- The Point Ruston Owners Association said the directive is due to an exclusivity clause over selling Mexican food in the contract of a brick and mortar vendor.

What about Italian, American, and Thai food? Are they safe to eat or will I turn into those nationalities if I eat them at the market?
Possibly. Eat with caution
What thee actual FAQ!!! Who made this rule? Names? Put them on blast
Point Ruston owners association. They said it multiple times
FAQ??? Frequently asked questions?
Mexican food is delicious. It's just a fact.
Excuse me Miss, do you have a license for that taco?
WOW,that's BS! 100% agree with the protesters. To hell with the city and that law, they are beyond out of touch with reality. I say we roll up to that market and have a HUGE FIESTA. I'm talking Mexican food trucks, lowrider exposition, mariachi bands and awesome Mexican food and culture, education and fun too. They have tons of Mexican food trucks at the markets and events in Seattle, why not tachoma too? It will CONVINCE the city to have more Mexican businesses at that market or raise funding for it. Me casa,su casa!
so when and where? let's make it happen!
@Doug Spooner yeah, sorry,my bad. Stupid auto correct. It's been fixed.
Whom ever leases out the Waterfront must own a chain of Mexican cuisine establishment s. It's in essence a non competitive clause.
Ok,fine. I'll play ball,so to speak. what about "taqueria el rinconsito"? They are a chain of Mexican cuisine restaurants.
Nah,I support local businesses first before I turn to politics. Even if they are family run chain busisnesses. Both sides don't want to support this completely. I do, and they both have left us out to dry and told us to support ourselves in the end.
Who doesn't love Mexican food ?
Point Ruston is a rather disgraceful display of gentrification.
It makes me wonder how awesome the whole place could be if actual people from Tacoma ran it, with actual Tacoma businesses.
You all failed to do your due diligence. These two vendors any many others don't even have a State of WA DOR State Business License or a City of Tacoma license. They shouldn't even be allowed to operate...they're breaking the law.
How come they didn’t want the Hispanic deliciousness? Sound like the other shops wanted to get rid of that taco shop?
When the owners of the Mexican restaurant negotiated their lease with their Point Ruston landlord they negotiated a exclusivity clause.
The landlord agreed not to open another Mexican restaurant on their property, this includes temporary, pop up’s, and food trucks. This is a very common practice in retail real estate.
That is a very klan/trumpian response. At the end of the day saying a particular race is not allowed to conduct business is the very definition of racism.
@@philp1398 The media is making race the issue. I spent 30 plus years working with retailers and leases and I can assure you this is about a common protection some retailers are able to negotiate into their leases. If it was a hardware store, beauty supply, or specially store with exclusivity same logic applies. Use restrictions, radius clauses, co-tenancy, percentage of lease space , etc are some of the protections landlords and tenants seek when negotiating a favorable lease.
The only way the “association” can enforce this part of the lease is if they are the owner of the lease. If they are not owners of the lease than they have no say.
@@chipbower361 Uh-huh. When an someone says no "Mexican" vendors allowed. It's about race. It's pathetic how you trump cultists twist youtselves in knots to justify blatant racism. If you have kids I genuinly feel sorry for them.
There should be a follow up a few months later for either an explanation or accountability to this.
I will not support that Farmer's Market any more. Even if an exclusivity clause was signed between landlord an the other restaurant.
I’m not one to jump to everything being “racist” but this surely seems to be the case in this scenario. What a Disgrace.
Good ol gentrification for ya.
Wow, need to get them in court and put a stop to this.
Mexican food is my third favorite food...... and I'm Mexican. Chinese food is my favorite. Especially dim sum and szechuan. 😋
What’s second?

Just kidding. I'd say sushi.
That’s Tacoma for you
Sheeeet, all this Mexican food talk made me hungry, I definitely stop by on my way to work.
... wow
This is ridiculous
Vote out all dark money politicians, ASAP.
Racists
Hispanic is not a race, Everyone that is Hispanic is the white race. So no not racist.
This is absolutely illegal.
I feel like the owners and perhaps the older residents who live within the plaza are the ones to blame. I’m Hispanic I’m from California and I absolutely love that I love a few miles down from Rustin so I come here often with my family and I will admit that I have come to notice that we are stared down by certain pple . These pple walk about with their head up and they have a certain way about their walk that makes us feel like it’s safe to say they are residents to the plaza and can’t help but to feel that they despise colored folk specifically when we bring our culture to the plaza . I hope the state takes measures to make this offensive discrimination issue work out for the safety and peace of hard working Latino culture and of any nationality, we use our ways of life not only to make a living but to bring love and togetherness, to be part of Washington and it’s historic history. I was told by a good source that the Rustin plaza does not allow venders to sell like products , this can be thought of both good and bad, but this is not what is being said nor done here. Please show your support to the Rustin community who IS supporting us and togetherness in the community let’s be civil and bring this news the the light
I can honestly say members of The Point Ruston Owners Association are very stupid. Mexican food they say.
If the restaurant owner bought local produce, the food that grows there, is that going to be called Mexican?
Hey... you might say Mexican flavor and Mexican style food, saying taco and burrito shells, or flat bread,
but that's also how people from India cook and eat. It follows that if one is outlawed so should the other.
"Aqua Fresca"? lol
This is totally racial
No it's more typical Elitist B.S.!!
Not elitist. trump cultilsts. BTW did Mexico pay for that useless wall like draft dodging donnie said they would
Bruh
Come to Bremerton/Silverdale. We love Mi Familia market!
AMERICA CALL JESUCRISTO
This is bu115it
Ah yes! The trump cultists of Tacoma are acting out once again!
Lol why tho
Well hey maybe the toliets at the farmers market were getting clogged up to often
WTF
That's Washington for you.
are you insinuating one of the most liberal, and straight-ticket voting democrat states, is actually racist
And the thing of it is here in Seattle Washington I don't know about other places have the Mexican food a white people are in there eating their food lot of the Mexican people here's got two three businesses that they open and they start at 1:00 a lot of the Mexican people with the money that they make they can go to any car dealership and buy a car quicker than any white person why is that because you got 10 people working in one family in that 10 people's making almost 7,000 a month good income and the white man here all they want to do is belly ache about the Mexicans and what they don't understand if there wasn't for the Mexicans picking the vegetables and fruit they wouldn't have anything to eat cuz a lot of the people that own Farms how white people and they just complain and they didn't want to work.
More BS
Were Mexicans part of the original area historically?I'm sure that's why. Everybody has to scream racism thou.
Not gonna say they weren't for sure because honestly why does that matter? It's a public farmers market, I've never been to a Public farmers market that had any relativity to only include certain "local historical" racial associations??
Yes , they were.
@@rottweilerfun9520 Right, the settler's were Mexican. Gotcha
@@roblove2301 Indians don't count?
@@brucethedruidWhen did they say American Indian food wasn't allowed? It's sad how Americans can't have history because you see racism everywhere. It's pathetic.
