Cranberries (unprocessed) are very good for you. They are full of anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer nutrients. They help keep the liver healthy and lower your blood pressure. And although they are not a sugar bomb they taste great! A great way to add flavor to your steel cut oats for breakfast. And please do business with mom and pop farmers like this. I wish I lived in Canada.
I love making cranberry sauce for Thanksgiving and Christmas. It couldn't be easier ... equal parts water and sugar, and a bag of cranberries [plus a touch of salt] ... bring them to a boil, lower to a simmer, until all of the berries have burst. Voila, sauce! And, a lovely aroma will permeate your whole house.

I LOVE cranberries. Like, I just eat them as they are. But they are absolutely delicious when you first freeze them and put some warm caramel sauce on them (preferrably homemade, but storebought is also really good). Or just have the berries fresh and not frozen, also works really well in my opinion. Absolutely delicious!

This was absolutely riveting. I knew about cranberry bogs, but had no idea that they aren't bogs all the time. And the harvesting was fascinating to watch. Now I'm craving cranberry pie (so good - tastes a lot like cherry, only more tart).
very interesting! In Alberta, my grandma and I would always go pick the cranberries in the woods, she could fill a gallon pail faster than I could cover the bottom layer. The wild crans do taste slightly different than farmed, not sure why though. Great video :)

In my country cranberry’s grow naturally. We call them “purvs” where they grow. “purvs” in english means swamp. I’ve never heard about cranberry farms and i don’t know if we have them.

But you get so good at it, you can disconnect any think about other things while every part of you is making little adjustments to keep things on track. Like a zen meditation, its quite a satisfying experience. Hard for the uninitiated to understand that running a machine that makes noise can be calming.
We used to buy cans of cranberry sauce for our big family dinners. Now, we make our own by buying just the berries. It's great because you can adjust the sugar content yourself to get the sauce as sweet or tart as you prefer. It's easy to do, and we usually do it the day before the dinner. The cranberries are cooking on the stove while the raspberry and pumpkin pies are cooking in the oven. The kitchen smells incredible.
I’ve always loved cranberries, but then again I love sour, not so much of a sweet tooth, so they really are great, hard to find not frozen ones where I live though
Growing up, my Mom would make her Cranberry jelly/sauce from scratch. Starting with fresh whole Cranberries and cooking them down and then mushing them into sauce. I never had canned cranberry sauce until I went over to a friend's house. One year, my Mom forgot the sugar. You only forget that once. It was definitely memorable. She also made her stuffing from scratch, her pies, her whipped cream, etc. My Mom had since passed but I will always remember her Thanksgiving dinners from scratch.😂
