1968. Check the dates at 23:06. This is the Malta I grew up in, albeit in Żejtun (I left in 1972). When I went to confession I was around 13 years old, Bishop Galea asked about my dad's affiliation (we used to say 'Mintoffjan' in those days) and he sent me away angrily without giving me absolution. The Church of Gonzi did not want to lose the absolute control it had over the people's minds, souls and money. Ringing of the bells during MLP meetings was done regularly, as well as having nuns and MUSEUM members clean the place where the meetings took place with Dettol and such. This video is a very good depiction of Malta right after Independence, during which time the Queen was still our Head of State until she was replaced after Republic Day with Maltese Presidents. This very well-produced video is part of our heritage and should be available in the schools as part of our recent history. Did anyone manage to get an original DVD?

Thus documentary is a faithful account of Malta in the 'times' it describes
.ficussingvon Luqa asca typical Village but covering much more of the Island's current affairs...
      professionally filmed and scripted.
The Narrator gives it the masterly touch! Excellent.

I was 11years old when all of this happened I remember the Politics at the time of village rivalries as well as The Church ( Gonzi) and Mintoff ) Head to head,I didn't understand at the time what was going on...I sure understand now as Mintoff had a vision and I think none of the other Parties saw Malta through his eyes...sometimes one can be a Maverick with Maverick Ideas, and he was one of them...Look at Malta now the main source of industry is definitely Tourism. So proud of my Heritage. This time would have been around 1961-62 that's when there was an uproar between The Church and The Labour Party, I also remember The Interdet given to any Labour Party supporters.

By the way the original name is two trumpets for St.Andrews not of St.Andrews.
