About the crowd, it was like 20-25 lucky fans from the Winter Storm were picked. She headlined a festival in London the day before this, so she picked a handful of the fans that were there for this experience.
aaahhh... I love this song!!! Thank you!! I also love the studio version. This song just always gets me into a good mood. The story of it is really interesting. You asked what is my favourite from Act II.... it has to be Love to Hate. It's just a very dear song to me and the Act II performance is the best one. Tarja really has become a masterful songwriter.... well perhaps she always was, we just didn't know it. I love how she tells stories that are unique, not just "basic" love stories (not that there is anything wrong with those). Also Alanna, I loved your analysis. :) Yes, I love it how much Tarja AND her fans (you guys included ;) ) appreciate her band. Yes, it is her name that they tour with but you can see that it's never just about her. And in some of the live videos you can see how excited the people are for excample about Alex, the guitarist, when he does his solos.
This is another progressive alternative rock masterpiece from Tarja. If you want to explain what a prog rock song is and don't want to use words....just show this video.
Colours In The Dark is her proggiest album. Medusa, as you said, is the woman from Greek mythology that was cursed to turn to stone everyone who looked into her eyes. The only way to really see her and not die is to look at her reflection in a mirror. What I feel that is missing in the live version is the duet with a male vocalist (that happens in the studio version) where she tries to seduce him and he tries not to be seduced. She sings "close your eyes and leave the empty grail" and "last for you to see will be my eyes". The guy sings "a beautiful evil cursed with hearts of stone". And they interchange their parts in the choruses. She sings in some choruses "you can find my truth in the reflection" and other stuff. Her vocals are over the top on this show but the studio version is incredible because of the duet.
Medusa, my favourite most beloved song❣❣ The studio version is perfect but there is something about this live performance, the rawness of her voice here, she's snarling, biting, howling in high pitch and then goes down into that crushing chest voice and it fits the story of cursed Medusa so well, she's adding so much depth and emotion to this performance it makes me go crazy 🙏🏽 And it's such a beautiful song, the atmosphere, the instrumentation, the lyrics. No one doing it like her ❣ Glad you finally got to react to it!! :)

@@larryzigler6812 I would like to be there too. The performance is great, but as for the song itself, I just prefer the studio version. Sometimes it's a dilemma between the live performance and the song itself.
Of course there are a number of different Medusa myths. The one I recall is that Medusa was a beautiful virgin priestess in the Temple of Athena and that when the temple was under attack she was r*p*d. Athena, being jealous of her Medusa's beauty, saw this as an opportunity to strip Medusa of her beauty an in so doing make her into the monster (as typically described) as punishment for defiling the temple. This narrative is kind of upsetting in that the goddess would blame the victim rather than curse the perpetrator. An alternate narrative is that Medusa asked Athena to turn her into a monster so that any man who even so much as looked upon her would be petrified (turned stone). This second narrative is the one that I prefer as it gives Medusa the choice of transformation into a being who can protect herself as opposed to being a punishment for a crime that she suffered. This second narrative also aligns with the traditional use of medusa's image on shields and doors as a symbol of protection.

Please react to Tarjas LIVE song called 'DAMNED AND DIVINE', from 2007 concert. Its a GOTHIC VAMPIRE Tarja she sings
Amazing song! Uncomparable TARJA ❤
This is so much like Christina Scabbia's Lacuna Coil
Thanks for the reaction. I love Medusa, but I like the studio version the most, where Tarja is accompanied by a male voice.
