I've noticed this before, but it has never been as high stakes as it is with this recipe, but you do tend to leave too much air/empty space in your pudding cloths. Ie, when you tie it you let the cloth go a bit lax, meaning that water can get in. Try twisting it REALLY tight and making sure it stays tightly twisted while you the the string very, very tight. The knot should be located immediately above your filling: no space or extra cloth at all. I love your channel!
Doesn't matter if the rice is in a ball. It will taste great, especially with that lovely sauce. Justine..you look so lovely. I am happy that you are having a good pregnancy. I am a mom of 4. Last pregnancy was twins. Oops! I am blessed with a son, a daughter and twins that were a girl and a boy..in that order. Blessings to you and Ron with the new family member.
Oh Ron…..that was the sweetest thing!!! A pregnant woman can cry at the drop of a hat and her taste buds have changed…..Justine, now try nutmeg. You may like it now.
Ron... You are a good man Charley Brown. It's not about lying, but rather knowing the value of the effort that was made. Even when you are dealing with a train wreck.
You should make snow cream. Simply add heavy cream and sugar to a large bowl of fresh snow. Add just enough cream to make an ice cream consistency. Add a little vanilla flavoring. So good!
Justine, your face when it didn’t turn out as expected especially after taste test….PRICELESS! Girl you are a hoot! And Ron with the slurping….Love ya guys!❤🤢
It's ok Justine, we all have days like this. I remember my pregnancies drastically changed what I could and could not stomach. With my first, I craved jalopeños like they were candy. Now I can't touch them. I ended up having eight kiddos. Blessings to you on your first baby!
Aww, sweetie, you were due for a fail. You can only be perfect for so long! ;o) You didn't want greasy pond scum sauce anyway! ;o)))))))))))))))))))))))))))) Love your channel!!!!
Your videos are a peaceful time for me. Something so tranquil after a hard day. God bless you and your family. Looks delicious! By the way, I enjoyed your rant on the other channel. Plastics, never thought about it till now. Thank you!
What an odd receipt! Wonder if you needed to form the balls after they were cooked? Or used cooked rice? After an hour they’d be mush but that may hold the shape. Justine never fails! Just a poor receipt! 😊❤
This sounds interesting! Have to this is interesting! Always we like to all of your all's episodes! Ron is a great huspan God Speed to you both Rebecca and David Back.
Girl, lately, it seems I have failures or semi failures on a fairly regular basis! 😂 And sometimes, you know that you know you followed the directions. 🤷🏻♀️ Certain things, especially pastries, can be so finicky (like the dough not being cold enough when you bake it!) that you almost have to hold your mouth right! 😂 I get a laugh out of it, shrug my shoulders and get curious trying to solve the mystery and get excited to try again. Hehe! I love that you shared this with us. It’s fun to see other’s experiences. Even Julia Child had mishaps-she said that was just part of cooking, and she was right!! 🥰
I was wondering if there was a little baby bump there, but I didn't want to be wrong or rude either. You usually always wear an apron, lol. Congratulations, though. You did your best, and he seemed to like it 😂 I watch your videos all the time and have so many questions, but I love them all the same. Can't wait to see the next one!
Ron certainly knows which side his bread is buttered on. Bless him for being a good husband. Though it didn't turn out to be the snowballs that you had planned it reminded me a little of the apple rice pudding I often made for my kids. As we cooks know, not every recipe turns out well; sometimes the recipe just isn't right and sometimes the cook slips up somewhere. But honestly, that's why we have chickens and pigs. All mistakes gladly accepted by them! You look wonderful by the way.
How much dirt was in your snow water from scraping your ladle on the ground? 🤣 Nice video. Beautiful scenery. Thank you for sharing. We’re supposed to get 5”-8” of snow tomorrow here in Middle Tennessee! Can’t wait! My wife works at a grocery store and everyone is going nuts, stocking up with about a month’s worth of food. The roads will only be bad for a day, or 2 at most.
You both are so sweet! I think that the second reciept is better because it has egg in it to hold it together. also the rice that was used was more glutenous like sticky short grained rice. I would try the second reciept! Good job! I bet it did taste good like a rice pudding! I really love watching you cook!!
*Glory!!! After so much struggles I now own a new house with an income of $330,000.00 every month God has kept to his words, my family is happy again everything is finally falling into place.*
How can one start, most times people don't know where to start when it comes to crypto. But it would be great if you can provide proper guidance on steps to follow please
Mrs Justine, all of your audience admires you so very much. You are in the early months of your pregnancy, and you are already a lovely woman and of course pregnancy makes women twice as beautiful inwardly and outwardly. It is splendid to watch you practice the old paths and the good way for our edification. God bless you and your husband and child. DEO Vindice
Enjoying food when pregnant was rough for me. Some days good and other days bad ... sleeping and eating. Not keep house up. Beware when your 9 months pregnant you can be come a cleaning machine. Preparing for nesting. Love you
I remember this as a pudding as described. I forgot where I had it or when probably in Williamsburg somewhere or North Carolina. I only know I liked it and had never come across the receipt for it. Thanks. I'm going to make some, minus the wine. Never had it as snowballs before. Take Care and Stay Safe.
Maybe the snowballs needed to cool, and then they would have held together. Anyway, you created a new recipe. You just serve it and smile and pretend this was how it was supposed to be all along 😊
I did suck air when the nutmeg went in but I also know that a man will eat just about anything. Did you use Calrose rice? I couldn't tell. A short grain rice is going to hold it's shape better. And maybe make the ball bags real tight. Making mistakes just makes you human and even more endearing.
@EarlyAmerican for sure not hvn twins? I ask bc I was 34 no twins in family.however when a woman gets pregnant in 30's. We drop more eggs than one and well the rest is history My twins are now almost 40
After reading the recites, I think you may have had better success with the second one. At least it had eggs to hold it together. Don’t despair little mama, Ron seemed to enjoy it anyway. ❤️🇨🇦
I been there, trying something new out, than all that time you spent on it, now you have to throw it out. To bad, back than they didnt have pizza delivery.
The recipe said put in cold water then cook 1 hour after it comes to a boil. You put them in boiling water at the start and they weren't tied tightly. Sounds like a tasty dessert, I love rice pudding.
Good try! You might try flouring the cloth next time before putting the mix in. It creates a seal so the stuff can cook without falling to bits. And then let them sit 3-5 minutes in the cloth after taking them out of the water but before unwrapping them to let it all ....set... I guess is the correct word. Add a little bit of sugar and milk and make a sloppy rice pudding?

And possibly leave them to cool a bit and squeeze it all together to form properly.
That's the 2 things that I was thinking, also! I think cooling quite a bit.
I agree
Ron is a good husband!!!!!!!!
Omg chill they don’t live like this everyday 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
@@wanya_telborn Be kind.

Being pregnant looks really good on you! You're absolutely glowing!

It's always a pleasure to watch your videos. You look fabulous, Justine. Hope you're feeling well.
She looks beautiful pregnant ❤️
@@Morrisonsgirlfriendforever1971 I was gonna say the same thing.
That was just plain funny and something I can relate to. I’ve had more than one recipe go south on me. I’m sure it happened in the 1800s too!

Ron understands that he has a Constitutional requirement to preserve domestic tranquility.
It's in the Geneva convention!
Ron, you're so diplomatic. Good for you.
You two are educators on more than just historical cooking and clothing. Be blessed.
The outside scenes are so beautiful! I love the birds.
Oh Ron…..that was the sweetest thing!!! A pregnant woman can cry at the drop of a hat and her taste buds have changed…..Justine, now try nutmeg. You may like it now.
Justine's look on her face: I need a drink!!! Pours a glass of milk. Lol❤❤❤😊😂
Yes, I would have expected something stronger!
"THAT'S BETTER THAN MOM MAKES." He wants to stay married. Lol.
Your butter sauce broke, that's why it separated and became greasy. Ron is the best of husbands.😊 Wishing you both well.....wait.....you three!!!!😊
Ok, I don't think I've heard the term that the sauce broke... could you explain that? Please😊
Like Andrew Zimmerman says if it looks good eat it! I would eat it? Justine you're a fabulous cook! don't worry about it!
ALWAYS thankful for your calming videos ❤❤

All I could do was laugh you two are the most adorable people I've ever seen❤ Justine's reaction was priceless, Ron you're the best😊
This was so funny. I've been in your shoes Justine. Being in the family way can bring a lot of funny times. Just enjoy.

I understood that recipe saying "use a whole apple", as in using an ENTIRE apple. Maybe?
Well so it didn’t come out the way you expected it to… could have been worse…
It could have been seafood! 😂

Honestly...same 😅
And that SAUCE. Grease. Gord. Ugh.

I think the sauce should have been a thick caramel-like drizzle. The rice balls have no binder. Thanks Justine! Ron likes so it must be tasty!
If you decide to try this again. Try adding sugar in with the rice. That's how sushi rice is made and can help the rice stick together.
I been there, trying something new out, than all that time you spent on it, now you have to throw it out. To bad, back than they didnt have pizza delivery.
Hope mish mish has someplace warm he can be
I do enjoy seeing the occasional fail among the many successes. It shows how it really is in the kitchen both then and now.
