When tuners came i had few good races where people treated the races like you see in racing sims, if they didn't have the speed for takeover they slowed down and tried again instead ramming your rear end. It was gentleman racing and i loved it!
Ikr. After playing racing sims a lot, it takes a bit of getting used to the responsiveness in GTA, but other players just do not know when to brake and how to use slipstreams. Makes it so easy.

I had a level try hard that wanted to blow up my cars. I let him blow up six at that point he must have realized he spent about 1/5 of his GTA+ money on insurance premiums. He left the session.
I don't know for sure but at level 16 it kept saying he was paying the premiums. I don't remember how much I had at level 16 but as soon as I realized I was paying for my stupidity I stopped.
Sometimes when dealing with tryhards, I just stop. Let them grief me until they realize they're wasting their time on a person who doesn't give a shit, then they move on to the next and I can go around normally
The absurdness of a GT86 keeping up with lamborghinis is just weird. Specially in a game where there are so many JDM classics that are considerably slower.
Honestly, if GTA online had a no contact lobby automatically, I would probably still play the game just for racing. And if you're in a lobby of respectful people, I actually prefer the contact races, but The fact that one person could smash into you once and basically ruin your chances of winning really puts a damper on the whole system for me

Thats why back when tuners came out i loved the Jester RR it had speed and handling and allowed you to go to take an entire race to gapplebees with a 30 second gap between you and the 2nd place person if you knew how to drive well(which i learned from the lovely job of Diamond Casino getaway driver)

From looking at the comments about Catch-up, I have a feeling not many in here know exactly what it does. Basically, Catch-up decreases the LEADER's speed by around 20-ish MPH. This does NOT affect other racers. The ONLY reason why it is more common to catch up to the rest of the pack up front is due to everyone overtaking and constantly slowing everyone down. SO, having Catch-up turned off and still catching up like that proves that either you are faster around a track than the rest, OR everyone in front of you has been crashing while you haven't. I'd say you are skilled if you can stay in the Lead with catch-up on, and others can't catch up even with it on.
exactly, not to mention most racing games have this on in some capacity by default, I think kiddos just learned a new buzzword, now older games where people just spawned in behind you (Outrunning cops in MC:LA comes to mind, rip Midnight Club) were actual bs
@@jadesded I think what you are referring to is Rubberbanding, where NPC cars start to catch up to you with excessive speeds until they get close. That was known in quite a lot of older NFS games like Most Wanted, Carbon, Hot Pursuit, etc. That was literally NPCs getting the equivalent to speed hax to catch up. Cops even had it, but I always thought it was slipstream when they were getting close to you (how I thought they were keeping up)
@@ienvy_kuro ya that was a more common technique but in midnight club LA you would be running away from a cop with an upgraded car going topspeed on the highway & the game would freakout after a certain speed and load in a new cop model right behind you, in which you had to slow down and wait for the new cop model to catch up to you (spawned in going 0mph) or keep topping out your car and the cycle would continue & you'd never lose the cops, idk if it was just my gamefile on the 360 but it was rough

When I'm custom racing with friends we usually keep Slipstream on to make the racing more interesting as if you build up a gap you can still keep it but if the other person gets close enough theres a real danger of them overtaking you and we like to race that way altough in random online racing you can't race normally anyway since everyone treats the races like a crash derby.
gta has literally the worst grind system, where people who don’t know about solo sessions can be obliterated by any guy and lose nearly an hour of waiting for the car to deliver. Most games where you need to grind provides no-pvp zones for farm, mining etc, but here we have an mk2, 5k hours hydra enjoyers and stuff like that. I appreciate i people’s effort to get money here, but i think it’s easier to get out of life-time asylum than stay sane in this game while farming

To cut it short, I don't know if I could mentally survive more than 30 minutes of gta 5 racing xD. Any time i play GTA5 and do a race with others, I turn off catchup and slip stream so every racer must use their own skill and not the game's help to win.

I had this GTA+ user who I did Casino Service missions with (Do not ask just follow me here) I got invited after vibing with a few guys at the Casino, you know, making friends. then this guy comes out of no where and joins us I am like okay, no problem the more the merrier eh? Well he randomly starts talking about "Which shoes should I buy?" Meanwhile this is in a mission. We tell him that he probably does not need shoes if his current shoes are fine. After this it was all friendly and such but then his entire attitude changed and we got into "Daddies money" (random subject it came up not long after the talk about the trainers) and he hits us with the "Actually I started working at 13 and the money i earned my parents put into an investment portfolio and that is the money I am using now." And I answer him like "Dude with all due respect, I could not care less where you get your money from I just want this dumbass mission ended" (It was that mission on the roof of the Casino with the choppers and such) Well apparently he did not like that and he left us and we failed the mission.
i find racing with taking out more fun, it adds a level of skill to it as u have to overtake at the right time otherwise the person will just spin u out, if ur not taking people out u can overtake people easily with slipstream and it’s basically down to who gets the lucky slipstream at the end of the race like this

I think you can toggle extreme slipstream off when hosting a race.
In a technical sense there is no rule or nerf against bumping, so in a sense this is the biggest example of pay to play, mad cuz bad.

i find racing with taking out more fun, it adds a level of skill to it as u have to overtake at the right time otherwise the person will just spin u out, if ur not taking people out u can overtake people easily with slipstream and it’s basically down to who gets the lucky slipstream at the end of the race like this
