My straight Dad knitted a tiny sweater for my hairless rat one time. He also builds things from scratch, fixed my broken bed once, and routinely cooks elaborate meals.
The real test of manliness is to what extent you're willing to go to in order to get things done.

In some eastern European countries, traditionally blue was for girls and pink for boys. This I discovered in the 1990s. And little boys in baby-onesie bunny ears was fine. These are countries where boys and men are generally not at all “confused”, in fact confident enough about their own masculinity to not bother thinking about it much.

Even in UK too, and probably in the US. Pink, being a type of red, was considered a stronger colour. There was one self-styled arbiter of fashion or child-care, not sure which, who said over a hundred years ago that it should be blue-boy pink-girl and everyone changed. In other words, it's all just social conditioning. In other words, it's all just a load of rubbish.

@@Bazroshan In my 60s. When I was a child, children’s bicycles, shorts, jeans, teeshirts, sweaters and other casual clothes & shoes, schoolbags, sports bags, suitcases, most toys that didn’t represent humans - these were only gendered by fit if they were gendered at all, not much by colours. In that mire sexist era, kids things definiteky weren’t gendered by overdone sparkly and frilly decorations and infantilised imagery for girls or laughably aggressive / militaristic / hypermasculine imagery for boys. We had much more freedom for our PERSONAL tastes. One look at the fantastic decoration on the clothes of Japanese warriors - romantic painted nature scenes, flower prints, beautiful colorways - or, for that matter the fancy shirts and multicolored accessories of 18-19th century native American men - tells you that an appreciation for beauty and design is not at odds with being a man.

A gentle bit of lighthearted flirting with a man is not necessarily gay for straight guys in the UK - though it usually happens between people who already know each other pretty well, or who work in an industry that has historically been comfortable with gay people (entertainment, the navy, airlines, travel agencies etc). Much the same as it would be between a man and a woman who are old friends.
Americans only seem to do flirting as sexual come-on. In many countries it’s fun, it’s another whole mode or channel, part of many “joking relationships” as anthropologists call it.

@@eh1702 I'd just add to this that online it seems like all bets are off, I've seen some absolutely outrageous flirting and provocation between straight male internet friends 😂 Maybe it's the physical distance that makes it feel 'safe'. It's safe to say anyone who calls anything "gay" beyond a genuine gay club or cruise is just very insecure and so deep in the closet that by the time they finally come out every piece of clothing will be considered vintage and exceptionally stylish!

    • @MsFreshadenu
      @MsFreshadenu 18 днів тому

This is the new fun line to shame anyone who uses the word gay to not want to be considered insecure and in the closet but it's the same as the term "lame". It's just used so often that it doesn't really mean gay to that person. So no, it's not really safe to say that using the term gay means you're in the closet. It just means you come from a culture that uses a term so flippantly, like New York and dropping the f-bomb, that you don't even realize its offensive.

I once was told that I "dressed gay" for wearing a blue polo shirt, black slacks, and black casual shoes. Funny, that usually gets me confused with a Best Buy employee. Note: This was said to me by a woman I met via online dating who severely misrepresented herself inside and out, also was an unkempt slob, and seemed to think that being neatly dressed was a sign of being gay - that and not being interested in having a second date with her.

As a gay man I can say we really despise the stereotypes cause they're only true for a few of the entire community, and so many things listed in this video a ton of straight men have done them a lot more than I ever did my whole life. I'd say these things/rules/or whatever you wanna call it are made by people who are just insecure and judgmental or maybe just have issues. They're all ridiculous and a lot of them should be normal things that humans do that shouldn't be reserved to a specific gender. Being real should not equal "gay".
I've learned also that the most masculine looking man can be gay and the most effeminate man can be straight. There is no one version of a person to what gay means except that it's simply same sex people who are attracted to each other no matter how they look/act/etc.

One time, I was at work listening to music on my lunch break and all was fine until I played 'Haddaway - What Is Love' and co-workers that were talking with each other came up to me and said that this song is what gay people listen to. I stared at them stunned with what they just told me. I did not stop playing the song either.

It was from my dad, he said its holding hands with another man/male that isn't your son/brother/father/blood relative. But what if its pitch dark in a room or outside and I can't see (i have bad eyesight as is ) and then I need to hold a battle buddies hand? Screw it I'm trying to get to safety.
Wearing skinny jeans, or slim fit. I haven't worn jeans in over 3 years since I wear my work pants to work 5 days a week and did my errands before/after work and managed it that way. Now I wear cargo pants and shorts all the time when out since its more comfy.
From some guy at a surplus store: I was buying MREs and he said "this stuff will put hair on your chest" and I said "That's the Irony, I shave my chest and body" I do it cause it gets itchy even in the private areas and then it looks more clean.
I used to think that some men don't grow body hair like when I am at the beach or pool there are other grown men in their 30s and they don't have chest hair on themselves but it never occurred to me that men are allowed to shave their body hair just as they do with their face and heads. Then there are those olympic swimmers who shave it all off cause hair creates drag and slows down in swimming and water polo.
Cooking and sewing, but in Boy scouts we needed to learn those 2 things. Sewing was for the uniform patches.
That's all I can think of.

Ahaha this just reminded me of the time me and my friend (both male, both straight) walked into a local restaurant to book a table. The woman taking the booking looked at him, looked at me, looked at him, then asked if it was a date 😅 I mean she didn't _assume_ and maybe they would have decorated the table real nice or something, and I wouldn't be offended by someone thinking I'm gay anyway, it just kinda came outta nowhere to be asked my sexuality while booking dinner.

I'm pretty sure someone's sexual orientation is determined by their relationship to both parents, this is why neurodiverse people (such as myself), having a different perception of our relationships to even our family, can make us more likely to be gay or bi (i'm bi). Neurotypical people seem to view their mother as more nurturing, a shoulder to cry on, and their father as more protective, a role model to look up to. I've never seen my parents these ways but my straight brother does, i just see anyone i can trust as a person i wanna be close to, regardless of their sex.
