Arno, in fifty years, from hearing this most premier piece for alto saxophone played and performed a dozen times, and especially by the best artists all over the world, this is the best I’ve ever heard it played. Bravo!
Fantastic recording! It's so smooth. It just sounds effortless-it's quite inspiring, really..... I think I'll go practice now!
I love this piece. It’s always been one of my favorites. I’m currently a junior in high school and I’m thinking of playing the first movement for solo and ensemble this year but I’m deathly scared of the altissimo sections lol.
Marcel Mule didn't play the altissimo ossia ~ there is much to learn from the Ibert on any level! Happy practicing :)
@@Mofaxx update: I’m playing it for college auditions! My altissimo is much better than before.
@@ericratliff217 Excellent my friend! Best of luck on all your auditions. Have you already determined which schools you’d like to attend? I say shoot for the stars 🌟
This is by far my fav recording. Can’t wait to play this piece this year.
Me too! Happy practicing :)
Mofaxx. It’s been a pain so far LOTS OF METRONOME. Can’t wait.
@@jacobbass6226so much metronome omg!! this piece is single-handedly making me want to marry my metronome
This chamber concerto for alto saxophon and chamber orchestra (wind quintet + trumpet + string quintet) is well in line with the style often playful of Jacques Ibert. It is a delight for the spirit and for the ears.
Amazing ! Bornkamp really made a great interpretation ! The John Harle version is also too good to !
It was a pleasure to experience your "Jacques Ibert" accomplishment.A favorite from saxophoine repitoire, performed with engaging professionalism.Intonation,altissimo,-no less than outstanding.A warm, exciting composition highlighted by your impressive skills.
Hi, the person who posted this video is not the one who is performing on the recording. It's Arno Bornkamp, just to let you know :)
Great choice of paintings by the way!
fun saxophone (but actually quite hard), sounds jazzy but maybe it's just all the wind instruments
Best Ibert I heard since Marcel Mule!

Lovely music, lovely paintings. Thank you!
He really played this very well! Even doing the unthinkable in terms of some saxophone players, sacrificing “skill” for musicality!
Arno Bornkamp is a true consummate musician! I saw him perform a solo recital and he gave program notes from the stage, all from memory! His playing was as immaculate live as heard in this recording.
this is just... pretty.
Wonderful!
I believe this will be my college entrance piece, and I am quite excited looking at the music. Fantastic recording quality, and a great player too!
So how did the audition go?
C'mon we all wanna know how it went!
?
Well, I got in! And then have gone on to leave music school to work full time in a factory, but I'm going back to school next year to work with computers. Saxophone is still a driving force in my life
Thanks so much for finding the answer. I really appreciate it!
Beautiful
I love how slow he takes the lyrical part in mvt 2

At 2:02 it sounds like the altissimo concert Ab is being held as the saxophonist continues to play other notes...?
Magic... in reality he was playing two saxophones at the same time both mouthpieces in his nose
That would be pretty neat (especially intriguing is how his nose could form a proper embouchure), although I have since checked the score and found out that it's the 1st violin and the flute that hold the note out, which, when combined, seem to match the timbre of Arno's note very closely. :)
honestly it kinda sounds like the flutes are playing it, maybe he played that specific note in tune with the flutes to get that effect
Alan Ding it’s the violins. They play the same note. But hold it.
it’s probably the oboe but yeah that is very confusing
Finally found something that is comparable to what Claude Delangle plays... Awesome!
Lol Claude ain’t got nothing on Arno 💃🏿

This is great, but the playlist ("Music in this video") is not consistent says Milano in I, BBC Phil in II, Milano in III pls fix (or confirm!) best wishes to you.
Thank you! As far as I can tell, I am not able to fix the incorrect copyright claims. The true copyright holder would have to submit a claim, I believe. If you know how to fix this, I'd appreciate the advice!
thanks!
I wonder how many hours he put into studying to reach this level!!!I think defenitely 15.000 to 18.000 hours!
@@duzapetwa that's bullshit
@@duzapetwa who the fuck would studie 24 hours a day for his intrument
yellemusic - No one would, cuz people study 40hr a day instead
