      It was a long one but we hope it covered all the aspects and sides of Kyoto because that was our idea 😍 We had such a fantastic time there but obviously it was a little bit impacted by the number of tourists - probably each of the visitors was a a bit frustrated but at the end of the day, everyone there is for the same cause and the surroundings were just STUNNING! We would definitely want to come back one day and venture into lesser known areas 🙏🏼
      We’re uploading 2 more exciting vlogs from Japan so hope you’ll enjoy watching them too!!!

    honestly kyoto was my favorite of my trip, but that was found in just the streets, the quiet, the houses with the beautiful views, i did kiyomizudera and the fushimi inari shrines both were beautiful but i preferred getting away from the crowds.

      Thank you so much for your kind words! We loved Kyoto but we do agree that the visitors not always respect the places when you’re on holiday. We hope we showed everything what makes this city most unique and beautiful 😍

    Kyoto is what we think of when we visit a traditional city in Japan. We love it. We're sure you do too. And having a game plan when you tour it, makes it easier and fun. The food is out of
    this world. We had the best sushi ever in our lives there. Arigatu-Amas🙏 for the lovely tour.
    Harriet and I want to take this time out to wish you guys and your families a Wonderful Holiday Season ! It's been a wonderful year discovering you guys on the channel.
    Looking forward to the New Year 2025 with more content. Sending you much love ❤ from Richmond, VA. Jim and Harriet

      These are such loving words from you 🥹🥹 Thank you Jim and Harriet so much for your support and for letting us show you different experiences from our side!
      Kyoto is definitely a beautiful place that radiates a beautiful energy - we were amazed at all the places we visited. We are convinced that this is what most people go there for! The food was delicious!!! So we continued this beautiful culinary adventure further in Osaka - the city known as the food capital of Japan. We hope you enjoy the next vlog ❤️ Merry Christmas to both of you!!! 🎄

    A trick to Kyoto is researching the lesser visited spots. For an example, the bamboo forests. Everyone knows about the one in Arashiyama. However, they are two lesser known and visited spots. The 1st bamboo forest, 'Take-no-michi' in Muko. Which can be found in a 20 minute train ride from Arashiyama. And the 2nd bamboo forest can be found off a path from the main paths of Fushimi Inari Taisha.

    • @JayandKarolina
      @JayandKarolina  24 дні тому +2

      We were shocked when we realised that no matter how early you wake up, it’s going to be thousands of tourists around the main spots (temples) 🥺 We went there in November which was perfect time for travelling as the autumnal colours were just stunning 🍁🍂 so probably it also was to be expected that there will be plenty people having the same idea…

    • @jaybee4288
      @jaybee4288 24 дні тому

      You actually do better going later in the day. Everyone has the same idea to get there early and it’s one of the busiest times. But crowds tend to drop around dinner time.

    Hello!
    Thank you for the wonderful video ❤️
    16:30
    Why photographing maikos and geishas is avoided
    When they are walking outside, they are on their way to work.
    I read that the union forbids it because too many photographers gather during the commute and it interferes with going to the store😅
    I also think it's to avoid having your private moments photographed by a bunch of strangers.
    An event where you can take pictures of maiko and geiko
    I would be happy if I could do it!

    • @jaybee4288
      @jaybee4288 24 дні тому

      There’s not really much point in that. You either go and queue up with the rest of the tourists for the attractions everyone wants to see, or go to a different city that’s less crowded like Kanazawa or Kobe or Fukuoka instead. No point in going to Kyoto just to see the less famous sights as there’s a reason they’re less famous.

    • @JayandKarolina
      @JayandKarolina  24 дні тому +2

      We would say: balance it out :) It’s really worth going to some iconic spots but the timing matters + you need to be prepared for the crowds. But definitely it’s good to do some research on lesser known areas because we believe they’ll be equally beautiful too 🙏🏼😍

      You should have started your day early. Be at the Bamboo Forest by 6:30AM or when it's open first thing in the morning and out by 9AM. It's the same for every popular tourist attraction in every country. When you mentioned at the train platform that's It's 9 in morning and I thought that's late.

    6:25 About 98% of visitors to Japan make a mistake, but Chozuya water is not for drinking. After rinsing your mouth, spit it out into the ditch below. It is correct to take water from a dipper with your hand and carry it to your mouth, but it is a formal manner to purify your left and right hands with water before doing it. Please observe the behavior of Japanese people.
    I can feel respect for others from both of you. I hope you have a wonderful trip ahead.

    Kyoto is full of tourists. It seems like it is no longer Japan.😅
    To my surprise, I don't think there was a single Japanese person in the bamboo grove.
    There were so many Koreans, Chinese, Hong Kong, Taiwanese, and other Asians that you wouldn't have noticed, would you?
    We Japanese may visit places we have never been to before, but we do not stop at famous tourist attractions that we have been to once.
    The noisy atmosphere makes us feel uncomfortable, so we can't enjoy the sights and sounds as much as we used to.
    So I am glad that you, as a foreigner, are showing us this through your eyes, as if you are importing back to Japan👍✨
    Thank you for enjoying Japan🍀🍀

    • @JayandKarolina
      @JayandKarolina  24 дні тому +2

      We can totally understand your approach. We felt like we needed to film the most iconic spots but being totally honest, even if it’s beautiful over there, you can find equally stunning places all over Kyoto (or Japan) so that’s what we’ll definitely do next time when we’re back - venturing more into the lesser known areas :)

    • @kei07210
      @kei07210 24 дні тому

      With the suggestion of a place where there are few foreign tourists and where you can relax, there are several cities where carp swim in irrigation canals next to private homes.
      My recommendation is Shimabara City, Nagasaki Prefecture. (carp, irrigation canal).
      Nagasaki City in Nagasaki Prefecture is a city that, like Hiroshima, has recovered from the atomic bombing.
      It is a wonderful prefecture with abundant tourist resources and is visited by the Japanese many times.
      A trip to Nagasaki City, Shimabara City, and across the sea by ferry to Kumamoto City in Kumamoto Prefecture is my favorite route.
      Prices are relatively cheap in Kyushu, so you can have a wide range of money for lodging and meals.
      Everything you eat in Kyushu is delicious anyway!
      Maybe not this time, but you should visit sometime😊✨

    日本を訪れる観光客が34000000人を超え有名な観光地はオーバーツーリズム状態です。少し落ち着くと見て回る時間の余裕も出来るとは思いますが、今は対処できてない状態ですね。そんな中だけど、日本に来てくれた事はありがとう😊

    • @JayandKarolina
      @JayandKarolina  24 дні тому +1

      Yes, the over-tourism is a serious problem in Japan… We feel like there’s going to be more and more people wanting to explore it so the only way is to limit the number of foreigners coming to the country by the government somehow 🧐 But it might be hard because there’s no way it would be possible to track the movement of all the people…

    I would suggest unless you’re going off season to consider giving Kyoto a miss. Sounds crazy but the attractions there are based on peace and quiet. It’s lovely when you have a lot of it to yourself. But during tourist times you literally can’t take any of the good photos and feel crowded all day.

    • @JayandKarolina
      @JayandKarolina  24 дні тому

      It’s a really hard decision to take because not only Kyoto is beautiful but also holds a lot of history… We might have felt even more overwhelmed because we wanted to deliver good content for you to watch (and nobody wants to see people’s faces in beautiful places haha) but definitely would try to plan a trip to Japan in a way that is not within the most popular periods :)

    Japan is currently a rare country where people can enjoy high-quality products and services at low prices. While it’s uncertain whether this situation will continue in the future forever , as long as the impact of exchange rates and illegal immigration is kept in check, I believe Japan will remain a tourist paradise where visitors can experience safety, affordability, and a refined culture.

    • @jaybee4288
      @jaybee4288 24 дні тому +4

      The current level of tourism is unsustainable for them. There is growing resentment from the Japanese people towards tourism and they’re starting to charge for attractions and have more “Japanese only” places. Likewise internationals are bringing higher crime rates etc. While it’s true their economy isn’t likely to improve anytime soon, it will become less desirable for tourists to go there. People already complain about how crowded and unfriendly it is. Shame really as it used to be really cool when it was more expensive, authentic and less crowded.

    • @JayandKarolina
      @JayandKarolina  24 дні тому +1

      We strongly believe that the government will impose some general rules to control the movement of people coming into the country because in a way both sides would be happier: locals will not feel overwhelmed with the number of tourists, and the visitors would have a less stressful time going around the country 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

      スーパーやショッピングモールも楽しいと思うので、またおこしやす🎵

    私は大阪に住んでいますが、京都までは約30分ぐらいで行けます🚃🚐
     それにしても凄い外国人観光客でいっぱいですね😅それに予約しないと食事するにも時間がかかりそう😰和菓子(饅頭や団子🍡)の店は大繁盛みたいですね~😉
     嵐山の竹藪にはぜひ早朝に訪れて下さいね😉🆗✨?化野念仏はいつ有料💴になったんだろう🤔?錦市場は外国人観光客相手だから、値段が高くて狭すぎる!もっと安くて、ゆっくり座って食べる場所を提供してあげて欲しいなぁ🙇
     伏見稲荷大社は外国人には凄く人気みたいですね👍️鳥居⛩️や建物の色が朱色なのは、魔除けを意味する色なんですよ😉🆗✨?

      Thank you so much for sharing all them insights 😍 We definitely would recommend to visit the iconic spots as early as possible but also don’t put too much pressure on yourself because you also want to enjoy it at the end :)
      We also went to Osaka and found the city way more relaxed and with more of a local atmosphere! We loved all the foods too - you’ll see in our next vlog!!! 😍🐙🥞🇯🇵

      @@ugl933I visit Kyoto frequently and I think it’s busy throughout pretty much the whole year. Only time that I see empty Kyoto was right after the city lifted the covid restriction.

      Lowest crowds are off season so like Nov-early February or late May-August. Which aren’t ideal because of the weather. If you’re going spring or autumn it will be packed.

    내가 현재 일본에 있으면서 느낀점은
    일본인들은 상당히 기계적이고 타인의 눈치를 많이 본다.
    나까지 행동에 지나치게 절제 해야한다.
    아주 피곤하다.
    그리고 과잉친절 굉장히 부담스럽다!!
    서양인에게는 어려워 하지만 나같은 한국인은 2류취급
    (느낌으로 알수있다)
    중국과 동남아는 3류취급
    (대놓고 무시한다)
    행동과 인상에서 일본의 속마음과 특유의 민족성이 드러난다.
    나는 이탈리아 로마를 갔지만 차라리 거기가 인간적 이었다.
    간사이에 일주일 있으면서 두번다시 일본에는 오지 않을것이다.
    나는 간사이 에서 정신병이 걸릴거 같다.
    인종차별 당하더라도 차라리 유럽을 다시 가겠다.

    I think you should just stop complaining about the amount of tourists if you're choosing to go to these hot spots. Why not steer clear of them and visit less known places? Just stay away from the tourist traps because you know it's going to be crowded. And yes, it is hypocritical.

      We loved all the foods and the variety of it in Japan 😍 And for the Japanese the convenience stores might be just a usual thing but for the foreigners they were just the best! It's super impressive entering a small shop where you can literally buy yourself breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, desserts, hot/cold drinks which are delicious and not overpriced at all 🙏🏼
