Billie was 17 and her brother Finneas was 21, it was made in his bedroom at home, they record everyday sounds and the sound in Bury A Friend is a dentist drill Billie recorded at the dentist
the people who say she didn't deserve all the grammys or that their favorite deserved at least one of them don't understand the grammy nominating and voting process. it's not a fan poll, it's recording academy voters from all kinds of different backgrounds and fields selecting a winner out of the nominees of that year. besides, billie also won a lot of the popular votes for a bunch of different awards. she didn't just sweep the grammys, she swept almost everything. they're just butthurt. i think it's pretty obvious why she won -- the album didn't sound like anything else at the time, it was masterfully executed and produced, wildly popular and captivated the attention of a broad spectrum of ages, styles, and tastes.
True the pop albums dominated for so long and the opportunity to switch up who won was taken, she was incredibly popular for a reason and the Grammys saw that. New and interesting
Billie is a generational phenomenon - Rolling Stone listed her WWAFAWDWG as the 7th best debut album of ALL TIME {and that's as a 17 year old} - I believe [as a 69 year old] that one day in the future - perhaps not for lyrics - but for creativity and musicality she will be seen as a GREAT like a Joni Mitchell or Bob Dylan or Leonard Cohen or Amy Winehouse - partly because she is genre-defying [or incorporates elements of many genres] P.S. If ROLLING STONE were to rank ALBUMS done by teens she might rank close to the top - though admittingly I don't know who the others are - I believe Elvis is one and some country singers are others - maybe LeAnn Rimes.
@@mitcht2717 don’t forget about finneas! Billie is extremely talented and I love her she’s my fav artists but her brother is a master at production. He was the main if not I believe the only producer of her albums
One thing about Billie is that she does NOT mess with CGI😂. Everything she does is real when it comes to her music videos. The spider, black liquid, and all the other crazy stuff she does for her music videos all real and all crazy as hell!!!😊❤
Billie and her brother Finneas co-write all her music and he is the producer. She was around 16 and he was 20 when they made this debut album. It was recorded in her brother’s bedroom in their childhood home. She has an earlier EP called Don’t Smile At Me. Then her second album was released a couple years ago called “Happier Than Ever”, then a two song EP called Guitar Songs. I would highly recommend more by her. She and Finneas won an Oscar for their James Bond theme song “No Time To Die” and may be in line for their second one for the song they made for the Barbie movie called “What Was I Made For?” No huge writing teams, no huge production teams, no fancy studios, just her and her brother recording music in their home. They’ve both moved out of their parent’s house now that they’re older and her brother has a studio in his house. That’s where they record now.
For Wish you were gay, it about her wanting a guy, and rather than face him rejecting her, she wishes that he were gay just to give his lack of interest in her an explanation, rather than face the fact that he's just not that into her
I love finding people discovering Billie for the first time! let me clear up some of your questions about this album... - bad guy's lyrics is supposed to be a satire, it's not like she's saying she's gonna seduce the guy's dad, it's like this guy is full of shit, I can be full of shit as well - the bass in xanny is supposed to make your brain dizzy as a mimic of the effect of being drugged - The office was sampled because when they were producing the song, the melody reminded Billie of the Scarn dance, as she's a big fan of the office, so she tried to add quotes from thread level midnight episode, where the scarn song is featured. - 8 was written from the perspective of someone she hurt cause she was not into him that's why her voice was distorted. She also wanted to include a song with ukelele in the album, it's the first instrument she learned to play. She also has one ukelele song in her first EP. - ilomilo is a video game Billie used to play, where you need to get your avatar to the other character so they can hug eachother, that's why the song has this fantasy, video gamey sound. - The MV of Bury a friend later transitions to the MV of All the good girls go to hell - The ending of the Bury a friend song transitions to ilomilo. - listen before I go is kind of a suicide note, so the ambulance and city sounds are meant to help you visualize the scene (and her pain) after jumping off a rooftop That's why in some words like headache and deja vu the bass hits harder so it hurts u as well. - goodbye's lyrics is basically made of a lyrical sample from every song in the album from the last to the first track. - the whole album concept is supposed to be a dream/nightmare experience, kind of rambling where our minds go when we are sleeping
The best thing about this album? It was made in her brothers bedroom. In the tiny house they grew up in. No studios involved. Her brother Finneas is her producer/co-writer.
wish you listened to the lyrics in listen before i go instead of talking through the whole thing. you kinda missed the entire point of the song :\ the production is cool, but listen to her lyrics
Y'all are dumb as fuck holy. Get help. He isn't a servant to y'all. There's about a thousand other people who reacted to this album, if you wanna see someone focus on lyrics, just click off? He's talking about the song structure, which is just as important.
"Listen before I go" - Billie first performed that at age 15 when she was emotionally on the edge - "Listen before I go" or "Listen to this song before you make conclusions about this album' - if there was ever a song whose LYRICS demanded to be heard, whose MEANING and SIGNIFICANCE and MUSIC is ABSOLUTELY DEPENDENT UPON The STORY BEING TOLD this is the one.
wish you were gay is about a guy that she likes but he doesn’t show any affection back to her so she is saying that she kinda just wishes that he was gay because that would mean it’s not a her thing it’s a woman thing. does that make sense? like if he was gay that would mean that it’s not that he doesn’t like HER it’s that he doesn’t like women in general but he’s not meaning that it is about her and he just doesn’t like her like that. she was saying ‘save my pride and give your lack of interest an explanation’ and ‘don’t say i’m not your type just say it not your preferred sexual orientation’
14:41 to when she walks off. i’m sorry but the way she was talking about smoking and how they’re ‘not dying by mistake’ meaning they are killing themselves and then you take a pull on your vape and she just looks down at you then looks directly at the screen and says again ’what is it about them i must be missing something they just keep doing nothing’ and walks off is a masterpiece 😭
The "sample" in Bad Guy wasn't from a song. Finneas (Billie's brother and co-producer) recorded the sound of the traffic light crossing sound in Australia.
You should listen the lyrics, because all the songs have deep meanings. If you like to know, how Billie and Finias (her brother) makes music, check out the:Billie breaks down bad guy, video. You will be surprised. 😊
the song “I wish you were gay “ is about liking someone who doesn’t like you back and doesn’t have those romantic feelings towards you, so you wish they were gay to give their lack of interest in you an explanation instead of them simply not liking you
@@palomaroggeri8680The concept almost works, except that the key is that in this scenario, both are the same orientation and it hurts thinking the lack of interest is because of her and not being the wring gender. When they are both the same gender, then the fact the other person is just straight removes the personal pain of their lack of interest. The other girl just isn't into girks in general. Here the guy is into hirks, just not her and it's harder to not take it personally. If he was gay, she wouldn't take it personally. But recently Billie alluded that she's either a lesbian or at least bisexual. Or the reporter read to much into her comment.
@@johncampbell756 no yeah I totally understand what the song is supposed to mean, and the power that it has on its own right, but I like to hear it in the “straight crush” interpretation because its more relatable to me specifically. The longing for someone that literally cant feel the same for you and its not even their fault, its an experience that every single queer person goes through, besides the line “just say Im not your preffered sexual orientation” everything else can fit. The song is actually my favorite in all of Billie’s discography when it is viewed in that way. Especially since Im an artist, I can think of hundreads of animatics that could be done with this song, with different gay ships lol
@@palomaroggeri8680 Oddly, though I'm a straight guy, a lot of my friends are musicians and a majority of the women are lesbians, so I've been on the gender flipped end. I've had crushes on women who were never going to look at me that was. Speaking of, one of the bands was Saucy Monky. At first the two singers wrre closeted, but the video for "Awkward" came out after they did and left no questions. (If you were a fan of 2000s Nickelodeon shows, particularly Zoey101 & Drake and Josh, you may have heard them already.)
Am i the only one annoyed by him talking about chords over gut wrenching lyrics and not even realizing what she is talking about... idk just i think when reacting to an album all aspects should be looked at, especially if you are gonna include the music videos as well
@@marc_8o0he also missed the music video connection between bury a friend and all the good girls go to hell. Bury a friend she is being injected which is how all the good girls go to hell starts before she plummets to earth
Keep in mind that she was mostly 16 years old when she recorded this album (and 17 when it was released)? So there are a lot of youthful - sometimes dark but whimsical - touches to the songs.
A lot of people feel “my strange addiciton” is about Billie’s love for the office. She said she seen the whole series like 20 something times. She’s always watching it.
Please, listen to the lyrics of Listen Before I Go, your reaction to the song was kinda inappropriate for what it’s about. Jumping off a building. She really felt that way and has openly talked about it. There was a specific day in Berlin that she was crying in her hotel room because of how much she just wanted to jump out the window. That song should not be taken lightly, it is extremely serious and devastating.
I’m 42 minutes into the video (at bury a friend) and I don't understand why people are complaining. I think that you are being very nice. Also, I don't know about other people but I can't analyze and understand the lyrics to songs on the first listen, especially without reading the lyrics. I'll edit this comment if something in the video changes my mind but I don't see any major problems with his review so far. Edit: I just finished watching this and I think it was a good video, he was very fair. I stand by my confusion about people complaining about him “talking over” and “not paying attention” to the lyrics.
I personally prefer her second album “Happier Than Ever” but that’s only because it leans more to the style of music i like which is sort of jazzy lo-fi type stuff. Although that album (like this one) kind of goes all over the place stylistically as well. But I really appreciate all her music because it all feels genuine to me.
There is actual footage of her and all the spiders behind the scenes. She never really fakes anything in her videos even the drowning. There were 6 rescue divers there just in case she had issues getting out of the house. The only one I know wasn’t real was the needles. She makes music she loves she doesn’t fit in a category.
Don't forget the first couple of songs were from a few years ago when she was only about 17 or 18. Excellent as they are, she has developed as an artist since then.
The "aggressive sound effect" that you were wondering about in "bury a friend" is actually a sound sampling of a dentist drill that Billie recorded while at a dental appointment. It has been digitally processed for the song (more brilliance from her brother Finneas), but it still carries that subliminal feeling of dread and literally putting your teeth on edge. Also, the "sample" in Bad Guy that you were thinking was a sample taken from some other song (which Billie would NEVER stoop to doing) was actually the "clicker" sound from a crossing signal in Australia that she recorded. Truly amazing and original sound engineering and production.
Not sure if anyone ever answered, but Bury a Friend was released before All the Good Girls (the video with wings). So the syringes in the intro for AtGGGtH was a reference to BaF.
Dude your reaction to listen before I go was hilarious, you even noticed the ambulance and the piano/running up the stairs yet remained so oblivious and happy, that shit was so funny 😭 the chords are fantastic though so I get it. Overall really enjoyed this reaction, thanks!
The literal Karen (Smith) who rated the album 1 star because she didn't pay attention is ridiculous. She clearly didn't look at the cover or read any of the song titles. Who in their right mind thinks an album with songs titled Xanny, Bury a Friend, All the Good Girls Go to Hell, My Strange Addiction, Bad Guy, I wish you were gay, etc. are children's lullabies...
btw, no those spiders are all real xD. and for the "When the party's over" video, they used tubes that poured out the liquid next to her eyes, just edited out the tubes :)
I’m an older male billie superfan and I’ve seen her twice. Once last year and once this past September. Both times front row. She’s a hell of a performer.
the song “i wish you were gay” billie said it was about a guy she really liked but he didn’t like her back so she’s saying she wishes he was gay so it’s not her he doesn’t like its that he doesn’t like girls
if you also listen to all the good girls goto hells lyrics its about global warming and in the mv all the things on fire and she is meant to be a bird with her wings covered in oil
I would say that her EP is the most enjoyable for people who like experimental music. Her debut album is the most enjoyable for people who like darker themes. And her second album is the highest quality album overall. Personally, i have more favourite individual songs on the first album than on the second but overall the second album is a step up from the first in terms of writing and quality, which is kind of insane considering how amazing the first one already is. Like someone else said, the second album is more jazzy in terms of the overall tone, I’d say their EP is more pop in terms of overall tone, and this debut album, uhh… is dark. But they are all really experimental while being varied as well as consistent. It sounds like an oxymoron but it just works. Sometimes it breaks my brain a little when I think about it too much, similar to when I think about the concept of time or the physics of the universe. Billie’s music genuinely awakens a scientific curiosity in me, I keep wanting to figure out WHY and HOW it works the way it does. But in the end I can also just sit there and listen to it and go urgh how?! Before I move on to trying to piece together the different dynamics and patterns of music theory, lyricism, visual concepts, themes, the psychological impact of auditory processing of musical colours… anyway. Finding people on UA-cam that I can vicariously re-experience listening to her music for the first time and where I can nerd out about it in the comments is certainly a special interest of mine. And I find it fascinating to analyse how different people interpret and process her art based on the different preferences and general specialised knowledge (producers, vocal coaches, musicians (rap, heavy metal, country, alternative…) film editors, psychologist, priest, lyricists, literature professors, linguists… it’s all really fascinating to me.
I love your enthusiasm for the musical production, but I hope you can read the lyrics of "listen before I go". To me, it's the song from the whole album that stood out the most because it revolves on Billie being on the lowest point of her life.
Listen before I go is my favorite from this album. Her lyrics is so incredible, the lyrics is worth attention. Please pay attention to the lyrics. Billie talks about the saddest and most touching things in her songs, she just knows what we all feel, so real
Every song is different, and all are art pieces. Billie & her brother are really talented, innovative, and prolific musical & performance artists, not just an industry standard recipe performer like 90% out there right now.
you should listen to the album only audio first. As u said her visuals are too strong and grab you and took away from the music which is a shame specially for someone like you that appreciates and understands music and production. Seat down and calmly listen to all of it with great headphones you'll be blowned away by all the details and lyrics you missed. If u are up to it do her second album too I'm very curious to see what u think. But keep the lyrics up when you do cause its worth it.
shes like addicted to the office - she plays it constantly like to get to sleep, while getting makeup done, while backstage, always just watching the office, its her safe show haha so thats the addiction connection
You were close but backwards on wish you were gay. She's I to a guy who has no interest in her. She wishes he was gay so that she could think it's not her that makes him not interested. She recently came out as not straight, but I don't remember if she actually put a label on it. Keep in mind that this entire slbum was written and recorded by her and her brother in their bedrooms in their parents' tiny house. "Is that Coke?" No. It was colored water. The black fluid was not CG. they had little tubes around her eyes hidden by a ton of makeup. The video was based on a drawing by a fan Billie is playing the ukulele. The bass tone throughout this album is nuts. Finneas earned his production Grammy as he also produced a bunch of other people. She's addicted to The Office. Rain Wilson interviewed her in her house. Bury a Friend is a cross between her pop and almost Nine Inch Nails. This video comes before the video for All the Good Girks Go to Hell. Ilo Milo is a game she was addicted to. One of the songs, possibly this one, the beat was created by manipulating the sound of an Australian crosswalk alert Billie recorded on her phone on vacation. The last three song titles are read together as a statement. "Listen before I Go. I lice you. Goodbye." Abd Goodbye is nothing but lyrics from all the other songs in reverse track order. I had never seen that before. I love the musical build in I Love You. If you aren't familiar with Lorde, her first few EPs and albums are a perfect fit with this stylistically. Though this isn't ripping Lorde off. Lorde was a few years earlier. Pure Heroine and Melodrama are the best. I haven't seen many of her shirts and I live in LA not too far from her.
Ik my face literally scrunched when he said that. Because he’s just sexualising it and completely ignored the songs meanings n lyrics. He lit said “it sounds like she’s on top of u” when she sings. Wtf does that mean. Could have just said close to u. He’s being weirdly creepy and clearly doesn’t have the ability to feel music.
I was enjoying the video until I got to the 'listen before i go' part AND HE JUST DIDN'T PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT BILLIE WAS TALKING ABOUT, LIKE BRO GIRL WAS TALKING ABOUT SUICIDE AND YOU WERE PAYING ATTENTION TO BACKGROUND SOUNDS
wish you were gay is about Billie liking a boy who doesn't like her back, so she's saying she wishes he was gay because then she would have a reasonable explanation as to why he shows no interest, and it wouldn't be so difficult to get over him.
Yes it’s very infuriating some people can only hear music and not feel it. I guess he doesn’t have the ability to really feel it, more or less just listen and pick a part the instruments, which is a good talent, but damn his reaction to listen before I go felt kinda not appropriate for what the song was about, he should have it least tried to listen to the lyrics, especially since it’s about suicide, which is a very serious thing and it’s a very deep meaningful song and he just didn’t feel the emotions and pain in the song, just the instruments :/ I wish he would maybe get the lyrics up or have subtitles on. Idk man just not my type of reaction video. I like people who appreciate the songs production AND meaning. Billies songs are so powerful and when someone doesn’t even try to feel the song, it’s frustrating. Ik it’s not everyone’s thing, but he was so insensitive abt it. Not that hard to listen to the lyrics. Especially when they are so gut wrenching and deep.
It’s not about a boyfriend. It’s about a guy she liked and wishing he were gay to explain why he wasn’t interested in her. Turns out he came out to her a couple of years later.
timestamps ❤ 5:40 - !!!!!!! / bad guy 11:30 - xanny 17:00 - you should see me in a crown 21:01 - all the good girls go to hell 25:37 - wish you were gay 31:34 - when the party’s over 35:12 - 8 38:51 my strange addiction 42:12 - bury a friend 47:02 - ilomilo 50:27 - listen before i go 55:24 - i love you 1:01:01 - goodbye
Billie Eilish is so many genres .. she is first of all a jazz/indie singer , in her sound too .. and dream pop.. but then they also used trap, hip hop, even rock, country, folk, R&B , EDM etc they use so many genres, they like to experiment with more genres even in one song …. Every song and mv has a deep artistic and important meaning … she is a visionary minimalist artist! Hands down! She is amazing. The best for me in pop music .. 🤷🏻♀️ and im a millennial and a musician .. I just like real emotional unique artists like her 🤷🏻♀️ she is interesting bc she is a real creative artist .. and she is the only creative director behind everything even behind her shows Etc ! And she is AMAZING, she is SO EMPATHETIC and sweet 🥰 so humble, amazing human, amazing family, so down to earth, amazing everything… trust me … i hate pop music and artists that world, but this girl and her brother and family are special..
wish you were gay is a song about billie liking a guy who does not like her back. so, because of this, billie wishes he was gay, so that there would be a proper explanation on my he doesnt like her, other than the fact that he simply is not interested in her. "to spare my pride, to give your lack of interest an explanation. dont say im not your type, just say that im not your preferred sexual orientation."
Billie is a GOD! & her Brother Finneas are amazing, Billie does not have a bad song. Billie transcends music genre's her whole body of work is truly amazing, and she's only 21 years old !!!
One of her biggest influences are The Beatles maybe this is why the composition especially lyrically it seems older to you, and Julie london is her biggest influence vocally especially in her last album !
I think he was just really focused on the musical aspect of the song rather than the lyrics. I noticed that he had a preference for the songs without music videos, and since he also mentioned that they distract him from the song…which makes me think he probably would have enjoyed the album more only listening to the album without visuals. He also didn’t switch on any subtitles or looked at any lyrics so I just realised he probably is more of a music than a lyrics guy
- Billie’s music is so multi layered that one really needs to listen to them multiple times in order to really really appreciate her music - so interesting that you preferred the songs that had no music videos, I recommend looking at lyrics the next time you listen - nobody wears Billie merch who doesn’t listen to her. I really don’t think so. She’s an amazing musician and very cool, but I think both underrated and misunderstood BECAUSE she happens to be so “mainstream” - there’s something generically “uncool” about “being a fan” of something mainstream, and only people who actually listen to her music know how innovative and alternative and special and quality her music actually is. It’s a very interesting twist because she’s so widely known that people don’t realise how good she actually is. It’s difficult to explain. But I think only people who genuinely have taken the time to listen to her music would feel secure enough to back the fact that they are Billie fans, since most people who genuinely really like her music tend to be people who don’t like popular music but she is so good that it almost overrides that. Long bla bla short, I don’t think a lot of people wear her merch that aren’t really into her art. - based on your favourite songs I think you’ll enjoy her EP and her second album. It’s difficult to say which album is her “best”
After watching this, I have come to the conclusion that YOU LIKE Billie Eilish and are listening to her stuff quite often. They've all already grown on you by now. And i want to guess you bought a shirt.😉
About your t-shirt question, I doubt if there's anyone in the world who's not listened to Billie. They might not know it's her music, but she's covered in nearly every language, country, artwork, movies, comics, you name it.
Enjoyed it. Big BiFi fan. This is her most popular albuim but her EP, Don''t Smile at Me (when she was 15) is amazing. This album is more her brother, Finneas, his production is a character. Her follow up in 2021 (Happier Than Ever) is more mature, more Billie, and showcases her singing and songwriting. But I think you would also like their side projects. The Bond movie song, No Time to Die, won an Oscar, and 'Everything I Wanted' won an Grammy. 'When I was Younger' is about the film Roma, and her 'Guitar Songs' is very moving and acoustic... but her albums get most of the attention. Billie is a fabulous vocalist. Thanks, enjoyed it!! Oh you would like 'NDA' I think, off of 'Happier', it sounds like this album.
Calling Billie lame was for clickbait right? Because she is not lame, one of the best original artists to come along in decades! I wasn't surprised you didn't hear the lyrics, you talked nearly all the way through them. But in saying that Billie did win you over dude! 😉
all the spiders are real, she does all real stunts in her music videos. the behind the scenes for the videos are just as cool as the videos them selves
Was hoping to hear you listen and critique her music, but you talk through most of the song instead of listen to it. I guess you aren't a lyrics kinda guy, but you missed half the point of everything by only hearing the instruments and beat. There is a time to listen and a time to discuss. I won't be back to your content again because you haven't figured out that rhythm of reacting yet. Maybe next time I run across your videos it will be better. Good luck man.
Thank you for this video i enjoyed your reaction a lot ! Billie really is an interesting artist, really visual and so diverse in her sound like her album are all so diffrent from one another. Saw her live once ad she really is a hell of a perfomer ! Btw she's about to be releasing a new album soon and she stated in a recent interview that radiohead alongside some other rock /metal band was one of the main inspiration for it ! can"t wait for that to come out.

As a huge fan, I really enjoyed watching your reactions. Even if you didn't all out like all the songs. But just seeing your appreciation for the production is really cool ❤
There are many videos where Billie amd Finneas break down their production, it's cool to hear. It's something that I love about their music, I will always hear something new when revisiting their catalogue. The end of Bad guy was produced by Billie. Halfway through this I was like it's the Maj 7 dude. Finneas is in love with them, you are going to enjoy the rest of the catalogue for sure. Her ep dont smile at me has a bit more trap and has a lot of humour. Happier than ever is way deeper and more introspective and sincere. Features lots of jazzy tunes as well. Guitar songs is gut wrenching. New music is probably coming soon, some music she said she listened to in the last months which probably inspire the style they are going for is Deftones, Radiohead, Mazzy Starr and my bloody valentine

I'm an old goth born in the 70s.. and I really didn't want to like her, but dang it..she's spooky and awesome.
For Wish you were gay, it about her wanting a guy, and rather than face him rejecting her, she wishes that he were gay just to give his lack of interest in her an explanation, rather than face the fact that he's just not that into her
I'd say it probably has two meanings for her now too since she's come out as bi
I love finding people discovering Billie for the first time! let me clear up some of your questions about this album...
- bad guy's lyrics is supposed to be a satire, it's not like she's saying she's gonna seduce the guy's dad, it's like this guy is full of shit, I can be full of shit as well
- the bass in xanny is supposed to make your brain dizzy as a mimic of the effect of being drugged
- The office was sampled because when they were producing the song, the melody reminded Billie of the Scarn dance, as she's a big fan of the office, so she tried to add quotes from thread level midnight episode, where the scarn song is featured.
- The MV of Bury a friend later transitions to the MV of All the good girls go to hell
- The ending of the Bury a friend song transitions to ilomilo.
I literally screamed at my tv because he kept talking 😫
no literally like shut up and get the lyrics up and look at the meaning before getting so exited about chords when th esong has a deep meaning
He is so annoying loll.
Y'all are dumb as fuck holy. Get help. He isn't a servant to y'all. There's about a thousand other people who reacted to this album, if you wanna see someone focus on lyrics, just click off? He's talking about the song structure, which is just as important.
The irony of you smoking while watching Xanny…
Happiest dude listening to listen before i go
"Listen before I go" - Billie first performed that at age 15 when she was emotionally on the edge - "Listen before I go" or "Listen to this song before you make conclusions about this album' - if there was ever a song whose LYRICS demanded to be heard, whose MEANING and SIGNIFICANCE and MUSIC is ABSOLUTELY DEPENDENT UPON The STORY BEING TOLD this is the one.
wish you were gay is about a guy that she likes but he doesn’t show any affection back to her so she is saying that she kinda just wishes that he was gay because that would mean it’s not a her thing it’s a woman thing. does that make sense? like if he was gay that would mean that it’s not that he doesn’t like HER it’s that he doesn’t like women in general but he’s not meaning that it is about her and he just doesn’t like her like that. she was saying ‘save my pride and give your lack of interest an explanation’ and ‘don’t say i’m not your type just say it not your preferred sexual orientation’
All of the spiders were real and the spider in her mouth was her pet tarantula.
it wasn't her pet spider. i'm not tryna be a dick, but it wasn't her pet. peace.
@@mouthbreether I probably got it confused but I did know she had a pet tarantula.
@@Alex-ld1fm yes she did! it was blue. named "cooli" it has passed away 🙁
No it wasn’t her pet, her tarantula was blue and as she said these spiders were from a professional woman in that field.
That's just comedy😭😭💀
The "sample" in Bad Guy wasn't from a song. Finneas (Billie's brother and co-producer) recorded the sound of the traffic light crossing sound in Australia.
Think he means the synth
But yeah, not a sample. Definitely listened to Bad Guy before
You should listen the lyrics, because all the songs have deep meanings. If you like to know, how Billie and Finias (her brother) makes music, check out the:Billie breaks down bad guy, video. You will be surprised. 😊
the song “I wish you were gay “ is about liking someone who doesn’t like you back and doesn’t have those romantic feelings towards you, so you wish they were gay to give their lack of interest in you an explanation instead of them simply not liking you
Yeah I always thought the song was about being gay and being into a straight person lol I prefer listening to it that way 😅
@@palomaroggeri8680The concept almost works, except that the key is that in this scenario, both are the same orientation and it hurts thinking the lack of interest is because of her and not being the wring gender.
Please do a FULL album reaction to Her EP
Don't Smile At Me (2017)
Am i the only one annoyed by him talking about chords over gut wrenching lyrics and not even realizing what she is talking about... idk just i think when reacting to an album all aspects should be looked at, especially if you are gonna include the music videos as well
yea im kinda upset too, its like he was purposely ignoring the lyrics of listen before i go... such a deep song to not acknowledge the lyrics at all
Yeah, I enjoyed his reaction until that point. It was pretty disrespectful, the way he acted.
Also in "wish you were gay" he didn't understand the theme even in the bridge were she clearly explains it, he talks over it...
@@marc_8o0 TRUEEE I WAS SO MAD BOUT IT but what can we do
@@marc_8o0he also missed the music video connection between bury a friend and all the good girls go to hell. Bury a friend she is being injected which is how all the good girls go to hell starts before she plummets to earth
They’re all real spiders
Including the tarantula coming out of her mouth, I wish people would watch the behind the scenes for that one - them being real changes EVERYTHING.
The spiders in the mv of you should see me in a crown were real in fact billie had a tarantula as a pet herself
The video for All Good Girls Go to Hell picks up right after the video for Bury a Friend; so that’s why they share the needles in the back scene.
There is actual footage of her and all the spiders behind the scenes. She never really fakes anything in her videos even the drowning. There were 6 rescue divers there just in case she had issues getting out of the house. The only one I know wasn’t real was the needles. She makes music she loves she doesn’t fit in a category.
You are definitely a Finneas Fan. His instrumentation and production is meticulous and he uses all sorts of sounds.
I wish I was in the worldline where Finn and I were a genuinely in love couple. I would be both famous, and happy.
The male vocals in “I love you” is Billie’s brother/producer Finneas. He’s also a musician and has a couple albums out.
Overall really enjoyed this reaction, thanks!
also weird saying her voice is sexy when she was 16 when she made that song
Yeah well dude’s obviously a dork
@@andrerusso312 lmfao literally
The literal Karen (Smith) who rated the album 1 star because she didn't pay attention is ridiculous. She clearly didn't look at the cover or read any of the song titles. Who in their right mind thinks an album with songs titled Xanny, Bury a Friend, All the Good Girls Go to Hell, My Strange Addiction, Bad Guy, I wish you were gay, etc. are children's lullabies...
I absolutely love this entire album. She has a brilliantly visual mind. She comes up with the concepts for her videos and now directs all of them.
I almost "absolutely love the entire album" - 8 doesn't quite do it for me - but all the others do and some are "GREAT" - e.g. "Xanny" (1 example)
btw, no those spiders are all real xD. and for the "When the party's over" video, they used tubes that poured out the liquid next to her eyes, just edited out the tubes :)
And I find it fascinating to analyse how different people interpret and process her art based on the different preferences and general specialised knowledge (producers, vocal coaches, musicians (rap, heavy metal, country, alternative…) film editors, psychologist, priest, lyricists, literature professors, linguists… it’s all really fascinating to me.
all the spiders where real to btw
The spiders in you should see me in a crown are in fact real
I never thought i'd be a billie eilish fan.... But here i am,i jam too her music daily
Once you listen to her music, you are in…it’s just so good!
The spiders were real
Not him vaping during xanny
billie made you should see me in a crown vertical because she needed a backing for Spotify
I love your enthusiasm for the musical production, but I hope you can read the lyrics of "listen before I go". To me, it's the song from the whole album that stood out the most because it revolves on Billie being on the lowest point of her life.
This is how I felt too
Listen before I go is my favorite from this album. Her lyrics is so incredible, the lyrics is worth attention. Please pay attention to the lyrics. Billie talks about the saddest and most touching things in her songs, she just knows what we all feel, so real
Yes, she wrote that song .. and It’s about depression and suicide 💔 her thoughts in that dark period of her life … 💔
Her strage addiction IS watching The Office!
She’s obsessed with The Office, that’s why it’s her strange addiction lol
Every song is different, and all are art pieces.
Billie & her brother are really talented, innovative, and prolific musical & performance artists, not just an industry standard recipe performer like 90% out there right now.
The sample from Bad Guy is actually an Australian crosswalk "walk" signal. The sample in Bury A Friend is a dentists drill!
Great reaction. She's talented and unique. She and Finneas deserve all the success they've had.
you should listen to the album only audio first.
The video was based on a drawing by a fan
Billie is playing the ukulele.
I believe the crosswalk alert sound was used in Bad Guy.
it makes me feel weird when he calls her sexy bc she was a child when these were made🧍🏻♀️
Ik my face literally scrunched when he said that.
He turned out to be gay.
The way that you don’t even listen to the lyrics is a bummer. Ur emotions for sure did not fit anywhere in what “Listen Before I Go” was portraying
Especially when they are so gut wrenching and deep.
thanks for reacting! but please listen/read the lyrics
You should react to Happier Than Ever next! It’s so much more mature and versatile.
"I wish you where gay" is about her wishing her boyfriend was gay so it would explain why hes not showing her love anymore
its wish you were gay
It’s not about a boyfriend. It’s about a guy she liked and wishing he were gay to explain why he wasn’t interested in her. Turns out he came out to her a couple of years later.

How are you even hearing the music? You're shouting over the top of almost every line! Unless you've heard it somewhere before, of course 😉
this
He has earphones, you could show some basic intelligence.
Billie’s brother Finneas produced most of her music, he is also very talented.
One of her biggest influences are The Beatles maybe this is why the composition especially lyrically it seems older to you, and Julie london is her biggest influence vocally especially in her last album !
The talking over how much you love “listen before I go” as the song is about suicide? Like you totally missed what the song is about
I think he was just really focused on the musical aspect of the song rather than the lyrics.
- Billie’s music is so multi layered that one really needs to listen to them multiple times in order to really really appreciate her music
- so interesting that you preferred the songs that had no music videos, I recommend looking at lyrics the next time you listen
- nobody wears Billie merch who doesn’t listen to her.
I’m actually so suprised you haven’t heard bad guy it’s like one of the top streamed Spotify songs for a girl
You really should react to happier than ever the album
About your t-shirt question, I doubt if there's anyone in the world who's not listened to Billie. They might not know it's her music, but she's covered in nearly every language, country, artwork, movies, comics, you name it.
Listen Before I Go is about suicide jumping from a rooftop
You should react to her album happier than ever! I think you will really like it
truee
all the spiders are real, she does all real stunts in her music videos. the behind the scenes for the videos are just as cool as the videos them selves
45:48 it is a dentist drill sound
Was hoping to hear you listen and critique her music, but you talk through most of the song instead of listen to it. I guess you aren't a lyrics kinda guy, but you missed half the point of everything by only hearing the instruments and beat. There is a time to listen and a time to discuss. I won't be back to your content again because you haven't figured out that rhythm of reacting yet. Maybe next time I run across your videos it will be better. Good luck man.
Listen before i go is my favorite song from Billie. So fucking nice. Another song that very good too it's: TV.
The vertical video was made for Spotify

So much memories in thsi album
