Most majestic interpretation of O Holy Night. Nothing compares to Tarjas sopranic voice. Thanks for reacting to this diamond.

Tarja is co -former of Nightwish and the original singer. With her was the best era of Nightwish. The concert From wishes to eternity is pure gold

Thanks for the reaction. And Yes, this song is from her album Dark Christmas, which was released a month ago. The whole album is absolutely fantastic. Tarja's era in Nightwish is my favorite, but now I like her even more as a solo artist.
Tarja is a founding member of Nightwish (with Tuomas Holopainen, Emppu Vuorinen). She left after nine years in 2005. Her last gig was End of an Era, after which she was fired in a rather messy way for personal reasons.Tuomas and Tarja are considered to be the parents of the symphonic metal subgenre, but their relationship is still frosty to this day
NW had three female singers, of which Tarja has the most classic voice. Tarja studied singing at Sibelius Academy and Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe. She is a professional classical lied singer with a three and half octave vocal range and she still takes singing lessons. Her voice has developed even more since her NW days.
With Nightwish, Tarja recorded 5 albums, many of which songs (including Ghost Love Score, Dead boys poem, Devil and Deep Dark ocean) are still sung by Floor (current vocalist) today. It's such an open secret among many fans that most of the lyrics from the first six (some say even seven) albums are about Tarja.
Nightwish always have great live shows. From the concerts with Tarja, I recommend From Wishes To Eternity (2000) or End of An Era (2005), especially their official Live Fantom of the Opera, Dark Chest of Wonders, Ever Dream, Ghost Love Score, Slaying the Dreamer, where Tarja sings with their bassist Marko Hietala, with whom she reconciled after many years as the only one and since this year they are even starting to perform together.
Tarja is mainly a rock singer (the best rock album is In The Raw in my opinion), but she also releases albums like Score For Dark Christmas (2017) or Dark Christmas (2023) or this year she released her first album from her side electronic project Outlanders. From her live performances, I recommend Victim of Ritual or Supremacy (Muse cover) from the Woodstock festival in Poland or anything from the Rocking Heels performance, especially her cover of Unforgiven, Numb, Vermilion or Afterlife.
Of the concerts with Floor, the Wacken concert is the most praised. Floor also has an excellent performance of Poet and the Pendulum, which expresses the deep depression (the loss of a muse and a friend, the anger of fans and the uncertain future of the band) of Tuomas Holopainen (head of Nightwish, main composer and keyboard guy, knew Tarja since childhood) after Tarja left the band. Floor is an excellent singer, but her singing style is different from Tarja's, more rocky. With each singer, NW changed the style of music. With Tarja, the style was closest to gothic trash metal. With Anette (2007 -2012) they approached a more pop sound. Now it's more towards soundtrack music. Nightwish has several songs from Dark Passion Play (the first album after Tarja left) that they no longer play live: Poet and the Pendulum, Bye, Bye, Beautiful (a message to Tarja) and Master Passion Greed (a song about her husband) which is the hardest and angrier.
There is still a fierce battle between Floor's and Tarja's fans, so I advise you to avoid any comparisons, especially with songs that were originally sung by Tarja and are now sung by Floor. Floor and Tarja are longtime friends and support each other.

Thank you for reacting to my request! :) Tarja is amazing. Pronunciation of her name is more like "tarya". When she was in Nightwish it was best era of this band, definitely, and she was first female operatic singer in metal music as band member, after Nightwish's success many other operatic girls started to perform in metal music, what I think is really great. :) I hope you will react also to other songs from Tarja's solo career, because het own songs are amazing and you can hear much more of her vocal abilities in her solo career than in Nightwish.

    Thank you!
This is definitely an interesting way of getting to hear Tarja for the first time. I like it! Most people listen to her with Nightwish for the first time. You did a Dark Christmas song from Tarja first. She is best known for her work with metal and rock.
It has been a long time since Tarja was part of Nightwish (2005). Her voice has evolved quite a bit, it has become more diverse. Her sound has kinda matured over the years.
A good song with Tarja in Nightwish is Slaying the Dreamer live from End of an Era (that concert was Tarja's last one with Nightwish).
In total, Nightwish has had 3 lead vocalists: Tarja Turunen (Finnish), Anette Olzon (Swedish) and the current one Floor Jansen (Dutch). All of them have been a big part of Nightwish and it's history.
Some fans still fight over who is the best singer out of these 3 (mainly they fight between Tarja and Floor), but I think they all are great and there is no solution who is the best singer.... you can just say which one you prefer🥰
Now, Tarja has been working with her solo career for almost 20 years. So I hope you react to some of her own songs too😊 She has released 5 rock albums, the 6th one on the way. A good song and performance is Victim of Ritual live from Woodstock (2016).
With Floor, the Wacken show from 2013 is amazing and highly praised. Especially the song Ghost Love Score is very recommended song.

YESS, you definitely need to check her out in Nightwish! 😍
My suggestions: Ghost Love Score, The Kinslayer, Slaying the Dreamer, Wishmaster, Planet Hell (End of an Era concert, her last one with the band), Over the Hills and Far Away (official music video), I Wish I Had an Angel (music video)...
Thanks for this reaction, I'm glad you liked Tarja's vocals. ✌🏼

I would say listen to her solo stuff more, she doesn't get enough credit for it and I think she sounds so much better solo.

if you really want hard dark spell-binding Tarja (and Marko too) with Nightwish:
(even some rocking on invisible guitar, head windmills, and etc theatrics too)
(remember, the concerts/albums/covers must be BEFORE 2006, for Tarja's performances)
    (not ranked, just listed)
    1. Slaying the Dreamer
    2. Planet Hell
    3. Wishmaster
    4. Kinslayer
    5. Ghost Love Score
    6. The Siren
    7. End of All Hope
    8. Dead to the World
    9. 10th Man Down
    --------------
    Nightwish's 3 singers:
    1. Tarja (original singer): 1995 to 2005
    2. Annette: 2006 to 2012
    3. Floor (current singer): 2013 to 2020+
everyone knows Floor, she's super popular with everyone, especially right now, and is a really good singer, having a huge variety of singing capability (pop, classical/opera, belting, growling/raspy), able to sing nightwish's old songs that were for Tarja's classical/opera singing, as well as new songs for her own variety/range of singing abilities
Unfortunately for Annette, she's a pop/rock singer, and a very good singer too, but her pop/rock singing just didn't go that well with nightwish's music, which was made for Tarja's dark classical/opera singing. So, usually, she gets left out.
so, it comes down to "Targasm” (Tarja) vs “Floorgasm” (Floor) in terms of the Nightwish singers in who you like most, if you like classical/opera singing better, Tarja is better at it, but that's all she does back when with nightwish, as nightwish was created for tarja's unique dark operatic singing/voice, (now with her own band, or solo, she does a greater range of singing), but she does it really well, she's really got a beautiful voice, if you like more pop singing, belting and growling/raspy, with or without classical/opera singing, than you like Floor better
I knew nightwish from the early 2000s, so Nightwish will always be with Tarja, but Nightwish with Floor is really good too, but it's Tarja, who's my favorite singer with nightwish
(many others will help you out with Floor's songs, so I'll just stick to Tarja's songs here)
    ----------
if you do like Tarja with nightwish, here's some good ones:
(just make sure the song performances are before 2006, else it's not tarja who is singing)
    (NOT ranked, just listed)
    1. End of an Era (her last concert with nightwish, hard to find good quality and the entire concert, as it gets taken down)
    2. Phantom of the Opera (her duet with Marco, really good, both of them together, this song was actually used in the Phantom of the Opera remake movie in 2004)
    3. Wishmaster
    4. Planet Hell (marco sings in this song as well)
    5. End of All Hope
    6. Dead Boy's Poem
    7. Nemo (watch the official music video and also her live performance of it)
    8. Kinslayer
    9. she is my sin
    10. wish I had an angel
    11. slaying the dreamer
    12. the siren
    13. dead to the world
    14. 10th man down
    15. walking in the air
    16. ghost love score
    17. dark chest of wonders
    18. bless the child
    and many more too
    ------
this is about the 'phantom of the opera' with tarja nightwish, but it applies to tarja for all other NW songs too:
Tarja has her own stage performance/presence, but the focus is on the entire band (much more respectful), unlike with floor, where the focus is almost entirely on her, and also, Phantom of the Opera isn't about that much showmanship, so you're not seeing more of Tarja's performance/presence (love how the camera work and Tarja worked together, with her ducking down, seeing Marcus as he delivered his singing, and then Tarja stands back up, seeing her face back in the camera as Marco's part ends and hers begins again, Tarja is really such a team player, as she could have had all the focus upon herself, like Floor gets, but instead she chooses to give the entire band the respect and focus that they too deserve, it's not all about Tarja, like it is with Floor, despite how good Tarja is and thus how she could be the entire focus with nightwish, as is Floor with nightwish)
there's other songs, where Tarja was way way way more stage performance/presence/showmanship, including hair windmills, rocking an invisible guitar along with empuu rocking his guitar, along with her doing her squatting too as she sings and taps her foot/leg to it, as she's swinging those hips too, along with her getting the crowd involved as well too, and etc stuff, you got to watch way more songs, to really see her amazing stage presence/performance and showmanship, as Phantom of the Opera is likely the one song with the least of that stuff, due to the nature of the song itself, being about their singing (contrasting and then cacophonous harmonous duet, nothing can compete with Tarja and Marco voices duet'ing), though Marco and Tarja had a bit of showmanship and fun snuck into it, with Marco pointing to his face and Tarja's facial expression reactions, while both song their parts

Great reaction!!! If I may suggest when checking NW, start at the beginning with Tarja then Anette and finally check out the current singe Floor . But be aware that there will be commenters spewing nasty comments if it is not a Floor version.

NW was and is a great band that have several different periods. The early years with Tarja a bit more metall but the latest with Floor is the most popular among promoters of the band. There is a third vocalist, Anette in between thos two and she is the least popular among the girls. Its toxic ground to start comparing thoug and soon the army joins up with their general in front and tells You witch tracks to listen to and in witch order. Just check 100 tubers that cover NW and they all have the same track list to follow. Do so and Your subs and watches will skyrocket for a while as long as You dont diviate from the list but You will miss out on lots of great tracks and gigs, NW is not a backupband to any of their leadvocalists but you will find out all this as soon that Your first NW reaction is out on the tube 🤘🥰

You're 25 years late. No point in listening to the watered-down crap here. Get the 2nd and 3rd Nightwish albums. Those are just about perfect. And get into professional opera, if you wish.
