  • I check out the new DT Swiss F535 ONE Fork. Met up with Chris, the Brand Manager for the UK and put it on my Levo, replacing the stock Fox 34.
    What a difference!

    The forks look fantastic and from your initial review are a significant improvement over the Fox 34 factory shocks that come on the Levo- sweet!

    Looks a great bit of kit..Good to have another quality option. I currently have Domain, Pike, Lyric and Fox 36 factory on different bikes. I use a 8 set of brick steps at home to test my settings. Launch off and front first landing for bottom out then ride up and down for supple and grip. I run 40psi in the tyres but reduce to 30 and 24 for trail test. I would like to see how these forks go on a slow rock garden climb with the springs initial absorption. Enjoyed the vid, have DT swiss wheels on 4 of my bikes.

    4:58 150kg is 330 pounds! Finally a Clyde-capable front fork that retains some subtle soft nuances that typically gets negated by the air psi settings needed for heavy riders. 5:13 Yes, he is a true Clyde rider! I'd like to meet Chris and talk heavy rider (Clyde) technology and work-arounds! 6:58 Damn! I'm excited about this DT Swiss fork! 8:42 I want to see Chris' bike! A Clyde rider on full-suspension? Have I died and gone to Valhalla? Do a special Clyde video with Chris! 8:52 Yep, Clyde calfs! I have them too... I am going to look into these forks for my Clyde self...

      Get in Clyde. Nice one . Finally some forks that are capable of handling all of your Clydeness.
      As much Clydeness as you can throw at em.
      Go on the Clydes! Speak up, some of us hear ya!

    DT Swiss is treating you good with fork and wheels. :) No question, the fork should feel better than the bottom level, cheapest Fox Rhythm came on the Levo. I really like its look and I would be curious how does is feel to a comparable Fox 36 Performance Elite or RS Lyrik RCT3 and what would make someone to spend the money on this over those? Ease/cost of servicing etc... I hope you will cover those in future videos.

      Hey Tamas, I have the Lyric on my 2019 Kenevo so quite familiar with it. The biggest difference is that on the F535 you have 8mm of coil spring on the initial stroke and it is very, very plush, like really comfortable as it uses that for the initial stroke before moving over to the air spring. It does this seamlessly (you can’t notice at all). Mid stroke support is then excellent. I’ve not had any big hits yet so can’t comment on it’s effectiveness there just yet. And yes it looks very well designed and the finish on it looks and feels very premium.

    • @RobRidesEMTB
      @RobRidesEMTB  6 років тому +1

      But yes I agree lots more testing to do and it is an expensive fork going up against the 36 Factory and Lyrik 👍

      @@RobRidesEMTB hi Rob. Would you say you could now give an opinion on this topic yet. I'm going to upgrade the forks on my 2019 levo comp. Thought about just upgrading the damper in the revelations to the 2.1 with high and low speed compression adjustment.
      But getting fox36 factory grip2 , or lyrik ultimates would give me a stiffer fork, less flex.
      Now with the dt swiss f535 is it as stiff as the other 2 choices. They look like they ride well. But I'm still trying to get my head around 8mm of spring!?
      Which would you choose today?
      Thx rob.
      Edit- Hi Tamas, hope you are well, could you answer my question?

    Shame you din't had it on at the Swinley meet few weekends ago mate. You could of had a go on mine with the 160mm Fox grip2 and see which one you liked best. Shame bike as yours as you know. Good video mate cheers.

    Great video rob , you where riding well there attacking the trail , those forks look slick , I see your running Maxxis minions what are your thoughts on them like drag , grip etc I’m thinking of getting a pair for my 18 levo especially for the front trying to make it stick a bit more . Phil

    • @RobRidesEMTB
      @RobRidesEMTB  6 років тому +1

      Hi Phil. Cheers mate. I’ve tried the 3C MaxxGrip DHR / DHF combo which offer insane grip but poor rollers, noticeably slower. I then got a set of the regular dual compound Exo’s. Good but I noticed a big difference in grip. So now have 3C MaxxGrip DHR front and regular dual compound Exo on the rear. This seems like a good combo, faster rolling on the rear (2.4”) and uber sticky 2.5” on the front. I’ll prob get the MaxxTerra at some point for a bit I between.

    • @philhicks5818
      @philhicks5818 6 років тому +1

      EMTB Forums cheer rob , the minions would be a lot slower on 2.8” then that’s the size on mine , I guessing yours are narrower being 29’s .
      Thanks for your reply rob , all the best
      Phil

    Do you think the f535one 27.5 130mm can fit on a Roscoe 7(2020) with 27.5+X2.8" tires ?

    Just throwing an idea: would you be able to record your videos in 4K or just up-scale render them in 4K or 1440P? I think this would help greatly in making your videos look even better since UA-cam right now compresses them so bad in the forest setting.

    • @RobRidesEMTB

      They are all 4K 👍

    I’m considering the change the Sektor on my Levo 2019.
    I do trips in the Ardennes. So not so heavy descends.
    Is this one an overkill for my use? Or should I go for a pike RCT3?

    • @RobRidesEMTB
      @RobRidesEMTB  6 років тому +2

      I’d totally recommend this fork. It’s so plush and comfortable. But it’s expensive compared to some. If you’re looking for one of the best forks then this is it! It will be good for your trips 👍
