I am an hardcore atheist North African but I have nothing against Islam. I believe that regardless of whether people define themselves as Arab or Amazigh in North Africa, Islam is part of our culture. As we were colonized by France, Islam allowed our culture, yes our culture, to survive Frenchization. In Algeria we had an Islamist insurgency for 10 years with horrible massacres but the population did not question religion. Well, our governments are not theologies too but we have a different view of the role of this religion. Even the Amazighs Berbers hate the arabisation and the arabic conquest but they are proud to be muslims. The image I have of Iranians is that they are hospitable, warm people with a great civilization, but I have the impression that lot of them have a certain complex towards the West like the Turks. I feel that they Want to become Westerners. Arabs also have an inferiority complex but we don't want to become like them. We sometimes see the West as enemies because they have done us too much harm (British and French colonization then Zionism in Palestine, the wars in Iraq, Syria and Libya). But i don"t critisize the rise of atheism in Iran, i hope that whole world leave religions!
I think we westerns have created an other category. Probably because when westerns went in those countries during the past centuries, they received the same impression.
While this is true, Persian is not a Semitic or Arabic language, and good to know this for uninformed westerners, this line of thinking and overall attitude is very euro-centrist and colonialist in a way. In my travels in the middle east the most confused are those who think "we don't belong in this part of the world and have nothing to do with our neighbors", and think they should be attached to europe or america for some reason. Iran, Israel, Georgia, Armenia in general harbor this racist, wannabe approach and this lessens their self-confidence, self-awareness and relationship with their neighbors.
Yes that's exactly the case. I do agree with what you're saying but at least in Iran it's mainly a reaction to the experience of the people with the government, not the people themselves. People in order to distance themselves for what the government stands for, look more towards the west. Thank you for watching the video and your comment :)
@@Narcis_Hostelthat’s incorrect, thats ur political views, as an Iranian living in the west and born in the west I can tell u the Iranian government is way better than any western government. U have zero experience and need more knowledge before making ignorant comments the world can see.
@@shadowborn1456 That’s exactly what the guy above was explaining. Iranians have more in common with Indians and even Arabs than they do with Europeans. No one cares about “Aryan” ancestry other than Persians themselves.
How are they like? I think it's mainly because the difference in culture and art of the region. Like different eras in each country has brought a different influence on art and architecture :)
Azerbaijan belonged to Iran just 100 years ago before Russia stole it from Iran. By the way why does Azerbaijan help the unethical regime of Israel? We Iranians certainly do not help Israel cause Iran has morals and ethics. Have a nice day 😊
@@BlueBlue-mm7kn Because Azerbaijan was part of Iran for such a long time, I was expecting to see more similarities with Iran. I didn't take in consideration the Russian occupation.
Even between Arab countries, there are huge differences, so you are being no different than the Westerners who think Iran is Arab. Its funny since Iran and Iraq more similiar than for example Lebanon and Saudi Arabia. It's very reductionist nonesense, even ethnically Iran current population has more "Semetic Dna" than for example Libya and Morroco. So no you are not very different as much as the countries of Middle East are not similiar.
That is true there are so many differences between arab countries too but the focus of this video was on the difference between what generally is known about arabs and Iranians. As someone living in Iran, we have a better understanding of the Iranian community and differences and we're just trying to explain our point of view but also considering other facts 🌱
I am also without religion. I am a non-religious Iranian
Beautifully presented! As someone with limited knowledge of the region, I really appreciate your exceptionally clear explanations. Thank you!
Thank you for your comment. I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Means a lot to me ❤️
perfect and discrete explanation. beautiful as always

Yes that has definitely had it's effects 🤔
Reminds me of Chinese and Japanese
That makes sense :)

That's bc we persians are not Semitic but Arya and our culture is really close to Europeans
Ur EXTREMELY wrong, u should study Iranian history further. Iran has more in common with its neighbors in the East aka Asia then they do with Arabs.

Bazaars in Azerbaijan are nothing like in Iran. Why Azerbaijan is so different from Iran?
