Nice video! I propagate mine every few years. I use 50% sand, 50% washed coco coir (not the chunky one), with great results. The roots/corms on mine are exceptionally healthy. The roots on mine actually grow quite deep into their pot; your larger brown pot is about what I use, and should grow them well. I use regular tap water for them, vs the RODI I water my lithophytic and epiphytic orchids.
Awesome! So many new orchids! I need to dig up and divide mine this spring... assuming the arctic blast (-8°F) didn't kill them. Those pots are going to look so lovely!
Thank you...and yes I am on a propagating spree!! LOL! I am hoping to propagate them again next year and perhaps plant some directly in my garden. Make sure you don't forget to propagate yours...IT'S SO MUCH FUN! LOL! HAPPY GROWING DEAR FRIEND!
Hi Maria I have a question. Itis not regarding this orchid but the catasetum. My question. Why sre some of the butbs developing roots and some are developing another bulb ? Others are not developing bulbs or roots, it is frustating because I have over 200. Should I put them where they can recieve more light so they can root faster ? Love all your videos, I have learned so much from them. Have a nice day.
How often do you water them in the winter months and I would like to know if I can grow them in and area that gets morning sun and light shade from just before midday. Thanks for your help.
You should definitely get some...they are very easy to grow and also inexpensive compared to many of our other orchids. They are so worth having in your collection. Thanks for watching and HAPPY GROWING! :)
Did you water your orchids right after repotting. I received one from mail just like that but it ended up with no roots and I don’t know what to do with it I appreciate it you can give me more tips on how to grow ground orchids
Selina Boyd at one time I actually was thinking of planting them in my garden...but I just appreciated the portability of keeping them in a pot. But who knows one day I may give it a go. Thanks for watching and joining me on my orchid adventures. HAPPY GROWING! :)
Situated? Try using the word positioned. Situate means to fix or build in a certain place or position. You fixed the situation in which the poor orchids were suffering by changing their position from one infested pot to other clean pots, repositioning the corms.
I would check online and see if any of the orchid nurseries in your area carry them or you can also check Amazon and Ebay as well and see if perhaps you can find a vendor that ships to your location. Good luck and I am hoping that you are able to find some. They are wonderful and easy to grow orchids! Thanks for watching and HAPPY GROWING! P.S. Stay warm!
Marc Frey Not a problem and thank you for visiting! I hope you'll visit again soon! Best wishes and HAPPY GROWING! PS I did find a site showing orchid nurseries in Canada. You should call around and see if any of the nurseries have them in stock. www.orchidwire.com/Vendors/R/1/Ontario.html
