Walrus Audio EONS - The Fuzz That Does it All

- In today's video, I am looking at the fantastic EON Fuzz from Walrus Audio.
This five-mode variable voltage fuss can do it all from tight distortion tones to full-on spitty vintage fuzz tones.
This pedal has 5 different modes.
I. Silicon soft clipping traditional fuzz that’s well rounded with a
huge sound; compressed and smooth.
II. Silicon clipping with an added bass boost that increases the low
end at the beginning of the circuit; compressed and crunchy.
III. Germanium soft clipping with a feel of “what if
a distortion and fuzz had a kid?”; crunchy
and dynamic.
IV. LED clipping diodes with a slight high-end
cut; dynamically dark.
V. Hard clipping silicon transistors combined with
LED and Silicon soft clipping diodes. The rowdiest
of the modes with tons of gain: compressed, loud,
and angry.
I was lucky enough to be sent this unit from Walrus audio for review, even though this is a sponsored video, Walrus audio has not told me what to say the thoughts are my own and my thoughts are this pedal is it's fantastic.
The Studio Rats are core band members Paul Drew on guitar/production/mixing, drummer James Ivey and Dan Hawkins on bass. They collaborate with singers and musicians to produce radio-ready songs.
Came for the Eons - stayed for the black eye!
this pedal hits hard!
"THE FIRST RULE OF FIGHT CLUB IS......."
Great sounding pedal and awesome playing. Cheers
I ordered one, thanks for the great demo! One of the best I've seen
I love how articulate this fuzz is
Love it - I also tend to not get on with fuzz pedals, and have been searching for ‘the one’ this could be well worth a try - thanks man and great playing as always
Love Walrus! Absolutely killer line!
Video starts and the pedal immediately sounds good.
I love that Strat! It's gorgeous, I'd love to get one the same as that.
Hoping your eye recovers soon. Take two fuzz pedals and call the doctor in the morning. That pedal is killer.
Very cool pedal and as always, great playing. I might get one, but I will call it the Black Eye!
I love it! This one is a must have for me. I played a black Russian big muff for years and I loved it I just wished I could get some overdrive tones out of it, this is perfect
Great pedal, walrus seems to make good everything. Also the shiner somehow gives you more cred. Great vid.
The black eye definitely enhances the tone! Oh... and the fuzz sounds great too ;)
I'm getting one ,,
and a fuzz pedal
Awesome review, thanks.
That Strat does not disappoint.
This pedal is so much fun! I debated several pedals, but ended up with this one.
I was checking out the Eureka fuzz, saw your video, you liked it. i got one, love it, now here is another, lol
All the sounds in this video are incredible. You have sold me the pedal, and the subscription... I want a fuzz but I am not very extreme-fuzz fan, but this pedal fusions very well fuzz and distortion, and it seems you are using marshall classic style amp, and the base sound is similar to my base sound (Victory Sheriff). Just the intro is an amazing 10 seconds pedal-seller.
That pedal sounds sick and heavy no matter where you set it!!😎 im sold
Sounds great! I particularly dig the pick attack aspect of this. That was something I always struggled with when trying to like a fuzz pedal. Seems you can blend in a tight distortion / fuzz.
A strat with p 90s I didn't know I wanted one... now I do!! Sounds great!!
p90s are utter garbage.
Wow! Mind blowing
Just for this video he made that Black eye! What a cool way to demonstrate a freaking fuzz pedal!!
These are the exact sounds I want from a Fuzz pedal.
Great video. I don't typically get on with Fuzz pedals either... I must give one of these a try. Thanks!!
this or the Jam pedals Eureka, i dont get along w fuzz either, but love that one, there is a review here too. this one sounds a bit more like a distortion pedal, while the eureka def sounds fuzzish, but seems to blend great w other pedals. i think this may not have a real silicone transistor, where the other does.
Same here but the Dover Drive is my go to
It's a great and versatile fuzz! I love it
It's a solid fuzz, covering a lot of ground through most of what's out there.Germanium is always my first choice, though the clearest competitor I have for this is the FunctionFX Clusterfuzz, which doesn't have a Ge stage at all. There's def correlation between specific, common high gain Ge components and their Silicon counterparts. The only bad thing about Germanium is the lack of stability with temperature fluctuations.(Which can truly be a headache.)
Lack of touch sensitivity and dynamics is very common with traditional Big Muff style circuits, and most of us that are older can remember when the options were very limited, - basically BM variants, Fuzz Faces( usually very inconsistent, great or terrible) , Tone Benders( rare and expensive), and Super Fuzz variants. It wasn't until Fulltone came along that most even got a glimpse of the potential.
I hope your eye is quite good so far, man. Alle the best, and see you with the next video...
That p90 strat sounds great. good pedal it has some energy. that's what I like about a fuzz is Hendrix going full bore marshall with one.
This thing kicks ass
Well I'm sold. Subcribed.
Cheers for this my friend am getting one of them baby’s 👍
Your blackeye looks badass. 👍
What a Tone!!!
Pedal is fantastic, but 95% of the tone comes from you, indeed.
Cheers,
What e sound of this pedal . Love it
That sounds good, kingsley artisan is another good one to try if you don't like fuzz.
Heard the opening riff and hit Subscribe !
Nice pedal
What - you didn't see the "No Journey" sign in the guitar shop? First timer... great review and cool sounds!
Really cool demo of this pedal. One of the best demos right now but what I missing in every demo which is quite important for a Fuzz (...at least for me) is how does this pedal clean up with the guitar volume pot? Is it sparkly clean or just nasty and broken?
The best and most versatile fuzz for me it's the KMA Dead Stag (better than the Chief Disruptor, that thing can do Desert stuff to Pink Floyd and Chainsaw as a boost), and maybe, a alternative for some that "doens't like Fuzz boxes" is the Warp Drive by Stone Deaf FX or the DOD Carcosa (now, if you like Fuzz boxes, on a budget).
Yes, with the Walrus Eons we need to see more (if this can Chainsaw too, if this can do desert dry kinda rock good, and maybe as I saw: YES, but anyone tested yet to try to show it). At first sight it's the most versatile kinda different classics voiced fuzz, but not the most versatile fuzzy box that can enter in many realms of music.
Does it clean up with the volume knob?
Does it clean up well when you roll off the volume?
Would have been good to hear if the germanium mode cleaned up when you rolled the guitar volume down
Does it sounds more similar to a distortion pedal than most fuzz pedals?
5:32 what's the name of the song?
wow, didn't the drummer get the joke? That's a shiner. pedal sounds amazing
SOLD!!!
It would be nice to hear the pedal going into a clean tone that is, you know, clean. Great playing though.
Hi, I'm looking for a fuzz/distortion with a powerful Gain to facilitate legato as in metal pedals, could this pedal be what I'm looking for?
It’s great but you might want to look at Crazy tube circuits Motherload
@@TheStudioRats Ok I will look thank you very much
Put the lime in the coconut and drink 'em all down
You put the lime in the coconut and call me in the mornin'
Its like the MXR variac fuzz with modes.
sounds absolutely killer!! are you running this through your BOSS IR200 or GT1000CORE or through a real amp? :D
Cheers Francis, it’s going into an Axe Fx 3
@@TheStudioRats damn, i always wondered how fuzzes sounded through modelers, so this was a perfect demo, thanks!!
Sounds a bit like two parallel circuits. Fuzz and distortion side by side.
Hope this is better than the states, eras now this.
This is how I wind up with multiple pedal boards...
Wow even more options than the JHS cheese ball. Love it. Let’s just hope my wallet is equally enthusiastic. 😅
The amount of gain in that thing is ridiculous...
What happened to your left eye? 💙

illuminati ritual, left hand path
first time I like the sound of a fuzz.....
Probablemente el mejor look para la review de un Fuzz...
Carneros y ojos en tinta, la combinación perfecta!!
Only beef is that the LED should be placed where the goats eye is…
100% agreed mate
“Inarticulate”
Reminds me of a very funny but totally horrible joke I heard in a show just a few days ago:
“Yeah, but you should see my *_wife!_*
on the + side he is in the Illuminati now left hand path.
To me it doesn't sound like a fuzz pedal usually does..more like a distortion with the possibility to enter the fuzz territory.. but it's also the most attractive point, as I usually do not like the sound of a fuzz pedal.
Check out the review of the same pedal with Buddy Blue....He made it sound like a fuzz pedal!
What did he say at the end? I’m Paul the black guy?
I forgot how bad that black eye was!
Did James Ivey punch you out again???? That James is a rascal
zombie apocalypse huh... hate when that happens.
Inarticulate
Then don’t speak/ comment….
@@traviscrown9189 lol you missed the point sparky… did you actually listen? Nope…. An opportunity for you to troll.. get a life
Don't believe the black eye explanation, I think someone found out how much you spent on guitars recently. Then was denied new shoes and hand bag
Who punched you
I'm telling you now ,my groovy wizard sounds better.
Gets fuzz pedal, plays 80s music. Odd choice, but OK.
Sounds nice, but it's more of a distortion rather then a fuzz. I'll pass
No MIDI, no expression. Fails behind Moho. Walrus is way behind other companies, lacking stereo, MIDI, presets, and expression. They need to up their game.
It’s a fuzz, what fuzzes out there have midi, stereo and presets and expression
