2:38 Dude, yes! I'm with you on this, The Forgotten One made you have to stock all healing and mana items if you wanted a chance to survive this encounter. This and Legion or more specifically, the Nucli of the Legion in Curse Of Darkness on PS2 were the top 2 hardest bosses of both games!
Elizabeth from Persona 3 is an absolute SAVAGE to fight. Not only does she have 20,000 HP but beating her is entirely up to luck. She attacks twice for every one of your attacks, and once she dips below 10,000 HP she begins healing herself back to full HP. You have to wait to counter one of her attacks before using your finishing move, but if you accidentally counter on the first attack of the round she will heal herself and the fight after that point is 100% unwinnable. Once she's started healing herself, she will continue full healing whenever she feels like it. If you think about bringing persona that can nullify her attacks, she will launch a super move that does 10 times more damage than the possible max HP. It is impossible to defend against this attack and if you have an instant revive she will simply do it again. To make matters even worse, you can only take on this fight with your main character. If you bring any party members she will not be waiting for you at the bottom of Monad (the hardest optional dungeon in the game). In order to win this fight, it is required you keep precise notes on her HP. It is also NECESSARY to have a specific pair of persona in your arsenal, or this fight is literally impossible. You simply cannot do enough damage fast enough without their combination attack. Thankfully, the prize for winning this fight is an accessory which nullifies all damage except for almighty.
She only heals once, but if she does you won't be able to reduce her hp before the turn limit (she'll spam megidolaon after the limit). I heard that she is not THAT bad if you are prepared, but you would probably need 10+ hours shuffling skills to get the ideal orpheus telos. I almost got insane after 3 hours to fuse a bad one.
@@PuckishAngel I beat her in a few tries, and I remember her healing herself several times. Margaret is the sister with the turn limit. Elizabeth I believe has a time limit, but not a turn one. The worst part of Elizabeth is that you have to be ever vigilant with her HP (if you dont keep track of the damage you've dealt you won't know when to use Armageddon) and it is entirely up to luck if you'll be able to kill her at all due to her healing.

A friend and I used to love playing Tower of Doom, We would go to the arcade with $5 and keep playing that game until our cash was gone, We started seeing how far we could go on one quarter which eventually was the whole game except that powerful red dragon, we did managed to kill the thing a few times but at the cost of most of our quarters we had to play so for the most part, we would avoid him but every once in a while, we would say no more than four lives and if we die, we start over at the start again, He loved the game so much that when they removed it from the arcade, he was going to buy it but at the time couldn't figure out a way of getting the machine half way across the country to his house, we where teenagers and this was in the 90's

Replaying Castlevania first time in like 10 years just tackled the forgotten one on my 3rd try. I didn't look up a walkthrough but I did have a flashback to the ice whip being good against him
I’m not so sure about this one, I’m not the greatest at these games. I have never even beaten a souls like except for the recent star wars game. If we jumped to Sigrun right away, maybe for sure she was difficult. But fighting her sisters is practice for her, and when I finally fought Sigrun I felt quite comfortable fighting her. My death count actually went down after each valkyrie. I counted double digits for the first 2-3 and I actually managed my last two valkyiries with 0 death. I managed to beat Sigrun in about 3-4 tries, which is much less than I would have expected. I was playing on hard, I guess the GMGOW difficulty Sigrun could be included in the list.
@WhatCulture one Castlevania boss I did have is on Castlevania Curse of Darkness: Legion. His core form was always a pain. He took on a giant humanoid form that tried to sweep you, use laser attacks or eruption from the ground.
Here is an old one. There is a boss in might and magic 6 named Q. He's in a relatively low level dungeon, he has more health than a 12 gold dragons, he has an insta kill move that removes all magic from the party member it hits, and if you leave his health resets.
Of this list, I've played Castlevania: Lament of the Innocence and I must say, it ranks Top 5 on my Castlevania list. The Forgotten One wasn't THAT bad of a boss battle, aside from his mouth blast when facing his head. I am glad to see that game get love from you guys, regardless.
While I do love Iga he was kinda a push over as a boss if you ask me. I had no trouble taking him out at all. The boss that was tough in "Bloodstained" for me was defiantly "OD." He killed me at least 4 times and I had to grind and farm to get and eat every food dish to have all the bonuses and buy all the best food i could with all my money to stand a chance. Iga on the other hand first try didn't need a single healing item.
The fact that Jules adds his positive, uplifting, and helpful mental health messages at the end of his videos make me so happy I love that he does it and I hope he realizes that we love that he does that
When fighting Yiazmat, you have the option of leaving the arena to go rest, eat, empty your bladder or whatever you need to do and resume where you left off, but it still is an insanely long boss fight.
AC Black flag legendary ships were such a pain, I was able to beat 3 of them, but after quite a few tries more than I'd like to admit, I couldn't beat the twins. I could always get them both down to a bare sliver, take out the first, but could never finish off the 2nd.
Props on your recognition of Yiazmat. I spent 250+hours on the ps2 version of XII and could never best him. I got him down to 3mill and he insta'd everyone.
Your end of video messages are always good but every so often there's one that's just so on point, this was def one of them for me. Thank you, and great video!
I'd have also added Faust from Legend of Dragoon, you can't even begin to damage him until you've found all the Stardust and received the Vanishing Stone, even then the fight is brutal if you aren't set up just right
If you thought AC Black Flag's legendary ships were tough, wait till you play AC Rogue. In the final battle, you play against a massive armada which includes all the legendary ships you fought before. Yes, you have allies in this battle (and weaker ships you can board to heal yourself) but it is 1000x harder than anything in Black Flag.
@@OmegaMetroid93 same here I've beaten warmech on several occasions (including my four white mage run) but I simply can not beat Ozma. How the hell do you beat a boss that can literally cripple your party in one turn? Demi-fiend is extremely tough but doable but Ozma is just next level dev sadism.
Everything changed for me when I first saw that Superbosses video, that's why I got hooked on WhatCulture Gaming in the first place. Big fan, Jules, keep it up, laughing everyday. And also, C'Thun is still overkill.
Eh, this list seems to mostly be about bosses that are off the game's difficulty curve charts, and all of the optional bosses in Dark Souls, while sometimes a bit harder than most, are not insanely difficult or way outside the Dark Souls norms.
Here's one. The online ur Dragon from dragons dogma. An undead beast so bad that not only does it have 30 weak spots and refuses to die, but literally takes an entire community to kill as its health pool is so large you won't even see its health bar go down while fighting it.
Just want to say thank you brother for all the hard work you put in and how much heart and love you give to everybody else thank you brother Merry Christmas
Ah, Jules. At the beginning of this year, I didn't rank you highly among WhatCulture presenters. But even before you started your messages, you seemed to be better. And now, I'd consider you top two. I know my opinion is subjective, for better or worse, but what is objective and indisputable is the good you've been putting into the world. Merry Christmas, you've been awesome.
Another one who is optional super boss named Amon from the Yakuza series. Depending on what Yakuza game your playing depends on what Amon you fight. In Yakuza 0, you fight Jo and So Amon, Jo amon with fill your inventory up with Amon brand Tissues and Staminan Spork (like a Staminan Spark but with the opposite effects). So Amon will have a cannon on him where if he stuns you he will blast a death ray on you and in his 2nd phase he was call down a helicopter that drops Bombs, furniture that hurts you bad and power ups that make him or whoever picks it up invincible. Judgement is different where you have to fight Shin Amon, during a specific part of the fight he will grapple onto you and will steal your phone (preventing you to pause the game so you can heal)
I thought Yiazmat was pretty fun. It's health stays if you leave the area so it's easy to go save or leave and come back to it (just make sure to dispel before you leave the area, it casts regen and if you leave it with that status it will regen hp while you're gone)
The Leviathan in AC Rogue took me forever to beat. Get too close? 40 cannons to the face. Keep your distance? Constant mortar hellfire. It’s one weakness was laying down burning oil if you got in front of it. Except it was way faster than you. A nightmare to say the least.
Vermiverous from Borderlands 2. It's a raid boss designed for a team of 4 so it's got a butt ton of health, it spits acid, FLIES, will either take forever to trigger or can show up out of the blue, and will despawn if you don't aggro it quickly enough after dying to it. She's not even all that hard, just a pain to fight at all.
The final boss from Octopath Traveler is no joke. Technically it's a post-game boss but i consider it optional at that point. After fighting suped up versions of old bosses with no breaks, the party is split in 2 to fight the upper and lower sections of the Final Boss. At level 99 it still took me multiple tries. Just like trying to get Jules mum to leave my flat after midnight tonsil-hockey, its no easy task.
The twins were either really easy, or really hard depending on if you used the cheese method or not. You also got an item that increased the amount of exp on the character, and can be collected on each playthrough. That said, i'd still say the previous games assistants were far worse.
I love what culture “ bunch of talented young millionaires, with great content ! I literally am just finishing a Culture-Binge, I look forward to years and years of very entertaining videos.
I would say The Crawmerax from Borderlands 1, but not only was there a cheap glitch if you had at least 2 players, the npc's in the sequel actually made fun of the glitch, and it was still present in the remaster
Years ago when I had the PS2 I ran into Yiazmat blindly. I had no clue what I was getting into nor what the requirements were. I just was a completionist with the hunts. I was just exploring when I ran into him. I never beat him and never encountered him again despite trying to actively find him.
Whoa whoa whoa hold up, the twin wardens give you an omnipotent orb which negates all damage for one party member except almighty damage when equipped...although I can’t remember if that’s for beating them or getting to a certain stage
Avalanche Abaasy from the original Xenoblade Chronicles. It's 21 levels above your level cap so for starters, your chances of hitting it are slim, and wittling down its health is a grind. It is immune to most status effects. Then there's the fact that it has a "Death Spike" effect. Whenever a party member is within 15m of it, Instant Death is triggered, unless you manage to be immune to it. Finally, although it can only be encountered at [in game] night, the fight will likely last well into the [in game] day, where a different superboss spawns while you're mid-battle with Abaasy.
Oooh I remember Yiazmat. Got all my team the best gear you could buy, spent 2 hours on perfecting my gambits (gameplay automation for those who didn't play FFXII) and bought a truck-load of healing items . And then had to convince my parents that it was absolutely vital that they didn't turn off my PS2 overnight. the battle lasted 15 hours. And yeah It was totally not worth it BUT I GOT TO BRAG AT SCHOOL
The problem I have with Caroline and Justine isn't their powerful attacks or ridiculous HP. It's that if you don't damage them fast enough they will instantly kill you with an all-out attack. And later on, 'fast enough' means 'you must be unleashing your strongest attacks on us and doing over 3000 damage every single round and MAYBE we'll think about not instant-killing you'. Even Elizabeth and Margaret never did something so unfair. Speaking of SMT bosses I doubt I'll ever beat, Lucifer from Devil Survivor: Overclocked would be my submission for this list.
i agree Castlevaina Lament of innocence doesn't get the love it deserves cause its an awesome game ( is till have it ) but the forgotten on wasn't a hard fight if you had the Blue Orb and axe this gave you the spinning edge ( think large fuma shuriken) and it did most of the work for you cause the axe would go through the rocks you need to stand behind to avoid the damage from his mouth laser, i think i got in like 3 attempts

That whole game is baby mode
I think it was on the last video
Wait wait wait... Dracula's curse? Most people say 1 or 4. Nice to hear someone else loves 3 as one of the best in the series!
That bit of advice at the end was an unexpected but welcome turn lol
Came here to find optional bosses video, ended up getting best encouragement for rest of year.
Thank you Jules!
I was expecting Sekiro's Demon of Hatred on here...
Finding out he was optional AFTER spending 8 hours taking him down was downright infuriating.
If you hadn't said it I was going to.
I'm gonna start Sekiro tomorrow.
Thank you.
You didn't get your lungs punched out of you, you got your lungs slapped out of you.
Lord, I had a blast with the Legendary Ships in AC Black Flag. Those were some fun fights. Took forever to do, but they were worth it.
Why did a top ten start with number 8?
Apologies for that! It's been fixed now!
@@Retr0J nope to late now im expecting 2 more bosses, quick make some up
Retr0J you’re my favourite, adore your messages after the list.
I don’t care about numerical trivialities
@@cloud0598 Jeff from Memetopia Rises and Monster Cat from Cats in Space
The fact that Jules adds his positive, uplifting, and helpful mental health messages at the end of his videos make me so happy I love that he does it and I hope he realizes that we love that he does that
When fighting Yiazmat, you have the option of leaving the arena to go rest, eat, empty your bladder or whatever you need to do and resume where you left off, but it still is an insanely long boss fight.
Yaizmat...........under no circumstances would I EVER fight that sumbitch again. That took way too goddamn long.
It's not yiazmat i feared that time, but sudden electricity blackout when i almost beat yiazmat i feared more
AC Black flag legendary ships were such a pain, I was able to beat 3 of them, but after quite a few tries more than I'd like to admit, I couldn't beat the twins. I could always get them both down to a bare sliver, take out the first, but could never finish off the 2nd.
If you have Yoshitsune, the chances of beating the wardens become MUCH higher
Props on your recognition of Yiazmat. I spent 250+hours on the ps2 version of XII and could never best him. I got him down to 3mill and he insta'd everyone.
Your end of video messages are always good but every so often there's one that's just so on point, this was def one of them for me. Thank you, and great video!
I'd have also added Faust from Legend of Dragoon, you can't even begin to damage him until you've found all the Stardust and received the Vanishing Stone, even then the fight is brutal if you aren't set up just right
The outro alone was sooooooooooo worth it. Good on you homie
Demi-fiend is the most difficult superboss in gaming. Period.
Warmech from Final Fantasy 1 and Ozma from Final Fantasy IX: "are we a joke to you?"
@@SlayerRunefrost I actually beat the warmech. Never fought Ozma though. But Demifiend is just.. evil.
Noob Saibot yeets everyone with his spamming..
Everything changed for me when I first saw that Superbosses video, that's why I got hooked on WhatCulture Gaming in the first place. Big fan, Jules, keep it up, laughing everyday.
And also, C'Thun is still overkill.
I'm surprised this list is not filled with dark souls bosses I'm sure there is at least 5
Eh, this list seems to mostly be about bosses that are off the game's difficulty curve charts, and all of the optional bosses in Dark Souls, while sometimes a bit harder than most, are not insanely difficult or way outside the Dark Souls norms.
What about demon of hatred from sekiro
Because it's a Dark Souls list, right?
Lawrence the first vicar from bloodbornes dlc.
Dark Souls is overrated
Here's one. The online ur Dragon from dragons dogma.
An undead beast so bad that not only does it have 30 weak spots and refuses to die, but literally takes an entire community to kill as its health pool is so large you won't even see its health bar go down while fighting it.
The British voice and mother insult is always so smooth and funny! There needs to be a full video of them
I can't put a number on how many lists I've watched but that was the best one per list yet 😂
Just want to say thank you brother for all the hard work you put in and how much heart and love you give to everybody else thank you brother Merry Christmas
You also get Omnipotent Orb from beating the Twins in P5. It basically makes you Nul everything except for Almighty attacks
I'm not even gonna lie I loved fighting the legendary ships anyone else
Same here
Yeah!
They were the only real challenge left after I fully upgraded the jackdaw
I loved them but I think the strongest were brothers in arms 🥵
@@lordhunt3r994 yeah I think those took me the longest to beat
Those legendary ships.... Damn. I got so mad when fighting the two ships at once.
You forgot about the omnipotent orb for beating twins in p5, which is one of the best items ever in game
I was really hoping The Forgotten One was going to be up there. Thank you!
I hope you don’t actually think you’re a middle of the road presenter, Jules. For most of us you’re the reason we’ve stuck with the channel.
That was a great messenger at the end 👌🏾👍🏾👍🏾 I hope it reaches everyone for the year 2020
Thank you Jules. Forreal you have helped me the last few months.
So you guys are just going to leave out Morgan Freeman from South Park: The Fractured But Whole?
Maybe since the fight is easy aF?
PsYc0M4nt1s LMAO right
he's hard, but not that hard. I beat him my first try. honestly I think the Cartman fight where he keeps cheating is worse.
It was in their other list.
Tyr Magnus my hardest fight was the woodland critters
Last bit of this video really had me listening
Haha thanks for the advice!
Today’s “one per list” had me rolling. Jeeeezus-it was so bad! 😂
Thank you for that last bit at the end. I needed to hear it.
Could have just made the list with Megami Tensei bosses. Demifiend is absolutely top of the list
5:14 Hassou Tobi gang rise up
i agree Castlevaina Lament of innocence doesn't get the love it deserves cause its an awesome game ( is till have it ) but the forgotten on wasn't a hard fight if you had the Blue Orb and axe this gave you the spinning edge ( think large fuma shuriken) and it did most of the work for you cause the axe would go through the rocks you need to stand behind to avoid the damage from his mouth laser, i think i got in like 3 attempts
I watched one of these videos by Jules where he addresses depression and I was having a particularly bad time with it and hearing that message honestly made me feel like I wasnt alone and i hope I'm not the only one who feels that the message at the end is very helpful
Thinking this was a video of bosses and somehow almost start crying at the end lol awesome video
