind of sad, that Three Hopes' attempt to expand on Claude only showed how irrelevant he was, and made him come across as worse.
What are you talking about? Claude determines who wins and who loses in Three Hopes. In AG, Claude is the one that makes up the final campaign strategy and in SB, Claude provides the resources and necessary for Edelgard to basically win and if he betrays her, Edelgard can’t win anymore. And in GW, he has to rescue Edelgard from certain defeat and takes out Rhea by himself.
@@rieganel7781Three Hopes shows Claude’s flaws that were kinda unnoticeable for me in Three Houses. He felt too perfect there. Three Hopes for me showed his weaknesses and how things don’t always go right which is more realistic in war.
@@rieganel7781 You do have a point, but I still can't shake off the feeling that he doesn't matter as much as the other lords, and the ways you said he's integrated doesn't do him any favors in my eyes.
I think this is how I can explain it
Rhea - Is responsible for Fodlan being what it is which leads to war
Edelgard - Starts the war
Dimitri - Most against Edelgard's reforms
Claude - Determinates who wins
His important part only happens during the war, which makes him stick out like a sore thumb compared to the other main characters.
Also, I think his plans in other routes (except the non-Byleth one in SB) makes him look smarter in them than what he is in his own route.

I get that Three Houses' story relies more on its concepts rather than writing to be good, but this was one of the moments where it didn't work so well. I've heard argument after argument against what I've said about Hopes Claude, but they just make my problems with him more apparent. He's still too morally white.

47:44 YES!! 100X YES!!! Marianne was the reason I chose the Golden Deers first and she has been my best girl since. Of course, the competition was fierce with Dorothea, Constance, and Ingrid in the cast but Marianne had my heart from the moment I laid eyes on her. Even as a unit she was awesome as a healer and just as good when given the dancer class. Out of all the girls for the goddess tower event, Marianne's is the best solely because of how hers went. The smile she gave when Byleth wished for it was so genuine and sweet. Her being the one to propose and give a ring to Byleth just shows how courageous she became. Marianne is BEST GIRL.
I think you exaggerated a little. Marianne being shy and sad and then becoming more confident and smiling is touchibg and all, but honestly, kinda bland. Her character is too one note and they put way too much accent on her sadness it just feels cartoonish and unrealistic. I get that some people are weak as her so that's why they relate to her, but she is near the bottom character wise.
Marianne is so beautiful and that smile on her face during the S support is so genuine and from the heart, which is why she looks so beautiful and happy.

40:35-I wonder if Cordelia and Sumia would join Leone and Princess Celica’s club of characters who are hated when people first meet them.
I mean these two knights from Awakening get a lot of flack for their obsession with Prince Chrom without getting to know about them in their support conversations. Hell, both Cordelia and Sumia’s support conversation with Robin doesn’t involve Chrom that much as it focuses on their characters.
I'm not sure where you're getting that information from but while Sumia is somewhat overlooked neither peg knights get a lot of flack, heck Cordelia is one of the most loved and popular FE characters of all time. Sure their might be one of two people who go off about their love for chrom but those are a very minor exception rather than the rule.

@@BLAZINGKNIGHT50 well there are some fans who put Cordelia at the bottom of their waifu tier lists because of her Chrom obsession and they often compare her to Faye, a character who is worse than Tharja, Camilla and Leone with their unhealthy obsessions with a certain character.
Sumia gets a lot of flack from a lot of fan girls for standing in the way of their precious Chrom x Robin. Sure Chrom and Sumia’s support conversation was bad with the whole pie thing, but Chrom and Robin isn’t much better is it starts out as sexual harassment. I mean they do the whole looking at each other nude with bathing trope you’ve seen a million times in anime. Trust me, there are a lot of fanfics where Sumia is written as the bad guy and Robin is the Mary Sue.
I guess some people don’t have the time and patience to fully read a character’s support and just assume that their quirks are their defining characteristics.

Marianne is genuinely not only my favorite character in three houses. She is genuinely my favorite character in all of fiction. Her story genuinely resonates with me to such a great level (especially due to when I picked the game up. It also helps how fun she is to play around with (ive made her a dark flier, swordmaster, falco knight, gremory, and dancer). I love Marianne so much that i literally played as male byleth JUST for the S support.
Playing as Male Byleth is always worth so you and Marianne can live happily ever after.
The Deer was my first and still fav, Lorenz is definitely the least interesting take on "stereotypical" noble but has his moments especially post time skip, Leonie is a beast on the field, Raph is the best big brother in the world, Ignatz is there, Lysithea is a butcher with a really interesting backstory, Hilda is just funny, Marianne is perfect, and Claude is probably my favorite character in the game.
You never forget your first with three houses.
While I've never had any thought of suicide myself because I think it's the most cowardly way to go out due to leaving so many who love you behind since it's bad enough when someone dies from old age like my grandpa this December, I miss the man so having Marianne wanting to go early was just something I couldn't let happen, whenever I do a playthrough of Three Houses I always recruit her.
Mercedes is my favorite girl for Blue Lions and Petra is the same for Black Eagles, between Mercedes's sweet old sister vibes I get from her, and Petra's lack of literate knowledges are just fun.
I will always go for Blue Lions first.
I just noticed that most of the deers can be described as,
Beginning bad, but Ending great.
One of the biggest reasons why the Deer is my favorite house is because I feel that they have the most character growth overall compared to the other houses (not that the other houses don’t have it too, but the Golden Deer is the most noticeable of them all)

On the topic of Claude, I really think he’s characterized *much* better in Three Hopes, seeing as he’s actually allowed to follow through on the schemes he always talks about, rather than copying Seteth’s actions from Silver Snow. He ends up not really doing much different from Seteth in Houses, other than dialogue being more goofy and Claude-like, but the end result is the same as when Seteth does it in SS. Only really the final boss being different, which, I’ll admit, was pretty awesome for Claude’s character, especially with that little speech during the cutscene. Although I think it would’ve been more fitting to swap the final bosses of SS and VW, so we could have Seteth and Rhea fight Nemesis again, but alas. Anyway, I’m looking forward to what you think about Claude when you do the Hopes video :) I think they made him way more interesting there, making him more morally-grey like everyone else, rather than just goofy scheme man
I agree with Hopes Claude Being really interesting since we get to actually see his underhanded side and it makes sense that he would do these things without Byleth’s guidance which is a really good contrast to his Houses side where he clearly still doesn’t like Rhea and wants her gone but Byleth reminds him that they need the truth from her and he actually trusts his friends much more rather than being a loner (like in “the Golden Scheme” chapter he actually takes advice from Hilda and uses her plan which shows how much he’s grown)
However I have to disagree about Claude being SS Seteth in terms of story, because looking at the little details, the Golden Scheme Chapter only makes sense with Claude and not Seteth, Seteth never does the Gronder chapter, and in VW it’s actually explained very well about the Javelins of light where in SS it’s never brought up again, and the ending of both routes is completely different besides just the finale, while in SS Rhea somehow goes haywire after getting fatally injured and the ending is when all three nations cease to be and Byleth is just a wonderer, VW on the other hand, Thales, with the last of his power, brings Nemesis back to life, and Rhea while dying tells Claude and Byleth the truth about the past and after Nemesis is defeated, Thales, Rhea, and Nemesis are all now dead (since unlike Silver Snow, Rhea dies in VW no matter what) making the past buried and allowing Claude and Byleth to look towards the future and most importantly unlike every other route in the game, Claude’s dream of ending Racism for good becomes a reality and Byleth becomes the new ruler of Fodlan which is very different from Silver Snow’s Ending
I'm still astonished at how much Lorenz grew on me. Personally, I think he has one of, if not the best character development out of any FE character. Plus he's funny to meme. Me and my friends always refer to him as The Squidward/Squilliam of fire emblem xD.

Which path is correct? Might be bias here, but any path other than Black Eagles. Blue Lions and Golden Deer simultaneously stop Edelgard from taking over Folden and remove Rhea from power.
His supports aren't super interesting and even then, his support partners are the ones who are learning or getting development

Am I the only one who found Claude better on 3hopes? Personally I felt Verdant Wind does him no favors as he is shoved into generic hero role with very little to stand him out not helped by Verdant wind being SS with the serial numbers changed.
Three hopes mad him the dangerous wild card Three Houses tried to convince us he was and in my opinion fell short off except when he was against us.
I know it wasn’t what everyone wanted but I feel giving Claude some texture was badly needed, though I can understand if some people felt it went to far.
Actually is it weird that Golden Wildfire jumped up to being one of my favorite outcomes for Fodlan just because all three lords and all of the students are still alive at the end? We also have a balance of powers and a more mellow Edelgard who will probably have to accept the peace deal Claude is likely going to put forwards and will instead focus her full attention on the Agarthans and her reforms.
I love both versions of Claude and I won't begrudge anyone who personally didn't like Hopes Claude, but people have such rancid takes about him based on...well, nothing. Hopes just amplified what was already there and what he could have been if he'd never met Byleth.
You're not the only one who likes Hopes Claude better. I think UA-camr Mamodxx likes Hopes Claude more, and some people in BlazingKnight's Twitch chat also. I also like Hopes Claude better due to him being more complex and vulnerable this time around. And yeah, I agree he comes off more as a Wild Card, primarily in Scarlet Blaze and Golden Wildfire. And interestingly enough, like in Three Houses for me, the Golden Deer outcome in Three Hopes is one of the top two outcomes for Fodlan alongside the Byleth-recruited Black Eagles outcome in that game. With Rhea out of the picture, reforms can come to all nations way more easily. I even feel fine with the Kingdom standing since reforms can come presumably at a gradual pace since Rhea can't intervene.
@@sjk8495 Same, tbh. I LOVE the Blue Lions and their routes, but Faerghus is so shackled to the Church of Seiros it would be hard to make the sweeping changes it needs. Even in AM where Rhea steps down, Dimitri knows too well how Faerghus reacts to reforms. :(
@@Lynn17 I know on my side, my main issue with the BL Houses ending is that TWSITD is still out there, whereas in other routes the group is mostly wiped out (or eliminated completely in Crimson Flower). The Golden Wildfire ending doesn't bother me as much since presumably the Federation and Empire can hunt the group down. Also, for the BL Houses ending, while the game makes it clear reforms do come, I prefer if the Crest system is burned to the ground. And the GD Houses ending in my eyes can potentially allow the system to be removed since the truth about Crests and Relics was revealed, thus delegitimizing the system. And as for the BL Hopes ending, well I can simply point to what happened to Edelgard and the Empire, plus Rhea's survival and possibility of not changing, as possible evidence of why the BL Hopes ending isn't ideal for Fodlan.
@@sjk8495 I too like Hopes Claude because it shows what kind of person he is without Byleth’s guidance and we actually SEE his underhanded and scheming side rather than being told about it and his decision to get rid of Rhea actually falls in line with his character in Houses, since he mentioned subtlety that He would like a world without Rhea but Byleth kept reminding him that they needed the truth from her, furthermore after Claude is reunited with Rhea, he’s clearly not happy to see her but still needs the truth regardless. Also interesting to note how in both Fodlan games in both Claude and El routes, Rhea dies no matter what, and in Dimitri routes, Rhea lives. So I am very glad that Hopes Claude exists because it shows us what type of person Claude would be WITHOUT Byleth’s guidance (Much like how Edelgard and Dimitri have shown how they are without Byleth’s guidance in Houses)

Hello there. I appreciate your suggestion however I stopped playing heroes around 6 months ago and even before I stopped I never payed attention to the weapon refines but it was an aspect of the game I didn't care for.
Therefore I must apologize but a video concerning the strongest weapon refines in heroes is something I have no desire to make.

Sorry, but despite of the many great Supports that she has with others, the Byleth Support is the one that prevents me from truly liking her (I wish that was not the case though), especially since that Support Chain depicts her as a petty and jealous jerk. At least there is an understandable context to Ingrid's animosity towards Dedue, since her fiancé was a victim in the Tragedy of Duscur, and obviously the Duscurians were publicly blamed for that. On the contrary, Leonie berates on Byleth *TWICE* merely because Byleth doesn't act like the president of "Captain Jeralt's fanclub".
Sadly I agree, I want to like Leonie because she’s a fellow Deer and she does have some good Supports, but as someone who self inserts as Byleth more than most Avatars, Her B Support timing couldn’t be at a worse time in the game and sadly she still snapped at Byleth in their Paralogue in Hopes and even criticized Jeralt when he tried to correct her (Her unjustified anger at Byleth is as bad as Hana’s to Corrin in Fates) and her Support with Byleth is my Least favorite Support in all of Houses (I still think Leonie is a good character overall, it’s just impossible to ignore how atrocious Her Byleth Support is)

For unit utility, I'm surprised you didn't mention the Sacred Weapons. The Axe of Ukonvasara for Lorenz and Claude's Sword of Begalta. Sure, they have no exclusive combat arts but the chosen users always bothered me. I felt the sword and axe should have been reversed since a sword wielding Lorenz would have made for an excellent Mortal Savant and Claude using an axe while still riding a wyvern is a no brainer. Just don't give the axe to Lysithea unless you're playing Three Hopes. And the Tathlum Bow is not an ideal weapon for Mercedes but her brother slaughters everything in his path with it.
They did admittedly skip my mind and that was a blunder on my end, though in most case the sacred weapons for claude and lorenz don't usually end up being used.

Rankings aside, I personally found the blue lions to be the cream of the crop when it comes to three houses and for one reason: There tone and how they set it for each section of the game. Let me explain: The blue lions felt to me more like they were balancing the happy-go lucky feel of games like birthright where they make it CLEAR your the good guys that must strike down the evil empire of Norh, and the dark serious, and very political tone of older games like the Telious saga. They strike this balance by having the pre-time skip section start off very light for the group, but over time it grows darker and darker, until eventually....The boar comes charging fourth, lance ready to kill. however!!!...don't take this as me hating on the golden deer. Well Raphael and Ignatz may not have the best convos with other people, together they have a lot to bear, as it was, though unintentional, Ignatz's parents who gave a job to Raphael's parents that was assigned to them but the latter were unfortunate enough to get ambushed and perished. Ignatz felt guilty about it but Raph bears no grudge and tells him not to carry that on his shoulders. With his bulk Raph might scare children but he has a heart the same color as his house.
Shame you never covered Three hopes because Lorenz looked like James from Team Rocket, rose and all. Plus Mr. Diskin pulled double duty, and 3Hopes we get to meet his dad.
Same goes for Hilda as we are humbled by her big bro, though he can be overbearing. Like if Hilda let out a small sneeze Holst would barge in, wrap her up in more blankets than a mummy with bandages, put a block of ice as big as a dictionary on her head and run off getting her off the battlefield. Though Hilda was uncomfortable with Seteth, who basically saw through her act, was rather surprised when she gave her input on a children's story he was working on as implying death in a story for children is a no-no. I find it very surprising Lysithea was voiced by Gui from Captain Planet, though her magic is never anything to scoff at. But at least we saw what color Edelgard's hair was before she was experimented on. Here, nothing. was it red? crimson? teal? obsidian? What was your old hair color girl? WHAT WAS YOUR OLD HAIR COLOR?!
Leonie is the standard jack of all trades, though she could be a master of all, and I prefer her Three Hopes look though it was nice to have her and Jeralt on the same team. I imagine Leonie doing to Kronya's corpse what Seiros did to Nemesis.

And finally, Marianne, just wow. It was only yesterday Xanthe Hyunh was a princess who was only interested in alchemy... They grow up so fast. Where was she when we lost Etika? We need more Marianne's in the world. In fact, she actually did face her demons and won in her paralogue.
The premise: A scholar confronts Marianne about her history, we tell him to leave and she opens up about her crest, The Crest of Maurice later known as the Crest of the Beast. We help her get some closure on this as Marianne confronts the corrupted form of Maurice and after helping her defeat him, he bestows upon us his Heroes Relic. When the scholar returns we confront him again and present him with Blutgang, and he is shocked to see the real Blutgang, the relic of Maurice as legends claim that Maurice never let go of the sword, even after his death. After which he leaves willingly and thanks to us, Marianne's view of the world suddenly becomes brighter.
This was well worth the wait, and now they need a football team: Fear the Deer!

Before watching video: Welp, time to rank the Golden Deer. I'm sure Lysithea's probably number one just like every other list I've seen.

After watching video: So your placings make a lot of sense. Especially Marianne. She and Leonie are my two personal favorites of the Golden Deer.
None of the guys really peak my interest. Raphael is too one-note, Lorenz is a pompous whelp, Ignatz is alright I guess, and Claude really just doesn't suit me.
Hilda is essentially just there to be Caspar's girlfriend and that's it (I'm glad someone appreciates it as much as me even tho Caspar's a dense buffoon).
Finally, Lysithea. Boy, do I not like Lysithea for all the reasons you mentioned. And how I wish she wasn't a good enough combat unit to the point where everyone would stop using her. Unfortunately that'll never happen. That, however, doesn't really dissuade me from the fact she's a walking powder keg. Her character is often, though it makes sense psychologically, very abrasive, more often than Felix or Hubert, and that's saying something. Can't stand the fact she can't take the whole age thing without it being misinterpreted as, "Oh I guess I'm too stupid to figure this out because I'm too young."
I can understand why people like her for her combat. The fact that she's practically most people's number 1 non-lord pick (and sometimes even the lord of their route can't stop them) for character reasons is something I'll never understand, period. Luckily 3 Hopes rectifies this with Shez calling out Lysithea for how dumb her logic is.
Honestly lysithea should be above marianne and Leonie. Being rude doesn't mean bad characters, even if hmshe was flawed and rude and naive before time skip. She was tortured, desperate to be treated as an adult because of her short life spam, and overall didn't mean to act rude but she never knew how to communicate. It's part of her flaws and trauma, which are more dimensional than marianne. Especially lysithea's development în The tine skip which wasn't as forced as marianne's
Also no, Felix îs way more rude than lysithea. Don't exaggerate

Sorry but I have to heavily disagree on the Lysithea bit because she has some fantastic character growth and While I can understand why she’s not for everyone (the same way Lorenz, Leonie, Hubert and Felix aren’t for everyone) I still Personally found her character growth to be some of the best in the game especially considering that after 5 years she really matured and her A Supports shows how much she’s grown and is no longer as quick tempered as before (if you want my full reasoning why Lysithea is my absolute favorite character in all of FE, my earlier comment explains it best)

Felix is someone who picks apart people's belief and harshly criticizes most people who don't have the same opinion as him on the moral level.
Lysithea is someone who retorts back at someone who makes any sort of remark, statement, or comment regarding her youth, age, or otherwise, even if whatever they're doing has nothing insulting attached to it.
I still think Felix is less aggravating since his retorts stem from his father treating his brother as if his death was inevitable and he died for the sake of a higher cause. His comments to Dimitri, Dedue and Ingrid (yes even his sexist comments to Ingrid) all suggest that he wants his allies to survive and be focused on what's in front of them.
As far as I could tell, Lysithea's supports do little to actually explain her situation and in the case of characters like Marianne and Ignatz, mainly just paint her as a bully since she not only refuses help, she outright goes out of her way to ensure that the person feels bad for offering aid in the first place. That's way worse than Felix imo.
And no, the whole "I had trauma when I was younger" doesn't cut it for me. This behavior is unacceptable for someone with said trauma. Even before 3H you had Katarina in FE12 who was sold as a slave in Knorda Market, then trained to be an assassin by someone who lost their soul to Gharnef and then proceeded to lose their only friend in said assassin group to Marth's Army. And when she was recruited, she never berated anyone like that.
Some people react differently with different experiences of trauma, but Lysithea's is by far the worst. Easily the worst character in the Golden Deer for me, and quite frankly one of the worst in all FE.
Deer have always been my kids. I found that I liked pretty much all of them.
