I worked at Ocean Spray in Richmond this year as a binner. The 2020 harvest was expected to be in excess of 53 million pounds of cranberries. This was one of the most enjoyable jobs in my working life, great people and experience, hope to be back next year.

Cranberries (unprocessed) are very good for you. They are full of anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer nutrients. They help keep the liver healthy and lower your blood pressure. And although they are not a sugar bomb they taste great! A great way to add flavor to your steel cut oats for breakfast. And please do business with mom and pop farmers like this. I wish I lived in Canada.

I love making cranberry sauce for Thanksgiving and Christmas. It couldn't be easier ... equal parts water and sugar, and a bag of cranberries [plus a touch of salt] ... bring them to a boil, lower to a simmer, until all of the berries have burst. Voila, sauce! And, a lovely aroma will permeate your whole house.

I LOVE cranberries. Like, I just eat them as they are. But they are absolutely delicious when you first freeze them and put some warm caramel sauce on them (preferrably homemade, but storebought is also really good). Or just have the berries fresh and not frozen, also works really well in my opinion. Absolutely delicious!

Growing up in NJ we lived right outside of Whitesbogs. Every year we would go on school trips there and learn about the history and stuff of how they were farmed and even got to go out and farmed some by hand. (this was fun as a 2nd grader. as an adult, it is awful lol) I didn't realize until I was half way through college that a lot of people are unaware of how cranberries are harvested or grown. Its interesting watching people learn new things.

We used to buy cans of cranberry sauce for our big family dinners. Now, we make our own by buying just the berries. It's great because you can adjust the sugar content yourself to get the sauce as sweet or tart as you prefer. It's easy to do, and we usually do it the day before the dinner. The cranberries are cooking on the stove while the raspberry and pumpkin pies are cooking in the oven. The kitchen smells incredible.

I grew up on a farm operating lots of noisy machinery. It is actually very calming. You have to be fully engaged in every aspect of operating the machine. But you get so good at it, you can disconnect any think about other things while every part of you is making little adjustments to keep things on track. Like a zen meditation, its quite a satisfying experience.
Hard for the uninitiated to understand that running a machine that makes noise can be calming.

I have been making homemade cranberry sauce for years. You couldn’t pay me to open a can. I bought a carrot cake “roll”. Like the pumpkin roll cakes. Well, I decided I wanted to try to make a cranberry sauce and cream cheese filled cake roll. It was amazing!! Hardest part was figuring out the spices for the cake. Can’t wait to make another one! Enjoying your channel. Watched a couple of videos and subscribed. Still binging. Good luck!

Love the video, amazing info and imaginary.
Idk why, cranberries alway make me sleep deep if I eat them or even drink their juice.
I am from Siberia, collected wild cranberries by hand as a kid. There, they just grow by themselves wild ones, but they are red soft and very juicy inside so they don’t float. 😊

I cook cranberries in port or sherry (just a few tablespoonfuls in the pan) until they have popped; add some stevia powder and ground cloves to taste. They freeze beautifully, so you can eat them any time of the year if you want. Great with any meat.

Growing up, my Mom would make her Cranberry jelly/sauce from scratch. Starting with fresh whole Cranberries and cooking them down and then mushing them into sauce. I never had canned cranberry sauce until I went over to a friend's house. One year, my Mom forgot the sugar. You only forget that once. It was definitely memorable. She also made her stuffing from scratch, her pies, her whipped cream, etc. My Mom had since passed but I will always remember her Thanksgiving dinners from scratch.😂
