I got one of these for my PS5, Series X and Switch. It works great on all three! I’m going to order an extra dongle once they’re back in stock to keep on behind my XSX and the other I keep on the front of my PS5 in the USB-C port and pop it off if I want to use it with my Switch. I’ll keep them in their respective modes and hopefully won’t have interference since my PS5 and Switch are upstairs and my XSX is downstairs. It’s so nice to finally have something that just works with all my consoles, but it still pisses me off that I can’t just use my AirPods Pro which have low latency with any console, especially the new ones.
This USB C dongle makes it inconvenient to switch from xbox to pc which I do often. You have to unplug the extension cable from xbox and plug it into the pc every time. You also need an additional usb port for charging the headset. There's only 3 ports on an Xbox so you'd have to find another source for charging unless unplugging and plugging in cables repeatedly doesn't bother you.
Why does mine sound trash compared to my cheap hyper x cloud stinger? Do wireless headsets just sound worse, or am I just missing something to make my arctis 7x sound better?

Can this be plugged into the Xbox with USB for wired use? I refuse to use Xbox controllers any longer since I had bad luck with every single one of the 4 controllers I ordered (two of which were even elite 2‘s). I am now using keyboard and mouse, but plugging my arctis 3 in with a usb to Aux adapter doesn’t work …
Comfort and latency are my biggest focuses. How does the 7X compare to the TurtleBeach Stealth 700 Gen2? Is the 7X's USB dongle with the wireless USB lower latency than the built-in XBSX radio? I play Rocksmith 2014 and roundtrip audio latency from guitar string through the XBSX and back to my ears is critical. Every millisecond matters. HDMI on my TV almost sounds faster than via the TurtleBeach Stealth 700 Gen2 which I just acquired. And HDMI has built-in latency. The TurtleBeach online rep told me that there wasn't going to be a USB audio connection with XBSX. Then after I ordered I read about the Arctis 7X with a USB dongle! Right now, I want a simple USB to stereo dongle. No audio processing other than what the game does. I know it's a niche use case but maybe UBISOFT will create a dongle like they did with the guitar to USB cable for the game.
This and the 9X are the most comfortable headsets I've tried. I'm not sure about latency - I haven't noticed any issues with either the 7x or the 700 Gen 2 playing shooters, but I've never tried Rocksmith. So I can't say that you would have any different experience with the 7X. As a musician, I can understand how frustrating that latency would be. Hopefully someone creates something that fits that need!
@@9to5toys Appreciate the feedback. The TurtleBeach is tighter than I like so I start to get a headache from the pressure after a short while. The Arctis 7X doesn't appear in stock but I think I'm going to return the TurtleBeach Stealth 700 Gen2 now and get the 7X once it's back in stock. I'm annoyed that I can't connect my TurtleBeach 800X Elite but it's optical only - so I'm SOL. Not TurtleBeach's fault. I think USB will be higher bandwidth/much lower latency than almost any other connection and SteelSeries advertises lossless low latency for the 7X. I just wish it broadcast on the less crowded 5.0GHz band instead of 2.4GHz.
Just sold me on the 7x I've been looking at steel series for a while now and I was on the fence with this and the ASTRO a40s w/mixamp. I don't want wireless, but want the party chat sliders, without buying a game doc or mixamp type thing. I wanted the arctis 5s but they don't work on Xbox S, I've heard. Still would you still recommend these if I wasnt going to use the wireless part and if not what would you recommend. I was almost dead set on the ASTRO A40S that have the mix-up and everything. Still kinda on the fence with the artist 7x or the ASTRO a40 w/mix-up. Please help me!
Using the 9x with my phone was awful, and I returned it because of it. The bluetooth audio is choppy almost half the time, and I'm not even exaggerating. Trust me, it's not worth passing up the 7x to go with its weaker alternative.
Can I connect these to my iPhone? I mean I see the 3.5 jack and I have the piece that turns the 3.5 jack into a lightning cable. So if I do that would it work?
My steel series cracked where the ear piece meets the head band and it swivels. Cracked all the way across the width of the ear piece. $200 and they broke way too fast.
I got this headset and immediately took them back. Came from an Arctis 5, which was the most comfortable, greatest sounding headset I had ever owned.. maybe I did something wrong? But the 7x immediately sounded horrible..
So I have a question if anyone could answer that would be great. So I have a series x, it only has 3 USB ports. I have a wireless mouse, keyboard and Sea-gate SSD filling all 3 ports. Would this still work if I ran it through a USB hub connected series x?
Since posting this, I have realized that all headphones work with the ps5 audio tech. It works similarly to apples spatial surround sound except instead of the surround sound chip living in each pair of headphones, it is built into the ps5 motherboard. Once you plug headphones into your ps5 controller, you will see 3D sound options in the ps5 settings menu. From there you can fine tune the 3D audio to your liking.
Why couldn't the 7X also have Bluetooth, or the 9X have this USB dongle... either combination would be universal and allow Bluetooth mixing. Can't find any headphones with this combination, let alone with active noise cancelling. Sigh.
The 9X seems like the best situation, except you're stuck with the Xbox USB adapter that is hardly universal. Something tells me it won't work on a PS4 or Switch.
Right now I'm in the market for wireless headsets but I'm undecidable especially when it comes to when you have a big head and I saw your review on the 7x but I was also thinking of getting the Turtle Beach stealth 700 Gen 2 and I don't know if that was a good thing to get for someone that has a big head or not or if there's another headset out there that is even better

I have both and have issues with audio cutting out on the TB Gen 2 700. I find the the Arctic 7X to be more comfortable too. The Stealth 700 are too tight as well. I’ll be selling the 700’s
How loud do these let you get?
I ask because rainbow six siege is a pretty quiet game compared to CoD. So I want to know if it can get loud enough to help me out.
I have a Series X and PS5. Got the 7P+ instead. Wish I would've gotten these so I can use on both. They're amazing
I wish the usb wire was shorter. It looks awkward how long it is.
Wait so when I'm playing my xbox games with the headset connected, I can't connect it to my phones Bluetooth as well?
No you need the 9x for that
I’m pretty sure the 7X has a more stable connection tho
Can I just plug the dongle in a USB C port on my laptop or do I need the wire adapter??
U can
It would be really nice if i could actually buy one here in Australia. theyve been out of stock for almost a month and Im operating with no sound currently. I have a series x and pc so dont know if i should just go for the 9x instead
I’ve tried download Series Engine 3 on Mac OS and it says they don’t support it?
My mic light doesn’t come on on Xbox series s ? Just got them
It's available right now through phone, I think you have to be signed in to see it.
So does 9x work with ps5 too ? Then if its like a 7x but with Bluetooth?
The 9x is Xbox and PC exclusive. Only the Arctis 7x or Arctis 1 Wireless Xbox version work on absolutely everything
I got the turtle beach stealth 700 gen 2. Very happy with them
The quality is good but mine cut out like crazy.
Sounds like you need the firmware update
Can this be plugged into the Xbox with USB for wired use? I refuse to use Xbox controllers any longer since I had bad luck with every single one of the 4 controllers I ordered (two of which were even elite 2‘s). I am now using keyboard and mouse, but plugging my arctis 3 in with a usb to Aux adapter doesn’t work …
Are they out of stock quite frequently in the uk?
Which has better sound? Corsair Arctis 7x, Stealth 700 or Corsair HS75 xb?
Corsair is better
@@carlosmontes792 thanks
Thank you for posting
I have these. Wish it had Bluetooth though. Is there a difference in sound or formats between 9x and 7x?
No
Using the 9x with my phone was awful, and I returned it because of it.
The green light on my 7x always blinks ?
Really interested in this headset but does the mic sound that bad on xbox?
Arctis 7p or hyperx cloud 2 wireless? And why
I’m having an issue with mine where I sound like I’m talking through an old phone in Xbox party chat any ideas?
My steel series cracked where the ear piece meets the head band and it swivels. Cracked all the way across the width of the ear piece. $200 and they broke way too fast.
Steelseries will replace it for free
How is it to watch movies on series x ? And does it support surround?
Would a Bluetooth dongle work with the 7x
I got this headset and immediately took them back. Came from an Arctis 5, which was the most comfortable, greatest sounding headset I had ever owned.. maybe I did something wrong? But the 7x immediately sounded horrible..
Where do you get that headset stand!?!?
I love my Arctis 7x! Absolute best headset I’ve ever owned! It’s the only headset I’ll use with gaming!
So I have a question if anyone could answer that would be great. So I have a series x, it only has 3 USB ports. I have a wireless mouse, keyboard and Sea-gate SSD filling all 3 ports. Would this still work if I ran it through a USB hub connected series x?
You said it works with PlayStation, does it work with the new Tempest 3D Audiotech?
Since posting this, I have realized that all headphones work with the ps5 audio tech. It works similarly to apples spatial surround sound except instead of the surround sound chip living in each pair of headphones, it is built into the ps5 motherboard.
Once you plug headphones into your ps5 controller, you will see 3D sound options in the ps5 settings menu. From there you can fine tune the 3D audio to your liking.
Yes
What is the up/downside of the 9X...???.. price is almost the same
Here
Tomorrow's video should help answer that a bit!
I wanted one from the beginning, got it on a discount $120 and its actually in stock
Where pleasse
If you go to their website it was discounted for me
How thick are those plastic ends before the headphones?
So the game/ chat audio doesn't work on the ps4?
Can i use this wired to my xbox? i dont know whether to choose this or 3 Console Edition
came to know they r good for xbox but are they good to listen music, calls. Please let me know.
So I'm debating between this headset and the Razer Kaira Pro. What do you think 9to5Toys?
What’s the difference between the 7 and the 7x? Can’t find the 7x anywhere, do the 7’s work on Xbox X
The 7 is not designed for Xbox. The 7X includes and adapter that works for Xbox wireless protocol.
9to5Toys thanks for the reply!! Looking to get a pair after looking through lots of reviews and videos. Bought the razer black sharks and not to impressed with how quite everything sounds but sadly can’t find the 7x’s anywhere only the 7’s
