- here is where i am at, and an explanation of where i want to be, plans, ideas, integration, why, and when you would want to do this, functionality and splitting sensors theory, working solutions after its running.
The advice at the end is the best advice ever. Get it running on motor first then start upgrading. You try to do it all at once and you’ll get overwhelmed.
I soo hope this truck sticks around longer than most!
Nice to see some of the tricks of mind melding the two 'puters
I have learned so much on this channel love it.
Splitting that crank and cam signal wire is exactly what I’m waiting to learn about.....many thanks, I will be doing my best to copy what you do with it.
one of the many things I love from your videos is the theory behind your plans as you go, nothings hidden, no secrets just plain honest and informative, the best UA-cam channel by a mile!
I have watched this video like 14 times. My turbo 2500 is basically finished. Looking to integrate stock pcm using the terminator x. So much good info. I wish finished product info were somewhere I could reference! I guess cut out everything the Holley runs and see what’s left! Thanks for pioneering!
I'm at that point where i'm trying to too much at once on my Dakota LS Swap. That is really good advice, get it running first, worry about boost, add on's later. Was good reality check and reminder for me to to prioritize and finish one thing at at time. Kudos!
I love the smart builds and using quality stuff , I hated the cheapest way to do stuff of before that some stuff would never last long term , Matt you’ve taught me loads and proved you don’t need to spend NRE money either , great job sir . I’m still a blow through BBC guy but I love watching smart guys do builds .
"Don't get it right, just get it running." - David Frieburger
100%
.... the moment you realize that Sloppy Mechanics is no longer sloppy.. LOL Nice build Matt !
Moar frequent videos on this plz, it's pretty interesting.
Great video Matt. I did the same thing with my Silverado months ago and found out the hard way that if you get rid of the stock ecu shit don't work right. LoL was chasing a power drain for weeks cuz the stupid day time running lights also go thru the ECU and it was making a relay stay closed and draining the battery. I unpinned a 4.3 ecu harness and used that computer too start truck and get the electrical to work with also running the Holley Terminator x max. Keep up the great work.
Probably no one will rewatch this episode more than I... so helpful , right now I’m struggling with the red and white switched 12volt Holley wire, I know what it’s for however I am not sure if it needs a relay or just go straight to the pink wire on the back of the ignition barrel or find another clean source at the fuse box or something I’m certainly overthinking it.
On a Silverado?
Sloppy Mechanics oh sorry no on a Holden commodore , it has serial data setup similar to your truck so not canbus. The instructions Holley sent with the kit, say the loose red n white wire needs to go to clean 12v switched power source and needs to be live while cranking. I think this has me overthinking it, I have searched online and for videos of someone doing this, I think the closest I got was an adapter fuse into a live 12v source from a factory fuse box while the key is in the on position? I have swapped a 5.3 truck motor in the car, not that that makes much difference.
I think I am going to get a piggy back fuse holder, use my multi meter to find a fuse in the fuse box that is 12v with the key in the on position, ground the black wire that pops out of the loom with the red and white wire and hope for the best. Sorry for sounding all this basic stuff off you dude, I should really just back myself and give it a go.
Great info. Makes sense all around to keep stock functions in the truck. 03-07 gm full size trucks and SUV's are my favorite workhorses, They just need more power
Great Matt! I truly appreciate the figure out as you go advice and mentality. There are to many UA-camrs that that to instill fear that the average Joe cannot do this. You the Man!
I am thrilled. I am in the middle doing an almost identical build. 04 Tahoe running both factory ecm and term. Max
Ain’t sloppy no more! Pretty sick setup!
I'm not sure if you misspoke, but you can split vr signals. Running vr crank signal split on megasquirt and stock ecu up to 12k rpm
awesome, someone else said the same i appreciate it, i heard you cant do that, so glad you guys are chiming in!
Love the integrated stuff. Glad you didn't drill out the SES light on this one...LOL
that was a fantastic video!
there is still time
Ha ha, no doubt
I disagree on the ability to split VR signals. I've been running a 5.4 F150 with a stock ecu and a speeduino in parallel for several months. Crank signal on a modular ford is VR and I have had zero issues sharing it between the two. Love this build for the thoroughness of integrating everything.
thank you, ill try it!
Awesome man . Coming along good . The vss will split doing it on mine now.
Awesome to hear someone else said the same
I like this not so sloppy sloppy builds of late. Really cool stuff! ✌
before I ramble...…...lmao about the 13 min mark I took a look to see how long this rambeltron was ! Good stuff man !
I've split a VSS right at the ECU a couple times and had no issues.
Great video cant wait to see more of the integration
Hope you get your first play button soon
me too!
This video came out right on time.
Wow.... wish you made a plug and play harness. .. your really good .. your using to many big words for me to understand. .. lol... keep up the good content. .. I'm going to buy a thesaurus so I can keep up ...lol
If the holley deal falls through I'd love to see another Gold Box car for the Mustang.
I wish I had this knowledge about 4 months ago when I was finishing up my turbo truck. Hp tuners kicks my ass. Would love to just let Holley run the motor
Obviously you are the king but just to let you know I have two trucks swapped gmt400 series where I split the vss. One with the factory ecm (first swap) second one without factory ecm both 0411 pcm driven. Your Hall effect on the 4l60e or 4l80e will absolutely work with both. I did it nice and dirty with some china crimps and have been goin strong for 4 years
sick thank you!
oh damn, I didnt know this was a 2500. thats gonna be an awesome truck
Truck yeah! Another trucking update!! About trucking time!!!
Could the motor be run well enough with HP tuners?
Ive been trying to a lot of research on how to do this to my 2006 trailblazer ss. Being in MD I need to pass emissions.
Yep, every PQY I've used Needed almost a full turn to be tight but work great.
Wonder if that 2500 intercooler fits the 1500 core support .
And you probably know this, but Those stock intake manifold bolts are TTY. Probably more important than head bolts, bc of how weak they are. I’ve reused them. But I put a small dab of blue locktite on the threads on cammed motors.
I’m not sure what year truck that is. Or better yet, what year OS is flashed to that pcm, but if you’re having issues with the fans cycling or not running long enough with the AC compressor engaged, while the AC is running(which is likely on a truck OS w/ e fans), you need to add a resistor to one of the pins to simulate what the Camaro pressure sensor/switch does. The trucks don’t have the same sensor, so the fans will cycle like the compressor, no matter what fan on/off settings you have flashed on the tune.
I've be interested in doing this exact same integration. It would be amazing if you did a complete how to guide on how to do it.
Bout time... just kidding. Thank you for all the info Matt.
I have been waiting for this!
Yes please show us how to use the holly and stock ecu to keep dash and all working.
I havnt went holly on my 01 Silverado because I want my dash and everything working
Sounds like Holley needs to work on plug 'n play
Terminator swap sounded scary for me on my truck 05 1500 Silverado, and or a truck like yours until today.
I hope you list what sensors you can T off of and which ones you have to run on their own. I want to do this on my GTO one day.
That RAMBLEtron was not long enough. Keep it sloppy 👌
try a 87 grand national vacuum block theres a nice aftermarket one that was 3 or 4 ports on each side and its the same aluminum color of your intake
Wire over jobs just make a car nicer. Ive done a lot of them. Keeps everything working. For a daily type car its a must. Also frees up inputs and outputs on a basic aftermarket ecu using the factory ecu. Especially good if the aftermarket Ecu is limited.
What If someone didn’t need any of the functionality stuff from stock ecu Bc they had the 7” dash, and only needed the stock ecu to pass an obd2 emissions test. In theory, they could give the ecu nothing but all its powers and grounds and share the signal wire from Holley harness crank sensor? And play with hpt to delete codes and be good?
yes it would be a use case scenario but yes.
Thank you for all your knowledge
Any update on the stock pedal working with the ls2 style TB harness
I live in NY if i could pass my obd2 plug in inspection i would build this exact truck.
So what you’re saying is, anyone with VERY minimal experience with a carburetor and a distributor will have NO problem using the Terminator X platform. Great.
How do you do the cluster sweep at key-on? Is that just normal for a late-GMT800 cluster?
I need to research the vss for t56 . Lol I have watched this video x3 now.....I’m like a sponge with this.
Other commenters have said I can split vss no problem so I’ll try
Sloppy Mechanics yeah , from what I have read so far anything 5volt should be ok but not pwm and I’m not sure about cruise control either, I have not seen anyone mention it yet.
wait so I could run a terminator integrated with my stock ecu and still pass a OBD2 emissions test?
Want to try to get most of my vs kit installed this weekend but wanted to ask you about my turb drain line, since i need and oil change anyway, would you recommend drilling and tapping with oil still full in the pan or should i drain it first then start drilling and collect shavings either with a magnet or shopvac? Thanks for your imput
Yeah 90% of the time I drill and tap pan while it’s in and on car
Really good stuff!
Just me but fuel spraying at some random time under the hood just doesn’t sit well w me. Ive only cheaped out on fuel system parts once. And I was a nervous wreck... lol. Redid everything w big name parts and followed instructions to w T lol
Wiring diagram for the pedal and tb is on holley website under the full manual download. But its awful to read
Awesome
do you plan to go over in a future video how you will integrate traction control via the DBW?
Good question, I want to do that with my blower motor, not sure if the turbo would loose spool with the throttle closed, that may be why they use ignition timing instead
great job. 1000cc injector is enough for 950hp on crank?
Would you run a Terminator on a 99 LS1 Firebird or just stick with the stock ECU and use HPT?
Second question. Same car with a 5.3 boneyard swap, go terminator or use stock LS1 ECU in the car?
I just tuned a ls1 99 firebird with a terminator and stock ecu together didn’t upload video but tuned Sunday
Are you going to test the Heatsink coils vs the square coils packs?
Would this be possible in an 04 s10? I don’t see why it wouldn’t. Just wondering your thoughts on it.
She’s gonna be a ripper
How close is the holly terminator power wise compared to a custom dyno tune
Do you think the fuel hat has the restriction in the outlet/supply like the Colorado did?
these trucks usually go pretty far, already contemplating a 10 feed doe
Is there a ebay link, Facebook or ig link for the snake eater injectors
Its impossible to have your cake and eat it too!
But there's nothing to stop you going and getting more cake.
Excellent work.
A guy could spend months figuring out this and that, 6 wire this, flip the wires here heh. This works, this is unnecessary... very nice.
Man you are smart!
Would like to ask, does the stock ecu receive any throttle or pedal input anymore?
None
Is the "divided turbo" just a "twin scroll" or is it something different. Thanks for sharing your experience.
anti chuckle yes twin scroll
You have to switch the white wire with black stripe with the dark brown wire I have a GEN four motor and 6l80 Transmission none of my gauges work My truck is a 2000 are use the Cadillac CTS paddle that’s the same one they use in the right plug and play crate motor
And is the same for the truck paddle as well that’s the one that’s in my truck and the truck panel I have the CT is V paddle in my 66 Chevy nova
Why didn’t u run ur alt harness also? I havnt bought mine yet but in ur pics it looks like its plug and play. Or is it not
I was wondering that also
i said in the video why use it when the stock ecu controls the alt and is already wired, its about sharing things not taking over things for no reason, this would be the same as, why not re wire the fuel pump relay and power wires, because they are already installed and functioning
On a c6 could you have the stock ecu run the throttle body to be able to keep cruise control?
Yes
Going through the regulator first may be a flow restriction vs going through the rails first then regulating on the return side. We shall see what the China boy reg will do !
for sure, its not as good but it goes pretty far!
Will you be posting build info online like previous builds? I've got the exact same project in progress and have been curious about piggybacking ecm's like this for state inspections.
Yes once ironed out it’ll go into wiki summary
👍👍👍👍
Could I integrate a Holley into a 5th gen Camaro while keeping all the amenities?
Yes same way I am doing this for the most part did you listen to what I said lol
Apparently I didn’t listen close enough lol thanks man.
Hey Matt whats going on with Glens G8, has he done anything else to it or blown it up, we need an update
Still alive he’s thinking of trading for a truck
@@SloppyMechanics o that awesome maybe we can see a build of whatever he gets next
I need to do this to my GTO!!!
@sloppymechanics I can't wait to see how you share the 1_to_5 v sensor signals
hard to build high horse power cars in NY and get them to pass inspection
Your knowledge of the electronics on these things is insane. Have you seen jeffescortlx repair/rebuild these gauges? He does incredible work.
The more you do the more you learn.
hey! your 4 haters followed you into the new year... ONe more thing, you can turn of the SES with HP tuners and the trouble codes, but I do not know of a way yet to tell a scanner the emissions tests has been completed...thats the only issue i see. Though any computer can be programmed by someone smart enough
what year did they go to a 52 tooth wheel? I thought it was a 24 tooth to 2006 i love lt1 swap.com so much info for free
Gen4 starts sooner in cars then trickles later into trucks, some ls2 has 24x but front read cam then around 05-06 vette has ls3 I think? Then 07/08 trucks started getting 58x can bus gen4 also then heavy duty stuff after that
Do u know if a gen 4 computer is better than a gen 2/3 computer for tuning?
It Varys, some of the os’s are friendly and some are not, either way no stock corvette ecu has closed loop wideband and integrated data logging and boost controller by mph/gear etc
So if I didn’t care about gauges and just wanted the BCM to turn on to control the acc. And control ac and heat. I’d just have to give it crank signal engine temp and fan control.
That’s my plan
Sloppy Mechanics now that’s my plan too. 2005 gto
No thumbnail roulette aye? Lol.
Why not use trick turbo divided t6 log manifold?
my friend hand builds manfolds and offered, i searched but was unable to find a true divided Trick setup, can you link me.
Here ya go

Is this a s485/102 ?
This is a 80/102
Dude, too much information for us noobs to keep up. Seriously a lot of great information if you plan on modding anything new. Matt, if your doing this to post killer info, then take a few breaths. Some of us have been following you when you made your first truck, before you were married, and could take breaths between sentences.
what throttle body?
snake eater performance 102mm DBW
What turbo is this?
vs racing billet 80.102
What does that baby weigh again?
5050
@@SloppyMechanics Wow that's only about 500 more than the Challenger Red Eyes.
👍
How do you turn off the security in the bcm?
luke collins you can turn it off in the ecu
HEEEEEELLLL YEAH
