- Our pole barn house is really coming together as we finish the loft space.
It doesn’t do us much good without a staircase!
So we bought a one on the internet…

Great video y'all. There's a DeWalt concrete anchor called a mini undercut. It's designed to only into the concrete 3/4". It comes with a stop bit to help ensure that.
Oh wow, radiant heat roulette! We love the way the stairs turned out - thanks for sharing.
Haha, right? Thanks for watching!
Looks fantastic! Your home is coming along so beautifully. A real showplace!
Aw thanks!
Nice video, very refreshing, thank you. The stairs are great, I will definitely but them in folder for future reference.
Well that was a cute little remedy that works for your space! I bet the kids are excited about that. Good progress, stay blessed!
Thank you! They are so excited! :)
Oh WOW y'all! LOVE the stairs!! 😍
Thank you!!
Looks good. I didn't even notice the traction tape on the stairs until you showed it up close. Nice ending! Haha!
Ha! :) Thank you!
Love those stairs! Great job and very good thinking on the grip tape. Matches perfectly!
Coming along y’all 🧡
Have a very merry and blessed Christmas 🎄 🙏
Thanks so much! Merry Christmas to you!
Beautiful and unique!
Thank you!
Thanks for showing this. Our house has a really weird 3rd floor access with a super tight spiral staircase that lands on a sketchy catwalk that runs between two loft-style attic rooms. The catwalk terrifies me every time I try to walk on it. I actually haven't been inside the room farthest from the stairs in over 5 years! I'm hoping to install something like this in the future. One for each room.
Omg guys...I so much needed this video, I need and purchase the exact type of stairs and this video is soooo useful. Thanks again. Good luck with your projects.
Glad the video was helpful and we appreciate you watching! 🙂
Those are really cool looking stairs & a great solution for y’all. I think hiring those guys to do the drain was a smart decision. Wishing y’all a Very Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year!
Blessings, Love & Hugs from Vicki in Ft. Worth, Texas 🇺🇸👍❤️🥰🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Aw thank you! We so appreciate you! Merry Christmas!
...but I could totally see myself in the dark navigating those alternating treads...timber! 🤣
hahahaha!
Looks good guys!
Thank you!
Neat stairs, good job!
Thank you!
Awesome 👏 😀👍
Thank you! :) :)
I love it .
Thanks!
3 min 27 sec a spider joins you two for the stairs adjustment!
I know EXACTLY what you were talking about with drilling the slab. I CRINGED every time we had to drill a hole in ours. We had pictures and some measurements, but not enough to cover it all. So far we still have pressure on all our lines. We are doing a homemade all wood spiral staircase to our loft.
Right?! Haha.
Your staircase sounds awesome!
Thanks for watching!
Those stairs are super sharp looking.
Thanks a lot, Josh! Appreciate it! :)
Thanks for video
Thanks for watching!
So pretty looking ! But steep !!
Haha thanks. Perfect description!
Oh my, the girl can sing!
🤣🤣
In the future if you have to drill into floor. Let the house cool off then turn on radiant heat. Use a thermal camera or if the runs are far enough apart you can feel it.
Yeah I went by feel and gave it my best shot. :)
Great episode. I see a singing career in Natalie's future...😆😆
hahaha! Thanks Chad! Appreciate you watching!
Looking good, love it! What is the length and width of the hole you guys made into the wooden floor?
Great informative video. Are you still happy with your setup? I'm going back and forth between this type of stairs and a spiral staircase. I was set on a spiral, but you've got me reconsidering 😆.
Thanks! Yes we still love it!
I live in a tiny house which is only 8 feet wide and there is a loft above the area for my bed. However, there is not an area to cut a hole. How much space does it take up? Thanks.
Hi guys, I have this same staircase in my tiny home but what to reposition them to turn in the opposite direction, do you think this is doable?
Thanks for the great video. What's the dimensions of the hole/opening that you made in the loft floor for this install?
Hi , good video
I think it was a great idea to use your drill to make the install easier . Could you please tell me the size socket you use for the drill and the size wrench you use to tighter the bolts, thanks
Yes what size socket did you use
like stair
I have a homemade ladder going up to my loft and I can carry a cup of coffee in complete darkness up the ladder being a senior. My ladder is hard on me but yours looks like an accident waiting to happen. I was looking for alternatives but I'm thinking my best alternative might be to decrease my angle and have wider treads on a homemade ladder. Yours looks extremely user unfriendly. has it gotten easier with time or have there been any incidences?
Your stairs look amazing. I’m looking for space savings stairs for a loft space. Would it be possible to let me know what the drop from your loft space is and how far out the steps stretch from the wall. That would give me an idea if they would work for me as my space is pretty tight. Many thanks.😊
Hi. Did you ever find anything suitable?
Very informational! I'd like to consider this product for a spiral staircase spiral in a pretty tight space. I wonder, to what degree can you "spiral" this staircase? Are there any "twist/turn" limits on the metal cylinders?
90deg max
hi, how have they held up?
Does it flex at all? I just installed one and mine has a little bit of flex 😬
Hi guys, love the stairs. Quick question. Was you loft previously an attic?
Thanks! No it’s a new build. The loft space is big but not technically big enough to be considered a bedroom by code.
I wish I would have never pulled a permit from my 2nd cabin. I would have used the same type of stair
Would you please comment on the black metal framing around the ceiling opening? Did they send you a specific size or did you buy it separately?
That's actually just 1"x8" pine board painted black. I just framed out the opening myself.
@@LittleMountainLife You’re both so creative!
Great job....how wide was the cutout....for the stairs was there a minimum...
Thanks! It’s cut to 42”x36” but we are going to make it a bit longer to avoid hitting our heads on the way up 🙂
Interesting. Awesome documentation and LOL at drilling the holes in the slab blind. Yikes!
The non code-compliant aspect of the stairs seems like a pretty big bummer. Is there some reason you didn't want that space to be a legal habitable area? (Maybe some small property tax incentive? or max sq-footage limits for your project?
No issues with the Pex in concrete yet? I've heard of the lye or other chemicals breaking down the pex plastic over time. Usually from moisture getting drawn in.
No issues at all.
How tall would the walls need to be for the loft to have enough headspace to be up-to-code bedroom(s)?
Our side walls are 12’ tall and you’d want to go with at least 16’ side walls to have a proper full sized bedroom up there. I can’t remember exactly what the code says but I believe more than 50% of the room needs at least 7’ headspace to be considered a bedroom.
Does it feel super steep/scary to descend the stairs? Thanks for the video!
It's definitely steep compared to average stairs. Our girls actually have a harder time going up than coming down.
How Big of a opening did you cut for this?
May i know the lenght and width measurent of the wood panel?
Osm fabulous but all work price and,,long life
Did u use lag bolts to Mount top part to wood?
Yes. I think it came with 4 3” lags and I added two more 6” lags.
Very nice how to purchase
Where did you get that extra railing from ?
We ordered it with the staircase. It's an add on option on their website.
It's an interesting video made very kindly!! May I introduce that to Japanese people?
What was the size of your opening? Nice info
5’x3’
my wife is worried about sturdiness. do they wiggle at all?
where we can get it?
Hi Where can I buy these DIY Loft Staircases ? I am in Australia - Please reply.
Available on Amazon or check the arkiestairs.com website
I would think a through bolt or carriage bolt would be called for instead of what looks like a concrete anchor bolt. unless I missed something
I would eat it so hard on those stairs.
🤣🤣
👍👍🌹🌹
How much space does it take up
The way we have it curved, it's 48" wide and 68" long
Safe to assume you never had issues with witches trying to access the loft?
Nope
how much did it cost????
could not find them on Amazon.
It’s been a while since we posted this. Hopefully it’s available again soon.
And same thing i give measurement u provide accordingly
No longer available on Amazon...
Bummer. Hope it comes back soon.
How to contact in korea?
Hwo is many in work
Stairs are not available anymore
Soooo... You bought a staircase and just had to assemble it yourself. Doesn't seem all too DIY to me?
Haha! I guess we have different definitions for DIY...
Do people that do DIY plumbing projects make their own pipe and fittings?
