  • For the longest time I avoided reading Chinese characters because it was just so hard, until I tried this, I tried reading the news in Chinese every day for 30 days, this is what happened.

    for me i read chinese manhua or manga, i would understand most of the context as i’ve seen most of the story in english. but yeah great job with this. just wondering did you keep notes on vocabulary ? how many times did you read the newspaper in a day? did you make yourself understand it before moving on?

    • @thedanyopang
      @thedanyopang  3 роки тому +3

      I mostly just save them to my pleco and review them later or create mind maps, gonna make a video about this, stay tunned!
      For reading the newspaper I tried to read it twice the first day and then I'll try to read it again the next day to review. Yup definitely tried to understand it first before moving on, checking characters I didn't understand.

    I studied Mandarin in Taiwan as well but just for 6 months. Anyway, your advice is super helpful and yeah I listen a lot like you have been doing to absorb the words and let my ears get used to the sound. For reading, I feel like it works with me when I attentively read something and come back to read it again after a couple days or a week.

      Thats awesome! Repetition is key, thats where I feel I do most of my learning.

      @@thedanyopang I think it was a great idea! I know the words but I'm learning so much in terms of grammar, sentence building and fluency. As a beginner, I have been leaning towards acquiring vocabulary with flashcards for a while, but might be time to switch gears. Cheers!

    Hi Dan, I'm frustrated. I installed Zhongwen Popup Dictionary in Firefox and ZhongZhong extension in Chrome Browser but I can't get any dictionary popup when I hover the mouse over characters in some videos. What videos will this work with ? Only those with CC subtitles in Chinese ? Thanks :)

    • @thedanyopang
      @thedanyopang  2 роки тому

      Hey Paul, yes only videos with the pop-up cc subtitles will work, subtitles that are embedded won't work unfortunately.
