I have a Subaru WRX STI. I had a second key that worked until the dealer did some major work on the car and disabled the key. Mine doesn't have any buttons on it; it is just used to start the car and manually open the doors. Xtool has worthless manual and support. My spare key doesn't start car or even function so how am I supposed to program key totally disabled by jerk dealer. Waiting for a response from xtool. Does the device only support remote functions? My car has a separate fob with remote wireless controls. The key itself seems to have a chip of some sort in the plastic base, but no buttons. The dealer disabled something, but I was fighting with them because they wouldn't honor the warranty because I changed my own oil, which is illegal, but nobody enforces the law!
I was able to figure out how to reactivate my key. It's frustrating when there are no instructions, but it's wonderful to have my backup key working again. I tried the mileage function, but only Legacy and Forester are supported. For some reason, Subaru is not supported on many diagnostic tools. I had a pricey instrument that wouldn't even read diagnostic codes (I had to return it for a refund). This tool does a good job of reading OBD-2 codes!
