The poem that launched her career and gave her a chance to study at Vassar. And she was young when she wrote this poem. She is a forgotten poet.

What an astonishing performance. There was so much emotion spoken through each section, but it was never overdone. That reading was of such quality that I think it was closer to acting than reading. I am just getting into enjoying Millay, but this has sealed the deal for me. Thank you for sharing this with us. I hope you will consider doing another reading...spoken poetry on UA-cam is so rare.

Beautiful poem, well read. "I wish I were to live again to kiss the fingers of the rain, to drink into my eyes the shine of every slanting silver line..."

I memorized this at 16. It gave me a lifelong love & appreciation of poetry. I now own 650 books of poetry. I have all of her books & her excellent biography!

Thank you~ I do want to re-record it. Some parts don't come through the way I would like. It's just so darn long and so very full of everything.

Pardon, Miss Poetry, I see no less than 6 mountains. And the submarines between the trees.
