This was interesting to see, especially with all the little changes, like the boss theme being a more somber version of Sora's theme (just like the case with Roxas) and the little crowns over the lasers instead of the Nobody logo. I love it when even little details like that are included.
Imagine Roxas remained the protagonist of kh2 and goes against the organization while sora tries to reclaim his body from Roxas, ensuing this boss battle. We would’ve been suppressing our original main good boy sorry to a sad fate like we have with Roxas
I wonder would this scenario have lead to what we originally get in canon or would Nomura had experimented with elements from Bleach allowing Sora and Roxas to develop an Ichigo and Zangetsu/White like relationship, two hearts sharing the same body, one being one half of the other, where Roxas [clearly would've decided to give Sora his body back] teaching Sora what he learned during his time in the organziatipn combat wise and just developing somewhat a sibling, master-student like bond.
Or perhaps they do in this alternate take? It'd be really interesting if the Sora we know became the Nobody and This one took on Ven's appearance temporarily for KH2.

Aside from some of the obvious direct swaps this switch could acfually have helped the story for those who got confused I think. If when Sora returned to Kairi in KH1 looking like Ven but with brown hair, and remain that way to be like roxas with brown hair, we'd have a new look Sora and a closer connection to Ven. Now the real twist would be that as two personalities, we actually *do* get 'Roxas' technically, and 'Sora' becomes a proper nobody this time, retaining his memories. That way he feels actually justified for being the OG despite being a Nobody. Add to this the lines "Why'd he pick you?" and "I see, that's why." get a whole new explosive context to Ven instead, as we play as that embodiment of Sora's Light connected to Ven. Design-wise too, it allows Sora (the nobody version) to retain the longer KH2 hair while Main Ven-Sora stays shorter. a bit of a JP way of handling light/dark visually. [just a quick edit here too]: Hearing Roxas's PS2 voice on Sora really does sell me on that being his voice if HJO couldn't return for the role. Gives me the impression of Sora down a different path. All this when he's recompleted would symbolise Sora reconnecting with his dark choice to free his heart to save Kairi and to welcome his dark side back.
And adding the Xion drama on top of that if 358 gets made in this timeline, man I 9 times outta 10 would see Roxas [Sora] developing not only a strong friendship with Xion, but a sibling like relationship, imagine that going into DDD and Sora remembers the Xion parts of 358 we'd see Sora determined to bring her back instead of Roxas
Sora in The Org.Coat just Gives me Xion Flashbacks, And that Roxas Form looks so cool, i kinda Wish This Was The KH2 we Got...(don't get me wrong, i love Default KH2, but just look at this! It is beautiful.)
so i never got to experience KH2 personally until last year because i never had the console to to play it on as a kid [i was a DS Kingdom Hearts fan mostly; got 358/2 Days as my first ever KH game and i changed my life], so most of Kingdom Hearts for me was the DS games, all the cutscenes on youtube, and the translated Ultimanias i could get my hands on at the local library. so what I am going with this is in the absence of being able to play the games, I would come up with random scenarios in my head and this just feels exactly like one I would fall asleep to a lot as a kid - Roxas and Sora never swap until the fight on the World that Never Was, and all the changes that brings with it [Riku losing the fight; or Roxas escapes the digital Twilight Town and Sora wakes with shattered memories that aren't recompleted until this battle. Anyways, thanks for the memories, this is really well done!!
Oathkeeper and Oblivion are so much more fitting as Sora's keyblades. It's a pity they've become iconic to Roxas. If they were ever to do some upgrading for him like they did Riku and Mickey, he'd be better off ending up with something like Two Become One which he formchanges into two weapons.

In KH3 they had the opportunity to give him just one by virtue of the fact that he got his second one from Xion, and then Xion comes back to life, so he could have just returned it to her thereby reducing his total to one. And then if we're talking rewrites for as early as CoM we get even more options.

@@mbrillon765 thats not true. station of awakening is the tutorial place, where you usually have starting choices, its a the start of kh 1, 2 , 3 , bbs, and re:coded. a dive to the heart is when you are actually in someone's heart. just take a look at the names, station of awakening because you awaken at the start of the games and a dive to the heart because you are literally inside a character's heart. they might look similar but they have completely different meanings.

This is just my take, but I think maybe Nomura wanted to show Roxas being able to use Light and Dark so he chose both the Oathkeeper and Oblivion.
