I’ve watched you for a while and am so impressed by your progress. There will always be negative comments no matter what you do,but I hope you feel proud of yourself. You didn’t stay stuck in your situation, you’re always improving your home and doing your best to take care of your family. So happy for you.
Thank you so much for the kind words. I am proud of all of the work we've put in over the last couple of years, our home feels so much better! It might not be fancy but I do love it!
The pandemic and all of the UA-cam channels who pushed “stack It to the rafters” created hoarders…I was one. So much money wasted out of fear. I will never do that again. Only what can be managed and eaten. You did an excellent job getting through all of that.
Yes!! OMG I was definitely watching all of those channels, trying to make sure I was getting all of the items on all of these lists to be prepared! Such a complete waste of money for sure, and very difficult to come to terms with. I am so happy you were able to get out of it as well! It makes life and our households much easier to maintain.
Thank you so much! I truly needed this basement to get a refresh before the new year! It's given me the motivation to keep it going! I love it so far ❤️
You've made a lot of progress!! Don't kick yourself for panic over-buying. A lot of people did that in 2020 (I certainly did). We were all trying to take care of loved ones in a time of great uncertainty. Now you're taking care of your loved ones by clearing out the unusable items. You're doing great!!!
Wow, this has been a lot of work! But so worth it!! I can't believe it's finally coming along, I feel like it took forever! I hope you are getting some decluttering done before the new year as well❤
@@homesteadingdreams8046 you should be proud of what you've accomplished. And don't feel guilty for tossing out what wasn't needed and was out of date. Everyone went a little crazy during the pandemic.
I understand what you're saying back in that time of mass buying the only thing that came out of it was crazy high food prices and we are still dealing with the crazy prices. You're doing a great job I'm a new subscriber I live in Wisconsin so i prep for winter weather, and that works for me❤
So true! I can't believe the prices today! Thanks for subscribing ❤️I do think some levels of prep are needed, especially in places with cold weather, as long as your able to manage it of course. I just went a little crazy 🫣
You've accomplished so much. Other than meat, produce, and dairy, you should menu plan around what you have in your basement to try and use it all up. Items a few months out from expiration give to the food pantry. Great job.
Wow what a big difference the floor painted looks so good. I have been decluttering for over a year to move & downsize to a smaller home I am a turtle but am glad I started I wake up not feeling so overwhelmed anymore. We can only change our future buying & storing habits we have learned from the past. I will never own this much stuff again. I want a simple life now. Great job be proud of your hard work.
Thank you so much! A simpler life is definitely the goal, I'm starting on year 3 for decluttering, you're not a turtle! It's a marathon not a sprint....I'm sure you've done amazing! I too will never, ever buy so much❤️
Great job!!! I've been decluttering for years myself and am behind you on your decluttering journey. Letting go is the most important thing you can do for yourself!! I'm proud of you❤
I just found your channel... Loved your video and transparency...I totally understand the fear and anxiety... So glad I found your video... You're not alone... I've started to declutter this year... It's freeing and makes me feel so powerful...❤️
Oh thank you, I'm glad you found it too! It is such a powerful experience, to manage all of our past decisions and habits. Sounds like you're doing a great job though, good luck!
Congratulations on a well organized basement food pantry. Hopefully each week when you do your grocery list you can come down to your well organized and nice looking pantry and shop the stuff you have.
I understand, the overwhelm is real. Looking great so far, would look good if you moved the shelving unit by the stairs and put it on the back wall with the other shelving unit. Looked so good seeing the stairs free of stuff. We all went a little doolally during those times, we thought the world was ending, I won't ever stock up again, now that I'm free of the stuff I have a lot less weight on my shoulders, you will too.
Yes we sure did! I would love to put the shelf there but can't due to the compressor 🫣 but will definitely continue to use things up and NEVER stock up like that again! Thank you❤️
Nice job! I use the same metal shelves in my basement. Lowe’s or Walmart sell casters that fit these with the screw posts. I think they are maybe a 1 or 2” caster (Lowe’s carries the 4” right with the shelves but go to other section of store to find smaller ones). It makes it so convenient to move a shelf if I need to vacuum or mop, have two shelves deep for space saving, or want to rearrange the space. 😊
Hi, we're married over 50 years. 3 of us live in a 2BR apartment near Chicago. I try to keep 2-3 months of supplies on hand. There was one bad period many years ago of job loss and bad weather. Tina, Al's wife
Yes, I think a couple months of supplies is reasonable. Once we work through this, I will never buy that much again! I wish I could just toss it and start over but I can't do it! I HAVE to work through most of it because it doesn't make financial sense to throw away good food. Plus the items I have stored away in buckets nobody would take.....thanks for watching ❤️
Jen, I was unsubscribed from your channel. I thought you stopped uploading or blocked me for some reason, but I just realized that UA-cam decided to unsubscribe me, well ok, good to be back here ❤
Oh my gosh!! I thought that might be happening, or I thought maybe people just didn't like me anymore! So many times after posting a video I lost multiple subscribers and I didn't know why! Thank you for telling me that, and I'm happy you are here ❤️

Very nice job. That is a lot to manage. You probably have enough food for a year or two. When things are off the floor, it really changes a space.
Yes! That's what drove me crazy was all of the stuff in the floors, along with other stuff 🫣 once we work through it..never again!

You have an amazingly big collection of kitchen items, cookware, etc.
@@carolynoquinn4573 think so? I've gotten rid of SO much! I think it's pretty minimal now?
