you are awesome!!! Thank you, the mechanic put on 2 new wipers & blades & when I drove home it rained, & the sound was so noisy, I rang them & they said oh it's not the new wipers, it's your windscreen, it's dirty!!! I scrubbed the windscreen & no difference...... and when I took the van in for a service, there was nothing wrong with the wipers only a blocked water sprayer, but wasn't making any noise!!! I appreciate you making these video's, even the so called experts don't know how to fix these issues🙄
On topic of rain, have you seen this one? I don't get an endorsement form Rain-X, I just use it because it makes such a big difference in visibility. This thumbnail photo is NOT a trick or photoshop. Half the glass was treated and then all was sprayed with water. Visibility difference is more than night & day. ua-cam.com/video/kmkgDQu41Rg/v-deo.html
So I did this repair to my chattering windshield wiper and it 100% worked! Thanks Bill for having the extra bit of gray matter needed to create a simple and free solution to an annoying problem.
Great video! My sprinter currently has windshield wiper chatter, and rain in the forecast for several days! I'll be attempting to make the correct adjustments! Thanks!
Thank you!! This issue's been driving me nuts. Bent the blade to press more firmly against the glass, which helped a little but still not ideal. Will definitely try this. 👍👍
My driver arm split at the base and passenger tooth mount is rounded off, gotta love previous mechanics dorking things up. Appreciate the tip. Also, use that bumper step 😊
My driveway where I was filming points downhill just enough I fall off the bumper steps. I'll try to think of that before filming around the windshield and turn the van around next time.
Thank you, that van color is one of my 'mistakes' that I'm OK with. The white bumpers and wheel flares make it pop! Wiper chatter was... "just part of Sprinter ownership" ... until now! I've lived with it for 18 years even though Mike and I talked about this video more than 3 years ago. Fixing it is so simple but I never thought of it at the right time. I will bring tools to fix this for everyone at Winter Sprinter 2024.
Good idea & great quality vid as usual Well done 👍 But personally I use thick cardboard under wipers when working on anything near screen, twice broken screens in 52years of working on cars 1st big Military truck DOD paid 2nd my classic caddy van HFM????😱 Lot more than $300😭😭 Also if you have 2 wrenches/grips/pliers of similar size to each other it's much easier to do jobs like this The bigger the wrench the less effort so less likely to slip same applies when adjusting metal for angle or direction, the bigger the hammer the easier the job, just vary force you apply little🔨lots of hits & lots of 🦾 = BIG HEAVY🔨 little gentle taps Keep the quality videos coming
Proper alignment is to have the blade sitting at about 90deg to windshield so it flips on both up and down strokes. New wipers also make a big difference as the rubber is more flexible.
Agreed, 90 degrees to the glass is ideal and new wipers often help for a little while, but this has been a recurring problem existing more times than not for 18 years. Rain-Ex has been my solution and I'm a little mad at myself for taking so long to fix it. Literally, every time I thought about it... it was raining or I was driving, or both. Finally remembered to do something about it. Woo Hoo!
Hi there! I’ve been binge watching your channel for the last couple hours and have been learning so much great stuff. I have a 2006 t1n and have had to do quite the list of repairs in the past year or 2. I live in Tampa and I was wondering if you might have any recommendations for a trusted mechanic in the general area? I leave from Tampa to California in 1 week and would like to have my van looked at to make sure it’s cross country ready. If you see this, thanks so much !!
Thank you for figuring this out! Literally the most annoying part of my van. I'm going to try it tomorrow Just FYI, the background music is distracting and a bit annoying while you're talking. Makes it hard to hear you. Otherwise my favorite video so far
The music really helps some of our early videos but Mike was editing our videos then. I need to learn how to use music better, keeping the video tempo up without drowning the dull talking. Thank you for the input. It is more than constructive, also inspirational letting me know people actually watch, listen & care. Merry Christmas!
@@FloridaVanMan it was only bothersome while you were talking. Maybe if it was muted or the volume was reduced when you're speaking it would be fine. And yes, your videos are so incredibly helpful and your viewers definitely care about the content. Owning a T1N is no walk in the park. So having some insight on how to deal with issues as they arise without having to run to the mechanic every time is incredibly appreciated. Also, where can we post suggestions for videos? Merry Christmas to you and your family as well!
Not normally. Perhaps the spring in the wiper arm has gone soft? A new arm would fix that but the bending shown in this video will point the blade better so it drags and stops bouncing. If it immediately starts bouncing while going the other direction, I'd suggest a new arm and I can find a good link for you.
I've replaced the wipers dozens of times and not solved this issue for more than a few weeks before it returns. My solution had been Rain-Ex on the glass so I use the wipers less.

Compliments to the person who designed the grey white van design to your right. I thought that chatter was just part of Sprinter ownership!

Great info. Mine are not pressing down enough so misses so much of window. I fix the bend, thx
I agree no music please! So many videos on UA-cam. have music that is just plain annoying and distracting.
What brand wipers are you using?
Rain-Ex skeleton type. I have a link, I think, at floridavanman.com/links/
This is a fresh link to the bigger one. I use a 24" & a 22"
Good idea & great quality vid as usual
Well done 👍

Love the music I preferred the music in the video.

William's Diesel in Ocala is the only place near you I can recommend.

Hi, my chatter is so bad seems like it wiper is bouncing on the windshield, just like a ball, can it caused by bad linkage system?

Almost worth me driving from BC to FL just to get you to do this to Frito. He's shown this annoying problem since new. WTF, Mercedes?
Mine too, 18 years I lived with this. No more, I say! No more! :)
New rubber!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
