Yeah I was watching the video thinking, “I get why this guy is an awesome high-end car salesman. If I was a super-rich guy looking to buy a bananas exotic car his stories and knowledge would make it a must-do at least once.” BTW Ed, you’re welcome to send me a kudos check if my comment makes you a bunch of extra money 😏
I respect his record and would love to give it a try one day, but I can see why people don't like the video. The supporters who like the video make compliments about how good the interview is, or how well Ed answers questions, but they are missing something: its canned. Of course Ed can tell this story well, not only did he live it, he wrote a book about it, which he is promoting. Making a speech after writing a book is easy - the work is done. He probably even emailed vortex some approved questions ahead of the interview. It's obvious he's been outmarketing it. Ed is speaking from a decorated automotive "studio" that is properly lit and and staged, so he looks professional from the start (while the Vortex guy looks like he is using his phone's camera in a cubicle). He's tired of the way all of the geek "journalists" go rambling on in these interviews, but his smug smile says that the mountain of coke in the other room is feeling really good right now and he can just keep smiling and talking on autopilot.
djsjjd15 Maybe he's smiling while interviewing because they know each other and he designed the countermeasures for the Ed's record Canonball Run. He's talking about this in the same fancy studion in one of the videos in VinWiki UA-cam channel.
He have to outrun American Express fraud prevention algorism. They correctly figure out that there's no plane in between the two gas station where he gassed up, and he have to convinced them that the card will not be out of his possession in the next 72 hours.
Ed's a good guy. I was on MB forums with him. He planned well, picked a great car and stuck to his drive!! Well spoken, professional and just a nice guy. CL55 AMG was also a perfect weapon of choice for this run. Great video A, so happy you did this one! I think the wheels behind him to his left shoulder are from the record setting CL55.
Can't imagine I just watched a 40mins videos and felt like a 15mins video lol. Thanks Vortex and Ed for the interesting video, so much information learned.
Definitely enjoyed this interview. I've noticed Ed getting a lot more exposure lately online and his VinWiki channel has probably tripled in subscribers in the last month. Lots of great car stories on that channel.
The extent of both these guys language and vernacular could make me listen to them for days. The way Ed expresses himself was quite well, has goodand, maneurisms and you can tell he is well educated.
Thank Mr. Bolian for the wet nose hairs.. Laughed up my morning coffee at the statement , 'they weren't scared enough of what could have happened to us'. Thank You. Gotta run hit the buy button on my amazon cart with your book in it.. Peace.
I have to say the Pan American one is definitely interesting. I used to live in Gatun Panama and we managed to make the drive from there to Seattle in 13 days. I have made that trip quite a few times in both directions. In a 32 foot Pace Arrow RV once and once in a 70s Monte Carlo and once in a 1971 Land Rover that I still own although it took much longer in the Land Rover. Currently in needs a frame the Panamanian climate was not kind and Seattle wasn't either.
I’m really interested on Ed’s thoughts of Alex Roy claiming because Bolian & Black didn’t video the whole thing that he’s hesitant to acknowledge the legitimacy of their run. Obviously, they’re on good terms given the Memorial run and word has it that Roy was shown some classified evidence of the time.
Hi,how do you know when using an Ambulance/firefighter stop light changer, that an actual Ambulance/Firefighter on their way to an emergency hasn't used the same device on that particular intersection?
Still don't understand why Trapster was killed off, it was really effective and ran in the background multitasked with navigation on my iPad. At least there's Escort Live for legacy speed trap awareness. Glad I stumbled upon this little gem of a VR video.
I once made it from Kissimmee, Florida to my driveway in Toledo, Ohio in exactly 15 hours for an average speed of 93 mph without stopping and I stopped twice for gas... so I averaged well over 100mph the whole way and it would've been faster but I laid my foot on the floor after every fuel stop and didn't lift until I needed fuel again and my little V6 S-10 wouldn't go any faster😀
Pretty sure he was using the Laser Interceptors and the Escort ZR4 laser jammers which came with his 9500ci he was running. But hey its not my car I am just going off the pictures I have seen of his car
I wish they would run the cannonball through Virginia. Tickets for anything from a radar detector to possible jail time for 80 mph or 20 over the speedlimit. It would be the perfect FU to Virginia's traffic laws when the laser jammers blank out for the troopers as you toodle on by. :)
This has nothing to do with the video but just wanted to say that the new update for the Max 360 is crazy good, I did 4 hour long round trip on interstate and it didn't go off once to the cars it normally went off to. it usually alerts to the new Buick, Chevy Malibu, Acura, and New Honda CRV, I encounter almost all of this vehicles and it didn't go off once so I say it the update is extremely good.
pan-american highway looks doable, at leas the Argentina leg it's deserted in the Patagonias and pampa's region, speed cameras are in silly places from 120km/h to 60 km/h on tiny towns (and i doubt how the're able to handle foreign plates), police officers don't catch speeders (they can't because they use to accept bribes), and there's not the pursuit culture that exist in usa, Traffic's control personnel are even in replace to get more bribe, just say "no hablo español" while handling $100 dollar bills with documents in pretty much all of latin america and you're fine.
SO I'M WONDERING IN OR AROUND 2013.. OF ALL THIS DID ED KNOW OF OR SEE THE TV SHOW OR THE MOVIES OF CANNONBALL RUN......... BEFORE OR EVEN AFTER HIS FASTER RUN..........???? ...& DID ANY ONE HONESTLY REALLY FILM IT ALL LEAVING NOTHING OUT......?? & IS IT OUT ON MOVIE OR DVD OR ANYTHING NOW BEING SEPT,. 2018........
A cpl times a yr I drive SD to SAV and back to visit family. normal car 13gal tank 4cyl loaded with luggage and the ~2500miles takes ~22hrs. fastest was 16hrs and included having to replace rear tire on my bike enroute. All this fancy stuff and all I have is a radar detector and not hitting rush hrs in PHX,EP,Dal,Shr,etc.. Having made the trip since spd limit was 55/45night across TX speed limits clearly never been a factor but car only cruises along at 130ish so nothing special. Wheres my check??
I did 2650 miles last month in 29 hours. I used a V1, WAZE - I wish I had a CB Radio on the trip, I hit a dead deer and had to stop at a car wash, I did it in 8 gas stops. Also, I could have done better, but I was hovering around 140mph in a few spots... and the one time I was going slow with a cop behind me is when I hit the deer... .lol I posted the dashcam video
I did this in a Grabber Blue 2017 Mustang GT that is 1 month old at the time, now it is near 2.5 months old and it has 8500 miles on it lol - I never got hit with a laser. what states use Laser?
I did the math and even with the 1 hour-ish delay I averaged 87mph, so if I didn't hit the deer maybe I beat you, only way I know is Google Maps logged my GPS locations - I may have beaten you if I did not hit the deer.
Can u imagine even being part of a family where you csn imagine doing this? Most of us have to 'go dark' to just drive an E class merc/ Range V6...its a world i wish I'd been a part of cos I'd certainly have tried it. If you've had to drive 'one of those journeys' for dough, cannonball punishment seems smallfry so i kinda find this outlaw bullshit annoying...
I don’t have the funds currently. I’m 21, it’s a dream that I intend to make a reality. If we can make it happen as a team, awesome, however I currently am without a car and saving for something cheap. If we don’t drive together, I wish the best to you but I hope you’re not too much faster so I still have a chance one day ;). Cheers
DOES ED STILL HAVE THE CANNONBALL RUN CAR... & EVERYTHING STILL IN IT STILL WORKING OR WHAT... THAT WOULD HONESTLY SHOW HISTORY IN REAL TIME..............
He used the same camera setup and location for this interview that he uses for his VinWiki videos, yes. He lives in GA and I live in WA so it was easier to do this interview over Skype than in person. I wish we coulda done it in person instead. :)
blindmonkey9999 impersonating police can be a felony. Plus a crown Vic has a top speed of around 120mph with a lightbar, so cruising at 100 the engine will be working too hard and using a lot of fuel
I can understand how it looks that way. Heck even the audio is a little wonky when I had to lower his audio volume while I was speaking so that my voice wouldn't be doubled up going into his mic, but we actually did have a chance to talk together. It woulda been better to do it in person, but we live in opposite ends of the country. He was looking at his computer on Skype and used his main camera he uses for his main channel for the recording and sent me that video afterwards which I edited with my own camera's recording and spliced the two together. I get that it looks a little weird.. not to mention his setup looks way better than mine. :D Thank you for the comment!
lol knock yourself out. You won't find it, though he's talked about much of this stuff before. Anyway, there's no sense in arguing with you. Feel free to believe me or not. :) Cheers!
This guy is so good at speaking he could probably read a differential equations textbook and I'd still find it interesting
haha
Yeah I was watching the video thinking, “I get why this guy is an awesome high-end car salesman. If I was a super-rich guy looking to buy a bananas exotic car his stories and knowledge would make it a must-do at least once.”
BTW Ed, you’re welcome to send me a kudos check if my comment makes you a bunch of extra money 😏
The only people who disliked this video are the cops that Ed snuck by on his Cannonball run.

1 of them was the guy that crashed into him and who's insurance paid $11k too much. :D
I could listen to Ed talk about this stuff for days.
I drove from Los Angeles to Houston in 22 hours 10 minutes... going balls out. To do what he did in 28 is crazy.
He have to outrun American Express fraud prevention algorism. They correctly figure out that there's no plane in between the two gas station where he gassed up, and he have to convinced them that the card will not be out of his possession in the next 72 hours.
thats the suggested google maps travel time haha

Ed's vocabulary is so good
A R Yeah.... White male with a decent education. Hard to imagine right?
@@BCaldwell Anyway you slice it Ed is the picture of white privilege. Hard to believe growing up white endows one with an exceptional vocabulary.
Hard to believe he brings up race on a comment about vocabulary
Can't imagine I just watched a 40mins videos and felt like a 15mins video lol. Thanks Vortex and Ed for the interesting video, so much information learned.
lol great! Glad to hear it felt quick. :)
Definitely enjoyed this interview. I've noticed Ed getting a lot more exposure lately online and his VinWiki channel has probably tripled in subscribers in the last month. Lots of great car stories on that channel.
Great piece of journalism!
Great interview I loved his countermeasure set up
Great interview
Wait, so is the jack to Ed's left the same one in the trunk of the CL55? Nice. Great attention to detail.
Enjoyed the interview and saved some kindle books to check out related to Ed and the Yates book mentioned.
Great interview. Hope to see more in the future
I now have a new personal hero! I absolutely loved this video interview...Need mor interviews like this.
Fantastic interview VTX, really great info in this interview. Thanks to both you guys for doing this.
The extent of both these guys language and vernacular could make me listen to them for days. The way Ed expresses himself was quite well, has goodand, maneurisms and you can tell he is well educated.
One day I gotta meet this ed guy and watch all the video footage and all. This drive is crazy and inspiring
The silver tongued master of shrewdness himself! Love the VinWiki channel! I wish I could speak nearly as eloquently as Mr Bolian.
+1!
State Police departments are disliking this video
lol
Great interview. Makes want to watch a Cannonball movie.
Great video thanks for posting
Heyy Vortex !Hope you well :) Great vid and thanks for making it happen something diffrent.. Love from New Zealand
Traffic light changer ? What ?
Literally my two favorite people annnnd i just found this video
They must have had a boat load of spotters waiting up ahead.
Ed if you ever need a codriver I will gladly fly to new york for the start!
Ed you need a podcast
Hahaha he said we have to reconcile that in our own way 😂😂 he doesn't give a single shit
This was awesome!
Thank Mr. Bolian for the wet nose hairs.. Laughed up my morning coffee at the statement , 'they weren't scared enough of what could have happened to us'. Thank You. Gotta run hit the buy button on my amazon cart with your book in it.. Peace.
Those pit stains in the beginning lol
The Daves did without GPS. But mad respect for you... Imagine flying in a XJS in 1979 ....

Guy speaks well. Hopefully more content
Ohio has the traffic flow sensors. That's what I encountered in my cross country run. Very annoying and tricky to deal with. Great vid.
What's in the last chapter of the book he mentioned?
what a great interview Ed!!!!!;D
Awesome interview.

Ian Ward chances and odds yoc life
When he mentionned using the CB, anyone knows what channel is best? There didn’t seem to be a lot of chatter on my last long-distance trip
Channel 19 is what all the trucks use

Jeremy Smith it does if you remove the transmission speed sensor. Lol at least on the manuals.
I once made it from my house in NJ with a mazda 323, to knoxville tn in 8 hours and 29 minutes. One fuel stop, same driving strategy as yours!
Ok soooo where do I get an ambulance traffic light changer
Pretty sure he was using the Laser Interceptors and the Escort ZR4 laser jammers which came with his 9500ci he was running. But hey its not my car I am just going off the pictures I have seen of his car
You understand the counter measures he was speaking about ???
Couple fellow GA Tech guys!
What's the good word!?
To hell with Georgia!
+Vincent Wilkes What’s the good word!?
7:45 because extics are a cop magnet #1 it's hard to speed in them. honda accord would be a better option.
Thank you both!

Agreed! I just took it out for its first spin and was super impressed with it filtering out Acuras while my Stinger was going off.
Clever V1 advert.
Another Great video! Peace,Health ,Wealth and Happiness
Thank you! 😄🙏
Wtf
Where do I get a laser interceptor?
They don’t sell them anymore. That’s an old jammer at this point. www.vortexradar.com/2017/10/best-laser-jammer-reviews/

Didn't pay attention in ayn of his high school classes, and still got into Georgia Tech?
Statue of limitations is only 1 year? very nice.
Trouble with WAZE I found was I outran it... I used a V1 and a CB... that's it
Binoculars? I bet they had image stabilization .
Don't confuse legality with morality.
Who said it was legal
I believe Ed addressed that at the beginning of the video. Try to keep up.
I commented about a top ten tips for canonball running. Then i clicked on this video
VORTEX TOLD ME YOU CAN ONLY RUN ONE DETECTOR AT A TIME?
how would they prove who was piloting the car at any given moment?? Id tell right away... either way good job man
In the beginning ed was regretting all of his life choices.
A cpl times a yr I drive SD to SAV and back to visit family. normal car 13gal tank 4cyl loaded with luggage and the ~2500miles takes ~22hrs. fastest was 16hrs and included having to replace rear tire on my bike enroute. When your ready to get serious let me know. I'm in 100%
Also now days you have the false signals from Honda and Cadillac accident avoidance systems....
Ferrari gtc4 or porsche panamera would be amazing for this, ferrari 812 would probably also do good!
Gustav Lundeberg problem is they're too flashy and attract attention
Valentine One baby!
Can u imagine even being part of a family where you csn imagine doing this?

I’m gonna do it. One day.
I'm ready, what are you putting in, when do we leave ? and what do you want to drive ??? Hit me back, I'm serious about running it :)
I don’t have the funds currently. I’m 21, it’s a dream that I intend to make a reality. My email is 5dennis5@gmail.com. When you get serious, hit me and we'll meet and get something going.
Holy shit he did this in 13? Wow.
Smokey and the Bandit
DOES ED STILL HAVE THE CANNONBALL RUN CAR... & EVERYTHING STILL IN IT STILL WORKING OR WHAT... THAT WOULD HONESTLY SHOW HISTORY IN REAL TIME..............
Tavarish made a video with him about it

What if you gotta shit.?
This kguy didn't think a v12 lambo might stick out
what are penalties for impersonating police? buy an old crown vic, add bolt ons and a siren LOL
blindmonkey9999 impersonating police can be a felony.
Plus a crown Vic has a top speed of around 120mph with a lightbar, so cruising at 100 the engine will be working too hard and using a lot of fuel
Andre Chiesa Impersonating a LEO is a felony.
Funny now in 2020 the record is like 26 hours done in an audi disguised as a ford taurus police car lol so theres your answer it worked
put some comfy ass leather seats in a aventador and mod it and do this run in 20 hours
lol
You're funny. It's because you're serious.
He's so lucky he didn't hit a live deer with the cl
I just wanna know why he says murcielago like that lmaooo
X-otic because he actually knows how to pronounce it properly unlike 99% of people myself included.
He was the sales manager for Lamborghini Atlanta while they still supplied the Murci so he knows a fair bit about them, not just the pronunciation.
Thats how its pronounced.
you would think if you"d take a cts v sedan you could break his record...
Ed Bolian doesn't study in high school but gets into Georgia Tech... hmm....
Our Lady of Blessed Acceleration Don't Fail Me Now !!! In a POS Mercedes,.....WTF
Great video vortex. But I could tell it was probably your first and pretty awkward for you.
0:45 why you so sweaty my dude, use antiperspirant not deodorant.
cannonball run, another american ideal programmed into their conscience from a comical movie on an even that never happened.
this is a rip off...
huh? He's not selling you anything.
Vortex Radar this is a vin wiki video that he basicaly basicaly cut up and tryed to make it look like he interviewed ed.
Vortex Radar dude. stop trying to get outa that ive seen this on yt. on vin wiki. ill find what episode
lol knock yourself out. You won't find it, though he's talked about much of this stuff before. Anyway, there's no sense in arguing with you. Feel free to believe me or not. :) Cheers!
