I was into it during the Corky Romano era. I feel nothing from it anymore, but if it's paired with the music video then I'll take a moment to enjoy it.
I have Spotify playlist I've made for research that was "summer number 1 hits of the 90s".. and I would add only number 1s. I don't think they were public... but now when I hear songs I think ooooh this is a summer 92 hit!!
0:50 - I don't know what it was, but that song from Xanadu was just awesome in my eyes. You really feel like Olivia Newton John is some sort of angelic muse from another realm singing this especially to you.
This just brought me back to when I was between the ages of 9 through 14, and it was exactly what I needed today 😊 The idea of being able to go back in time sounds amazing, but at the same time I wouldn’t want to. Mainly because who wants to go back to their pre-teen days??
Good luck on the dark overlord copyright strike with the reposting! As a bass player, I forgot how good many of these musicians were even though the songs themselves were campy. Awesome video, thank you.
@@mysocalledgenxlife that's way too much work only to get whacked. It is sad that we can't even have nice things anymore 😢 I am surprised that Roger Waters didn't get his panties in a wad for "The Wall". Though it is well known that the Eagles are militant on strikes.
@@mysocalledgenxlifeYeah, I was wondering how you managed this. Do they allow it just a certain number of seconds per song? Thank you so much for putting this together. ❤ If you can stomach doing it again, I'd love to see it for other decades that you're interested in.
I had to cut two seconds from Like a Virgin, three seconds from Let’s Dance, and two seconds from Open Your Heart. Oh, and two seconds from Heaven is a place on Earth. Those copyright claims came after I posted the first video and made it through checks ok. 😊
i have most of these in my library. actually i went through the annual hot 100 from the beginning. anything i liked, i added to my library. any artist that made it into my library, i want farther into their discog and added what i liked, placed on a chart or not. i think i did the math once and came up to around a month of 8-hr weekdays to play through the entire library without any repeats. TAKE THAT classic rock stations bragging about no-repeat workdays.
@dhtsoadsdhtnadi9575 Ditto for me and then some! But what makes my collection more definitive to this list is that I have stuff from overseas The UK, Germany, Australia, so I have CD's by artists you've never heard of but deliver that warm crisp sound of the 80's which is not like anything else in mainstream music today! Have you heard of Stock Aitken and Waterman? The production team known as the British Motown! You may recall songs like Never Gonna Give You Up, and Venus by Bananarama but how about artists like Sonia, Big Fun, Sinitta, Jason Donovan, Brilliant, Spelt Like This, Romi And Jazz, Pepsi And Shirlie, Brother Beyond, O'Chi Brown, Hazell Dean, Cliff Richard, Kylie Minogue to name a few. Then you have other artists like Modern Talking, C.C. Catch and Sandra who were blowing up the European charts. Again most of these artists didn't make a dent on US soil. 💽🕺💃🧑🎤
@@mysocalledgenxlife 🧑🎤Michael Damian actually sang the original Saved By the Bell theme song! It's on the series soundtrack CD but when the show went into syndication the opening sequence with alternative scenes with the cast from seasons 1 and 2 NBC 🦚claims they lost the master tapes hence why syndication has the generic intro for all 4 seasons which feature another person singing the title song most are more familiar with.🏫📚🔔🛹
I remember every single song. Crazy! 1980-1989 I was ages 7-16…basically this is the soundtrack to my childhood. lol😂
My childhood in twenty minutes.
Take on Me is one of the only songs that is universally beloved. Even ppl that hate it still love it. Just about the perfect song
Agreed.

🎲Those retro 80's CD informercials in the early 90's come to mind!💽📺📼🕶
Someone needs to make this into a spotify Playlist.
It is! While I tried to share it, UA-cam deleted the link. I’m sorry. You can find it pretty easily using “Billboard,” “80s” and “number ones.”

So many great memories. Thanks for taking the time to compile this list and video.
This is my high school and college soundtrack!!😊

Wow, I forgot how many movie soundtracks were so popular during the 80’s. Loved it!
Thank you for this AMAZING flashback! WELL DONE!! ❤
Thanks for using the ballerina video for Got My Mind Set on You! That version hardly gets any love, and it was my favorite
Same! I always liked that one better.
@@mysocalledgenxlife Me too and not to mention it was recorded for the forgotten Madonna and Sean Penn movie Shanghai Surprise LOL! 👱♀🎥🎬📻
If The Mandalorian were filmed in 1985, Linda Fiorentino would have been great as Cara Dune.
Wow, wow, WOW! So many great songs and artists 🥰
And (unlike today's stuff), you can understand most of the words!😂

Absolutely perfect!
The 80s had such fantastic bangers.
Its crazy what a bad rap 80s music gets.. i love it and i am not ashamed lol
awesome video . makes me happy and sad . I want to go back !
Like a post on the last one I can remember one of these songs, and when I was doing with every one of them when they came out on the radio
Thanks for commenting again! I appreciate it. It’s amazing how many of these I remembered. There were only three or four that I’d never heard before!
Eurythimcs Sweet Dreams was added to the Library of Congress National Recording Registry in 2023
I remember most of these being on MTV,except for the yacht rock, but two songs I truly despise are Ebony and Ivory, and Islands in the Stream.
Good luck on the dark overlord copyright strike with the reposting!

Awesome video, thank you.
It took me about 15 edits to get it past copyright. And then when I posted, I got hit again. This is why I don’t mess with music!! 😊

Music needs to lighten up. People hear and people might buy it. Free advertising!

Odd. Last one was longer. Not sure what happened, but the music was great!

The Number 1 song on the day I was born was “Together Forever” by Rick Astley. That works for me!
Toto's Africa was covered by Weezer in 2018
The 80s really was the best decade for music. For fashion.... not so much.😂
What are you talking about? Have you forgotten the awesomeness that was PARACHUTE PANTS?! THEY WERE ... AWESOME

Rick Roll has become popular again
This was one of my most elaborate Rick Rolls yet! 😊
Britney Spears also did the song My Prerogative
Why do I sometimes think that "She's got the look" is sang by Savage Garden? 😂 I know better, but seriously identical vocal tones
That god awful Michael Damian remake of that god awful David Essex song is the worst #1 of the 1980's.
😂😂😂😂
