Bandai is definitely showing off their plastic modeling chops with a lot of these alternative kits. Between these and some of the Star Wars kits, it's amazing the kind of detail they can pack onto plastic.
I assume it's based off the leaping lizards painting and I believe it is adjustable. Which no one is gonna buy another 40 dollar model to make a diorama.
I would like a mammoth skeleton kit, not jumping pose thank you. All that aside, it would be really amazing to see someone literally sculpt putty all over the skeleton and form the T-Rex as how it probably looked when it was alive or a muscular anatomy which both might take forever if you are crazy with details.
@@titan133760 With the base it would have been a nobrainer to have it in a walking pose with one foot in the footprint. I actually thought that would be the case until the completed model. Strange choices.
Thanks for the review! I'm definitely a Dinosaur nut as well, grew up right in the original Jurassic park movie heyday and was obsessed! still love them and will be picking this kit up. I'm planning to change the pose by pinning the legs in a standing or running position and remove the support stand. Hope Bandai release more of these, a Stegosaurus and some Raptors would be great!
My brother in law would love this kit. I agree with adding option parts to pose the kit differently. A triceratops or stegosaurus would be cool to see next. I'm glad the kit didn't only release in that limeX version that was announced as P-Bandai. It's different, it's cool.
Looks great! Im tempted to get one, but intend to cover it in polymer clay if that makes sense. Kinda want to try making a t-rex statue but with the skeleton instead of a wireframe
Damn, these would sell in science museums' gift shops. I know I always get giddy when I reach the gifts shops when I was little, and I'm sure I will still be if I visited one now.
This kit reminds me of going to the Tokyo Science and History museum where in the dinosaur exhibit they had a sitting T-Rex skeleton (this was back in 2017) so I love an action pose as it makes the animal seem more alive. Maybe not realistic but since we can't be 100% sure, its still a unique way to view dinosaurs. I would love to see a Stegosaurus or Anklyosaurus. I think those would be great to see especially if they had unique poses like this.
We can’t be sure on many things like whether they had feathers, or what color they had, or what they sounded like, but given the size of the animal and it’s weight we can very safely say he wouldn’t be leaping in the air. Even studies on how fast they ran suggest you could outrun them on a bicycle, given that their weight was too massive to devellop much speed.
I loved dinosaurs as a kid, and Mattel's Jurassic World lineup helped reinvigorate that as an adult. This looks like a really cool kit, I hope I can pick it up!
Whaha I also think the jumping pose is stupid, poor designer did extra work to not just have it standing there and we all hate it xD Its still kinda cool though! Too bad Zack didnt put it next to a moderoid obsolete kit as they are the same scale :)
Spray it with Wraithbone. Coat of Skeleton Horde Contrast. Base needs some Stirland Mud, Deathworld Forest for the vegetation, Dryad Bark for the fallen log, Rakarth Flesh or Karak Stone for the rocks, and Agrax Earthshade(with maybe some Athonian Camoshade) over the whole kit-and-caboodle. Buford Van Stomm: "Yeah, you're welcome, people."
Lol the citadel paint descriptions are so useless! It's almost like the paints are the collectibles themselves with names like that. I'll stick to my tamiya brown, deck tan, white, etc and mix what I want myself
@@Astronopolis they make more sense when you know the lore. Ultramarine blue -> your go-to blue for space marines from ultramarines chapter. It's not that far from "IJN green".
@@Astronopolis Well, if ya know, ya know... Citadel Contrasts are good to use as washes and even to color transparent materials. And once you've seen the Citadel color-charts, you know the differences between the different paints- Bases, Layers, Dry, Shade, Contrast, Technical, etc. Incidentally, "Stirland Mud" is a texture-paint that gives the effect of muddy ground, perfect for that swamp-base on this beastie. If you want something a little more wet and gooey, "Stirland Battlemire" is a good alternative. Do Tamiya Paints do texture-paints? I'm asking... I prefer Citadel to Tamiya, but I'm always on the lookout for alternatives. Citadel rattle-cans are expensive AF.
I really do hope Bandai does bring more dino kits I wanna see a triceratops. I kinda wanna see someone do kitbashing of this kit like how Pokémon sword and shield did with their fossil mons.
In fairness to Bandai, I think I would also assume the same pose if I had a giant transparent rod sticking up my.... LOL. Kidding aside, thanks for the review, I'm with you on the pose... I think it's a bit overkill, especially the excessive flexion of the tail vertebrae... not sure if that is anatomically feasible given the current data. Nevertheless, I still love the surface details of the kit, and I am sure that experienced modelers will do some "surgery" on the parts to give the skeleton a more neutral pose similar to those specimens in the museum.
That should be the frame of the tRex with snap on pieces made out of the flexible material Bandai has been using for the flexible skirts on zaku's. Make the kit all squishy and texurie.
I just got into Gunpla and I've loved dinosaurs since I've been like 2 so this is perfect for me. I'm hoping they add a triceratops or stegosaurus in a defensive pose to pair with this guy
I do really like the idea and the detail put into the kit itself, but I'm a bit disappointed that it's not even a little poseable. And of all the fixed poses to put it in, surely they could have picked a better one than that goofy-looking jump? (Tyrannosauruses were the size of elephants, I don't think it likely they were physically capable of jumping anyway. Although it might be meant to represent that famous Charles R. Knight illustration; though that was a different and much smaller tyrannosaurid, Dryptosaurus) I dunno, maybe with some work you could cut the legs apart, trim the stand, and re-mount them in a way that looks better. I'm definitely putting my money on a Triceratops next in the line, though. Maybe the bases will lock together so that the two dinosaurs will be posed together in a fight?
I guess bandai molds the dinosaurs like T. rex skeleton in marron plastic is because they don’t want people mistake it as if you just had a roast chicken for dinner. The bones in the runner really look like chicken wings :)
we can just paint it chrome and put a cylinder red led in the eye socket and we can have a terminator t rex. its more like how u can paint it and give it any back story bone white is fine a bone white with blue tint will make it look like a science expo trex, paint it blue and white u can have it a underwater discovery, paint it read and orange with some weathering and u can have a volcanic t rex bones. its just a matter of paint u can make any kind of t rex show with this.
I can feel that somebody is going to custom this into a half and a half, or a zombie version by filling in the sketon. Still, this is a breath of fresh air and I can't wait to see more. If Ross Geller were real, boy he'd be having a field day with this line.
I wonder if the base is made so that it will interlock with future kits, making a massive diorama. The Tamiya kits have flesh and scales on the kits, but those do take more work like glue and paint to look good
Triceratops would complement this one greatly. Other than that I and my son would love to have a Mososaurus hoffmannii. Can you add measurement information in metric too?
I would like to see the usual a Triceratops, Stegosaurus, Allosaurus, Velociraptor and Carnataurus 1 or all those would be good put in a pose that suits the dinosaur not so much like the T-Rex.
from my understanding is that the T-rex is just the same as an elephant, which needs one of its legs always on the ground, if not, then its leg bones and leg muscles will literally be smashed due to its weight. therefore this pose is very offputting for me? and are there any articulations onto this kit at all? if not might as well just cut from the connection points and glue them again as a standing pose then...

I'll wait for the version that comes with the beam rifle and shield.
Bandai is definitely showing off their plastic modeling chops with a lot of these alternative kits. Between these and some of the Star Wars kits, it's amazing the kind of detail they can pack onto plastic.
Add to that the fact that Bandai has the best pricing as well.

Ah yes, the everyday dinosaur

Oo, a Sabretooth skeleton will be cool to match the mammoth
The pose is a little off putting, but still really cool and different.
They should have opted for a more neutral pose

It should've been Sue's Skeleton.

Accidently mixed kit runners with leftover Bandai and Kotobukiya option parts

I’d love to see an Ankylosaurus

Becareful went you put polymer clay on this type of plastic as polymer clay some time can Eat up the plastic
Why waste this kit for that? You can do the same with metal wire frame and then you can bake it without melting the kit
Love to see some paint and some weathering effects on this

I hope they eventually do a parasaurolophus
I want this kit. However I think I'd try to fix it into a standing position rather than the jumping one.
Is it weird to point out there’s 2 USA Gundam sponsored transition in this video?
I heard that there was two other dinosaur but they sold out pretty fast in Japan.
Very cool, would have thought it'd be not that difficult to modify slightly to stand on the base. I would like Triceratops next plz Bandai. 😁
its basically an inner frame only kit.
I really hate the pose. I highly doubt T-Rex would have been able to pounce/leap like that
Yeah, they're waay too heavy for that. Doing that would probably immediately break their bones upon impact.
So cool new toy or display.
God bless.
Really don’t like the pose. I don’t mind it being fixed, but jumping is just odd. How easy would this be to mod into a standing pose tho?
Triceratops or stegosaurs would be cool, I would also like to see a macedon or a saber-tooth tiger
The pose is perfect when you have 3d printer and can mod this trex into launching dragon :) Just replace tiny hands with wings.
Oooo nice!
probably Bandai's experiment to try make a Digimon Figure-Rise Standard SkullGreymon kit, lol.
Love to see a Triceratops
I'd like to see a (pack of) velociraptors.
1/32 Shin Godzilla Skeleton!
If Bandai make this a line, I’m expecting next a triceratops, pterodactyl and for non-dinosaurs; sabertooth tiger and mastodon.
power ranger?
Oh my. This is definitely up in my to get list.
Also, "she"? Is that a clever girl reference? Heheh

it says "imaginary" but idk it looks pretty real to me
I would have preferred if it was on a more neutral pose. It looks awkward with a "raptor-esque" jumping pose
MG version will be this kit and the meat with skin parts?
Brachiosaur would be dope
I'm waiting for 10 P-Bandai versions
is this a new sub-line or just another one of their stand alone build yourself kits?
a Trex or steggy would be nice for herbivores. A raptor for the therapods
Gotta be a Velociraptor
Id like to see a Megasuarass
it even has the belly ribs! (gastralia)
It's really nice and I would almost get it, but the pose doesn't make it for me :/ Thanks for the review
I need a Stegosaurus and Deinonychus!
Can the kit stand without the stand?
We need Godzilla skeletal
the jumping pose is just way too silly, probably would have bought it if it was in a standing/walking/running pose
They have P bandai versions that include a triceratops. I'm not crazy about the jumping pose of this model.
Would've been better if the base is simply plugging the foot into those footprints
Interesting.
Why is there the Pantheon in the background? ^^;
hi which top coat does it look better in? matte or gloss?
