Doors Don't Shut? Do You Need To Slam Them or Lift Them Up?

- Every now and then my doors get open too wide. A windy day, parked pointing down-hill or somebody just not paying attention swings the door all the way out a bit too hard. Over time the little push here and little push there makes the door sag. This is how I fix that.

Great hack! Just did it! Amazing!
Smashing bananas
Great tip! I guess you're going to have to re-decal the van now, your blue stripe doesn't match up anymore. 🤣
They didn't match up previously and nobody noticed until this video. I'm not regretting it but geez... Unexpected consequences are hard on me tonight!!! :)
8:35 at the barn doors on my 312D (Series I Sprinter - L3H2) I installed a second door catch near the top edge of the doors. The door would originally not close properly on the top (a 1/4 inch gap stayed even if the doors were shut very well)
It took some doing with a couple of bowden cables and a 3/16 th inch stainless steel welding rod but it works great...
Now the doors shut very well and have no gaps at all... Even a hose with sprayer aimed directly at the seals would not get me any water ingressing... Also any thiefs opting to go for the barn doors would find themselves in quite the predicament to get the two catches to open since the top one is over 7 feet off the ground...
Brilliant! My driver's door has exactly this problem. Thanks for a possible solution. I'll try it when I dig the van out in the spring. 8-)
I might need both done. Thanks
I'll bring my lever boards to the meetup next month if you will be there. Details here: floridavanman.com/winter_sprinter_2024/
Thanks so much. Currently having this problem. Your videos are always helpful!
Amazing.
I know what ill be doing tomorrow. thanks!
Ya stickers don’t line up now 🤣🤣🤣🤣
It isn't noticeable in day to day, but they didn't line up perfectly since new.
What are you using for door lubricant?
PB Blaster is my go-to lubricant. It lasts longer than WD-40 but there are many others just as good.
