When I lived in Madison, Wisconsin, I would make the 4hr drive to Minnesota to visit my family. On the way, I'd drive by the town of Tomah, Wisconsin, where i94 met back up with i90. I remember seeing a big cranberry bog. Some times of the year, the bog was lusciously beautiful, reflecting the pretty blue midwestern sky. Then when the end of summer came, I'd see the deep red cranberries. It was wonderful. I always looked forward to seeing the bogs on that long drive. Thank you to all the farmers who make this happen. I always think of those bogs when it's Thanksgiving when I'm eating homemade cranberry sauce.

fun fact! some cranberry farms are filled with (i believe) wolf spiders, to take care of pests, and are considered employees as much as the farmers. during the hiring process for workers, they're asked if they're ok with spiders crawling all over them, because when the bog is flooded their fellow employees will be using them as a means to not drown, so they'll be literally covered in hundreds of spiders.
