- We visited McConnell Spring park, the location where the McConnell brothers set up their camp and heard that the Revolutionary War had started at Lexington and Concord. They decided to name their camp in the battles honor. In this video you will learn a bit of the area's history, the reason why it still survives today and the amazing historical sites in the area.

Interesting how easily that beautiful area could have been destroyed. Got goosebumps about that Burr Oak tree.. amazing
Thanks for showing us another notable piece of Kentucky.
Yes, it’s surrounded by industrial businesses. It could have easily been destroyed. Be on the look out, our next video is all about that tree!
We took the kids here all the time when they were young. It is an amazing treasure in the middle of an unlikely spot.
Thanks for the history lesson. I've always wondered about the importance of McConnell springs.
Yes sir! The park is somewhat hidden in the industrial area but quite a hidden gem.
Outstanding short history of McConnell's Springs and the founding of Lexington. I grew up in Lexington (1955 to 1982 )but never went to the spring or the park. I left in the 80's so I don't think the park was there, We will someday be moving back to the Lexington area and I will be sure to visit the park.
Thank you sir! It’s definitely a nice place to see.
I was born and raised in Lexington
Did you happen to know this history already?
Great work love the videos
Thanks for your support!
Great info guys. Thanks for all you do! Speaking of the Appalachian area...One of my ancestors is Henry Mallow, supoosedly the first white kid born in Ohio. His mother was captured by indians and they took her to Ohio and that is where she had him (they was from West Virginia). I haven't been to his grave site (I live in Arkansas) but I plan to someday. Anyway I thought yall would think that's interesting. I'm going to ask my parents to take a trip to Appalachia soon
Oh wow, we’d love to do a video on that!
@@familytreenutshistorygenealogy that would be awesome, it's just that there isn't a ton of info on him. It would have to be a shorter video
@@noahcartermusic2546 Understand that. Sometimes short is just as good.
Continue the great work! Do you all have any idea when you will have the Jonathan Swift silver mine legend video out?
Thanks! Perhaps you would like to create a script for that video? 😀
@@familytreenutshistorygenealogy Persistant aren't you? I'm neither qualified or talented enough!
@@reaganl.5113 Well shoot. I’m sure we will get to it soon. Soooo many requests. 😀
outstand sir ‼️💯
Thank you!
🥰❤️✝️
Neat story
Yes, Lexington SHOULD be the Kentucky Capital. Not that podunk little embarrassing Frankfort, which can't even keep a tall building maintained, and has to tear it down. Only in Frankfort!
old joke is the capital of Kentucky Louisville or Lexington? It's Frankfort. Louisville was the illegal capital during the time of 2 state Governments in Ky in the late 1890s. My father born in 1899 was named after Governor Beckham. The legal capital is Frankfort Ky.
That’s one of the best jokes!
@@familytreenutshistorygenealogy McGuire, Lt. James Felix helped build Boonesboro. Lot of teachers in that line too. Can we say school was never out if a teaching opportunity happened along.
@@cerwyddi Haha most definitely.
@@cerwyddi Just saw tonight that McGuire's daughter-in-law Esther was niece of Governor Greenup, Tonight's podcast subject.
